    You should call this channel, Incredible, Actual, Real Facts. I know it does not roll off the tongue very well, but this channel is awesome and very informative. No B.S. No hype. And no cheap computer generated voice that cannot pronounce plain words in plain English. And for that, I thank you.

    I was a 13B40 artillery gun chief 1968 to 1970 (drafted during Vietnam war ) The M109 155 mm self propelled howitzer was an incredible battlefield weapon. We fired day and night. If there was an forward observer who gave good coordinates god help those in the impact zone!

  • @johnslugger
    @johnslugger Před 4 měsíci +3

    *They need to double the length and weight of the projectile but stay at 155mm. This would give 62 miles range (100KM). Heavy slow moving projectiles tend to stay at the same speed for way longer and shoot higher where the air resistance is thinner also adding to longer ranges. Plus the extra heavy projectile does not drift as much in high winds and does massive damage when it lands!!! I know, we tested one for DARPA at China Lake, MB Ca!*

    One thing the ukraine war has taught is that inexpensive drones, costing less than 155mm rounds, or expensive drones and missiles can be more effective and efficient.
    War is changing, but not really as young people who don't know each other are sent to kill other while old people who know each other are safe and cozy having tea.

    I had been the Head Operations Clerk for the 3rd Armored Divisions Divarty (Division Artillerry) and then a Battalion Ammo Clerk for the 42nd Field Artillery of the First Cavalry Division, and so I reallly like the Armored Self Propelled Ammo Carrier for 155 rounds. That could be loaded up at depot. Without them we had to load up 10 ton Ammo Carriers and take them out to the Field to where we have to break up the load into Battery Size loads that we'd deliver using our own ammo carriers. These transfers in the dark of night, using Light Discipline were dangerous and the year before I arrived two soldiers of the 42nd were killed in a training accident, fun over by ammo carriers at night, so, yeah, SAFETY FIRST, but these Special Purpose Combat Ready Ammo Carriers would simply Combat Deployments and make them safer.

    Now the NATO Navies build 550' shipss with only one puney 5" gun. What they need is 7" RF naval gun. Big enough for 200lb dumb shells at 25 miles, or ramjet shells with a decent sized bursting charge after flying 60 miles. Wish someone would make one. Put the 5" gun on 400' frigates!!!!

    field artillery 71-74. 155mm M-109s. this is the only video i've seen where it shows the rounds going down range. i was always amazed that you could watch the round leave the gun and see it for a few seconds, nice to see that captured.
