    • @michaelcaplin8969
      @michaelcaplin8969 Před 4 lety +9

      @Siya He was aggressively tortured, that much is not up for discussion. However, what can be debated is whether or not his captors wanted this outcome, or if they weren't able to restrain themselves. When seing the few torture sessions smuggled out from North Korea, it's easy to see the captors losing control and taking it too far for too long. After all, they do bang the prisoners skulls against the walls repeatedly until blood splatters visibly on the walls. This would have been going on for a long time, and it's easy to see how brain damage would occur. The question is whether or not they actually intended for him to go to the concentration camps. I suspect they did, but that the interrogators took it too far for too long, and didn't want to risk him dying in their hands, blaming it on a disease and immediately sending him out of the country to die somewhere else.

      Exactly. Our hearts go out to the Warmbier's and especially their poor, unfortunate son whom Obama abandoned, and the Methodist Church's minister who challenged Otto to commit a crime should be brought to task, too.
      The reason Obama left Otto in Kim's hands was because Otto gave that press conference where he exposed the Deep State's involvement with the Methodist Church and also this particular Secret Society he wanted to become part of.
      Otto was lured into committing a crime against North Korea by all of the above and although it was his decision, they promised him enough money to entice him into jeopardizing his safety.
      Watch #OttaWarmbier's Press Conference!
      The parents should've had an autopsy and instead of them asking, What did they do to our son? and How did he get that scar on his foot? they would know. Yes, Otto had been through enough, but if they continue to ask questions about what happened to their son, they should have an autopsy, have everything documented, who knows how it may play out in the future.

    What a weird comment, it's almost like they're actors pretending to be his parents. This is such a strange interview. I would love one of those psychologists or whoever that study body language to watch this interview and tell us what they think as there is something so wrong with this.

    • @petrasmiles1029
      @petrasmiles1029 Před 4 lety +33

      I'm one of these people so let me tell you. Those people lived for a year not sure whether their son is actually alive, the son who went for a trip to NK. For a year.. grief, anger for allowing him to go , fear mixed with hopes. Then trying to forget so you can live but feel guilt if you enjoy things in life knowing your son might or might not be alive.
      Then you get the news he is alive and you witness your son being in the worst possible state. Not sure if you have kids but for every parent seeing your healthy child being deformed and basically brain dead is the most horrific thing. There are events which make you cry and those where you don't have even any more tears to cry for.
      People are often in so called dissociated state- this is typical for people who went through so much trauma and suffering. They tell a story as if it happens to someone else. This is how they access the memory. They see themselves the picture rather than see it through their own eyes. Both of them , especially dad still sees it 'through hos own eyes'. He is on national TV as is mum. This is where it is tricky. Because they 'saw' it so many times and recalled this moment that it doesn't cause same emotions any more. They worked on it either with psychologist or themselves. You want to be emotional on TV not to come across as cold, but on the other hand, you also dealt with emotions so they are not that dramatic or people would call- how grieving parents would react. But remember it has been long time and a lot of different emotions that were learnt to be 'in control'.
      This is how people can cope to finally let go of suffering. Its normal grieving process. Their was very lenghty. However some people after tragedy 'seem' fine quickly. By no mean they are fine. They just learnt to be isolate the momory and literaly make it like a blank page. It is a survival mechanism as they know if they allow themselves to grieve they would not survive.

      Whatever it is, I know what ya mean. The first part that threw me off is when the father says so matter-of-factly that he was “systematically tortured by the Kim Jong Regime” when obviously he has no way of knowing that, so why so matter of fact sounding when it isn’t a known fact? Why no photos? No autopsy? Why no evidence? Why does their story conflict with the U.S. doctors? Why does he start to say “the Korean government paraded him around..” and then stop himself almost as though he caught himself in too obvious of a lie? Sure, tragic. I’m not denying that. But everything after that seems to be more geared towards the 500 million that the U.S. ordered North Korea to pay the parents. No autopsy? No photos? No evidence? Just the parent’s story? It really seems like they suffered a terrible tragedy, but then saw it as an opportunity to milk the legal system for all they could. There are just too many aspects of this story that five me that impression.

