      the mechanics with the bore farm changed a bit, the old setup doesn't seem to work. (Mine never eat, and can get stuck in old method)
      Try a half floor that they stand on, and a half floor that's empty behind them. Also ,a full wall in the direction away from that halfwall gap you will have left for the babies to drop down. I haven't had to touch anything, since I set it up like that.

    I have improved this design by using the 2m core logs instead of the 4m core logs, crossed across the bottom of each boar's position. This allows me to delete the core log in the direction the boar is facing and I can 100% be sure the boars are perpendicular to the log they are resting on, and I am 100% free of piggy jams.

    Thanks for posting this, it works great. If you set "friendly fire" to on, you can use the harpoon to drag the boars around and put them where you need them. I used it to move my boars from their pen to the new breeder setup, that way I didn't have to build all the fences for guiding/preventing boars falling off and there was none of the usual hassle of pushing the uncooperative boars around. Awesome design.

    My hubby likes to bug me about keeping old worlds in Valheim around. What is nice is to see how I handled breeders. I usually build the four across breeders. It's pretty easy to set up. I was sure that the devs disallowed boars breeding on wood. But clearly they either didn't or they changed it again. I may just do a test to see if I can set one up on stone. Raids can decimate a breeder set up. You do a great job explaining your builds.

    I just want to say thank you for the design. I used the center piece then doubled it for both wolves and boars. Measure out the floorboards for your frame first, then raised the ground on the edges helps both with height and structural support. Then dig out a pit in the center with a ramp on one side for the wolves to leave if you wish, and a divider down in the pit to keep the boars in. Best breeder I've ever tried and easily built with only the basic pick axe and not even iron age tools or stonecutter. I have so much extra meat I just use it for making coal.

  • @ImaRamblingman
    @ImaRamblingman Před rokem +1

    I found the pigs tried to rotate too much and that caused the piglets to consistently get trapped and stop the breeding process. So I removed the ramps to the sides that were parallel to the core wood beam and added padding to the bays to made them narrower, forcing the pigs into the desired orientation. I managed to do this while the pigs were in the pen with some determination, but it might have been better to do it before loading the pigs into the pen. I have not however tested if this is possible, so mileage may vary on this technique. The breeder is pretty consistent now too, although it took some time learning how to throw the food correctly, but I can do it every time now without it falling in the pen below which is good.

There's just one quirk: the ledge with the wood wall half that you use to measure the distance from which you drop food is VERY position-determined and VERY finnicky. Food doesn't drop on Xbox like it does on PC. I found it easier to hit the wood beam by removing the wood wall half and make my own estimation . Have you considered making it 2-story with Wolves over Boars or vice versa? That would be pretty cool and compact if you could get the babies from the top to fall past the breeders on the lower level. I don't need such an insane breeding rate for just 2 of us "eaters", so I am just using a line breeder in a tree-top with 2 boars and 2 wolves (all 2*s) and it works sufficiently for my needs.

    • @The-B-Side
      @The-B-Side Před rokem +1

      The 2 level system would cause the top animal to get stuck into the other breeder of the bottom one..

    I am running the design with only 2 boars and plan to add wolfes to the other 2 open slots

  • @davidelout2566
    @davidelout2566 Před rokem +1

    so the pushing had me confused, we only got to push them once, so thy face the right direction right. We dont have to repeat it after every single feeding session?

    • @The-B-Side
      @The-B-Side Před rokem +1

      Normally not, the Boars should keep directed where the food is.
      If they run empty, they might turn around (looking for food perhaps).
      I only had the boars turning around in the beginning during the build, as there was no food yet. SO i used to push them, or a door to move them.

    Looks amazin, rebuild it exactly like in your guide but it is not working. The boars refuse to eat and breed. Did they patch this or something?
    Edit: never mind, you have to place the food EXACTLY on that pieve of wood right in front of the boars head... pretty defficult to land the food exactly on int. a few centimeters off and they can't reach it.

      @@The-B-Side from testing what i understood is this: the breeding area needs be exactly 8x8, if you dig the pit first them come up and start building the pen from the corners using the 45° beams like at 5:03, the pen won't be square and will deviate slightly causing the issue of the food spots being misaligned. Hope i could make myself clear and that this might help others.

    Hey Beebs! I like the design of this breeder quite a lot. Question I have is re: flying raids: How does it stand up against the bats? Drakes and Gjall I know can wreck the wooden structures, so that's a concern as well.

    • @The-B-Side
      @The-B-Side Před rokem +1

      Tbh, I have not gotten any of these Raids yet. I know any Mistlands raid can be insanely devastating.
      I think the further you move along in progress, you should upgrade your base accordingly.
      Once I have some time, I might have to make some Base Defense Guides to protect against these new Raids.

    • @Shishakind86
      @Shishakind86 Před rokem

      From my experiences with the new raid, I'd say that this breeder would get shredded in no time - but to be fair, most wooden structures in this game would. The best way to defend against flying raid always has been to kite them away from your base independly of whether you actually kill the mobs or wait it out. Mistland creatures do a lot of damage and you'll easily have your structures taken down if they are not made from stone at least and unless you have an army of 20+ 2star wolves, you will certainly lose some of your animals as well. Make use of the raids going for the player first and the base second, even when you are going to just sprint around until it's over.

    • @The-B-Side
      @The-B-Side Před rokem

      Taming a creature should normally take about 30 mins, I am not entirly sure how that is incluenced by their level (0,1,2 star).
      If you go near without sneaking or the wolf notices you, it will pause its taming, until its calm again.
      The wolfs taming also pauses when there are enemies nearby..
      Be sure to keep the wolf calm, have food (wolfs eat a lot), and be in the vicinity without alerting the wolf (6m distance should be good).

      The reason the piggy is on the beam is because the Boar is directed in the same side as the beam, so the piggy dropped on the beam, instead of the empty space, which in return has 1 extra boar in the breeder, which stops the boars from breeding.
