    Fantastic video Jack. It really helped us as we were struggling with opening up the accumulator before we saw the video.

    Hey Jack. Good video. I remember you came out to Norbord in Alabama in early 2000. I'm about to rebuild a large accumulator and wanted to get a little refresher. Learned a lot from you. Thanks

    Good day Sir,
    I'm Paulo, I need your help Sir Can you solve or answer my question. for what are the main causes why accumulator bladder leaks or how long or year did accumulator may used
    I hope you can answer my problem..Thank you and God bless...
    I hope you more blog about the accomulator and also how they work.. Again thank you...

      Hi Paulo,
      Thanks for your question! One common cause of slow leaks in an accumulator is a bad Schrader valve. Replacing the valve core is exactly the same as replacing the one on your car tire - you even use the same tool. But do not use a low-pressure car tire valve core, get a high-pressure one from your hydraulic supplier. It's easily recognizable by its red seal.
      Bladder failures are different - they usually fail suddenly (rather than leak down over a period of time). The most common cause of bladder failure is too high of a pre-charge. This causes the bladder to hit the poppet valve every time the accumulator discharges, increasing the chance of nicking the bladder under the poppet valve and rupturing it. If your system presssure is ever changed, be sure to change the pre-charge a proportional amount.
      Piston accumulators leak by nature, but it can be minimized by keeping the system pressure and the pre-charge optimized.
      Hope this helps!

      @@JackWeeks thank you so much.. Now I have and idea of how to minimize the trouble of the hydraulic pump.. This machine is a punching machine....
      Sir Jack, if I increase the pressure of the hydraulic motor pump there is a capability that the accomulator bladder damage or cause of leaks... Thank you...

    jack would a faulty accumulator cause a hydraulic system to lose hydraulic pressure over time .This would be in a bobcat mini excavator.What are the symptoms of a bad acumulator.We already put a brand new pump on machine

    • @JackWeeks
      @JackWeeks  Před 2 lety

      Hi Jay,
      No, that doesn't really sound like an accumulator problem. Yes, it can cause temporary pressure drops whenever the system is starved for fluid. For instance, if the pressure stays high during low demand (few actuators moving), but drops when more actuators start, yes, that could be an accumulator issue. In fact, whenever you have wide swings in pressure, the first thing to check is the accumulator. An overall pressure loss over time sounds much more like some component bypassing (and getting worse as it remains in service). I'd look for components with an abnormal temperature gain - usually the first indication of bypassing. Hope this helps!

      @@JackWeeks Thanks Jack one other question on our control valve there is a main releif valve is it possible the main releif valve is faulty .The reason I'm thinking the main releif is because ever control of the machine seems weak including final drives once the machine warms up

    • @Gpmhydraulic
      @Gpmhydraulic Před 2 lety

      @@jrac863 That sounds like a great place to start. Not sure how your machine is configured, but you need to determine if the relief is bypassing to tank. One good way is to see if it heats up during operation. A thermal imaging camera is a great way to tell. It should get no hotter than surrounding components. Good luck with it!

    My accumulator is gushing out oil from the charging valve. What does that mean?

    • @JackWeeks
      @JackWeeks  Před rokem

      What type of accumulator do you have - bladder or piston? If it is a bladder accumulator, the bladder must be ruptured. If it is a piston accumulator, your piston seals may need replacing.

      Thanks! Might try Hydrodyne or Motion Industries. I would think just about any hydraulic supplier could get one.