Had I known her body would have been embalmed I would not have been okay with that either. I think when you lose someone you love it’s still such an initial shock and it takes time to process and maybe you’re not ready for any cutting or tampering to happen to your loved one’s physical body 🤷🏾‍♀️ technically although if it’s open casket the body has to be embalmed I believe..idk I can see both sides of the story. Yes, it was idiotic of Otto Warmbier to visit North Korea, a totalitarian regime that not only punishes traitors to the government but three generations of their family as to discourage dissent. Obviously, Warmbeir's decision to visit North Korea was not wise. However, his lack of judgment did not warrant the punishment. Otto Warmbeir's imprisonment and maltreatment were likely motivated by North Korea's grievances against the United States. In Warmbier's trial for the supposed theft of North Korean propaganda, the sole piece of evidence presented against Warmbeir was a grainy film purportedly depicting the theft poster from a North Korean hotel. However, the man depicted in the video is unidentifiable. While Warmbier could not be linked to his alleged crime nor was he provided the opportunity for a defense, he was found guilty, likely so the DPRK could use him as a pawn in their war of diplomacy against the US. Even for those of you who believe Warmbier committed the crime of which he was accused, 15 years in a hard labor camp for "stealing a flag" is barbaric. Yes, it is true America has been responsible for injustices and atrocities in the past. But in no way does that lessen the savagery of the North Korean regime. For any of you readers who want an inside look at the heinous crimes orchestrated by DPRK, I would read "Escape from Camp 14: One Man's Remarkable Odyssey from North Korea to Freedom in the West." It illustrates the life of a North Korean citizen born into a forced labor camp. Through no fault of his own, the book's author is subject to deplorable conditions inside a North Korean forced labor camp and compelled to starve, kill, torcher others, be torture himself, and climb over his friend's dead body to escape to freedom. Even if the DPRK did not torture Warmbier to death, they still would have subjected the young man to the same atrocities all prisoners face in North Korean Forced Labor Camps. That is what a heinous regime looks like. Yes. Of course. Do not visit North Korea. But do not justify, even to the slightest degree, what the North Korean regime did to this 22-year-old high-school salutatorian and near University of Virginia graduate who had so much to offer the world. Comments like "If the legitimacy of a sovereign country comes down to a single instance of its treatment of prisoners, then the US lost legitimacy a long time ago" and "He should not have been behaving like a spoiled brat in the first place. Do not steal any paintings in North Korea" are disheartening as it, however minutely, serves to justify the DPRK's barbarous punishment directed toward a young man, likely on the grounds of his nationality.

    • @lillylazer429

It seems really odd that they would suddenly come out with these claims just now when anxiety with this situation is rising and concern is increasing in the population of the U.S. I have seen some articles claiming the parents' side is untrue, but I wonder what the coroner's report states since they are public record.

    "Otto had been through enough."
    Otto endured severe torture and inhumane acts by a dictator, and you have a chance to effectively use factual scientific methods to prove what they did to your son. Otto had been through everything because he was now dead. By not doing the autopsy, his death was in vane.

    I feel for these parents loss and hope their continues movement forward for healing and positive rememberers of Otto. To bring closure in Otto life and to end suffering, to see him in that state and lay him to rest is their desire right for what's best for their son. But as a parent who's child has suffered drastic changes over a period of time, and have a totally different mindset when the parents go to get him, now will have to live with the unknown question on what really happened. I have never lost a child at that or any age as of now, but if something would happen (I pray not any time soon), I would want to know what really happened, to prevent possibly letting this happen to anyone else.

  • @SergiuMoldovanDan
    @SergiuMoldovanDan Před 5 lety +2

    This is a long exposition of what I think actually happened.
    Otto was definitely set up by the North Korean secret service. Basically they made up the whole mistery with the 5th floor just to be able to eventually accuse a young, reckless, American tourist of stealing a poster which the whole world already knew, is one of the biggest fellonies in North Korea.
    Let's use common sense for a second. If the 5th floor had really been off limits and used for surveillance equipment or security staff, so in short sensitive secret inteligence, it would have been impossible for anyone to get to that floor, period and anyone who might have tried, would have ended up in prison instantly. But an online video shows that in 2011 another young guy snicked in and filmed the propaganda posters on this infamous 5th floor, without anyone from the regime saying anything. Do you really think they didn't know he was there filming? I tell you they wanted that guy to show that film, just so that the public knows about this "forbidden" 5th floor and what is there,so they can create context for the future set up of an inocent American. Now let's say that Otto had really tried to pull off this suicidal action, if they cared so much for catching an American doing anything to their holy posters on those walls, he would have been caught on sight, not just caught on a grainy potato quality cctv video that makes it impossible to identify if Otto was there or an alien was there. This proves that North Koreans had been waiting for the right American tourist to frame for this and for the right time to do so. So because they could not catch him on sight, as he was never there, they created the video. Just think about the actual quality of this video. If you start on the premise that the 5th floor is a trap and it is, (but only as a pretext in this case), I bet they actually have state of the art surveillance cameras in each corner to catch anyone wondering around the propaganda posters. Instead, all they show ,is a potato quality, pixelated video which doesn't contain Otto walking away from,or towards any camera, or not even his face, just a shade of a person taking a poster. This just shows that Otto had never been there, because otherwise they could have shown a longer, more detailed video with his entrance, movements, exit and especially his face would have been clear to see. So this 5th floor is a trap in real life, as it physically exists, has the quality surveillance ,but in the case of Otto only really matters from the perspective of their fabricated story. In consequence, because he was not there, there's no quality video and they were forced to make one up, in which you cannot see his face, come one people,think.The Koreans didn't care for the realness or validity of their accusation. Otto was the right age, right mentality of a reckless explorer who decides out of the blue to cut short his trip in China and visit North Korea. The Koreans exploited the fact that he had already done something childish, like taking a tour to North Korea, without any serious preparations and with a dubious company, which they had known for a long time, would eventually bring young Americans, that tick all the boxes for them to be able to hold them accountable for something they never did. Again if North Koreans really wanted to make a solid case against an American, by proving the accusation of ripping posters from the walls of the 5th floor, they would have been able to catch Otto on sight, or second best, get him on camera and a good one this time and nobody would be able to say anything contrary about it. Imagine that this is the state where militia and secret police is literally everywhere, at any given time, as all the people inform about everyone , so an empty, off limits floor is just a trap for our better judgment, an illusion, it is a pretext for the regime to blame the right American for something he/she never did, because everyone else already considers this as an easy to fall in trap for someone as inexperienced like Otto. It is a simple manipulation of the whole world's judgement. You create a pretext for something plausible to happen and then you can accuse exactly and the only one that fits in the already fabricated story . This way, you have already created the grounds for that thing to happen and you just make a fake video and that's it.
    Also, it is said that Otto was actually spotted by a hotel staff member, but nobody retained him to question what he was doing, until the during flight check in,for the homecoming. That is because the strategy of how to perfectly frame Otto, had not been sorted out, until the final 2 days of their staying and doing it any time sooner would have given Otto and the USA, time to make a move. I believe that the video which allegedly shows Otto taking down a post, had been fabricated a short time before the moment of their planned departure. Also the fact that they lied to the tourist company about Otto being sick and that being the reason why he can't go back with them, shows that they needed time to coerce, even torture poor Otto, into submission, to later make him admit anything. This was made so that anyone trying to prove Otto not guilty, could not do anything, untill the trial when Otto himself confessed what they instructed him to confess.
    The suicide story brought up by those who say he was not tortured, is nonsense as he accepted to look like a coward and say anything they wanted him to say in an effort to stay alive. And in this regard taking his own life is the opposite of what he was trying to do.
    But after all Otto should have never gone there in the first place, especially because of the extreme tensions of that moment between North Korea and the USA. At the time when Otto went there, they were constantly bragging about building and testing their first hydrogen bomb and while the world was super alerted about this and against any minimal basic logic, he went there anyway,just to prove he was a brave man, not a boy.
    I also believe that from all the information available at the moment, he was depraved of oxygen for long periods of time and was also heavily drugged to stay alive and this way he ended up brain dead. So they did torture him, but not by beating him, cause that would have left scars but destroying him from the inside left no marks on the body. Also they knew that using this kind of torture, the truth of what actually happened would never come to light, because they knew about his religion and that his family would never allow an autopsy.
    The regime used him to attack, America, his Church and the CIA for the purpose of their internal propaganda and for possibly mellowing the sanctions against them for the later testing of the hydrogen bomb, by using him as a negotiation leverage. After they got away with the bomb testing they decided to give Otto back but in such a horrifying state, that anyone in the free world would fear their terror. Also it was crucial for them to return Otto alive but incapable of talking, so that they can still say they did not violate human rights and that they can keep the tourism going.
    In conclusion this is clear as day, that Otto was killed for being the right person, at the right time, around (not at) the right place. I am 1 month older than Otto, and I was born in a former comunist country of Romania so I have heard a lot about the methods of manipulation and the ugly soviet ways of getting the population into submission, that Ceaușescu used which are similar to the ones used by Kim. So I empathize with the whole situation, that's why I wanted to write my thoughts about it. RIP Otto!
