“In this fearful time, just before Christ is to come the second time, God's faithful preachers will have to bear a still more pointed testimony than was borne by John the Baptist. A responsible, important work is before them; and those who speak smooth things, God will not acknowledge as His shepherds. A fearful woe is upon them.” 1T, 321.2.

@@verdadabsoluta9756verdad, it seems you too have imbibed serious error as espoused by Mr. Priebe. Please understand that I have studied out Dennis Priebe's writings and sermons for over 30 years, and he believes that we are NOT born sinners needing a Saviour.
      .
So his teaching is that if one can somehow avoid sinning all their lives, they can go into heaven without ever needing the cleansing blood of Jesus Christ. Several Conservative SDA pastors preach this error. David Gates said that in one of his sermons that it is theoretically possible to enter heaven by never sinning.
      .
The Bible and SOP are both very clear that we are born sinners as we are all descendants of Adam and Eve who sinned.
      .
Without Jesus' atoning blood, we will all die in our sins.

"“The prince of this world cometh,” said Jesus, “and hath nothing in Me.” John 14:30. There was in Him nothing that responded to Satan’s sophistry. He did not consent to sin. Not even by a thought did He yield to temptation. So it may be with us. Christ’s humanity was united with divinity; He was fitted for the conflict by the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. And He came to make us partakers of the divine nature. So long as we are united to Him by faith, sin has no more dominion over us. God reaches for the hand of faith in us to direct it to lay fast hold upon the divinity of Christ, that we may attain to perfection of character. And how this is accomplished, Christ has shown us. By what means did He overcome in the conflict with Satan? By the word of God. Only by the word could He resist temptation. “It is written,” He said. And unto us are given “exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.” 2 Peter 1:4. Every promise in God’s word is ours. “By every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God” are we to live. When assailed by temptation, look not to circumstances or to the weakness of self, but to the power of the word. All its strength is yours. “Thy word,” says the psalmist, “have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against Thee.” “By the word of Thy lips I have kept me from the paths of the destroyer.” Psalm 119:11; 17:4. As in Adam all men are (spiritually) dead, then even so in Christ all men are become (spiritually) alive (1Cor 15:22).
    It's an equal equation.
As regards to their standing before God, all men's sins have been judged in Christ and all men have been acquitted in Christ who, in being "made sin for us", made an "end to sin", judicially speaking, so that in him man would become the righteousness of God (hence, there is now no condemnation in Christ Jesus but everlasting righteousness. (1Cor 5:21: Dan 9:24; Rom 8:1)
Having died with Christ all men have been raised with Christ (Col 3:1) and their life is "hid" with God (Col 3:3). The old man in Adam is reckoned (counted) by God as "dead and buried" and we are commanded to reckon ourselves as such, too (Rom 6:11). So don't fall into the trap of reckoning yourself as in Adam and subject to sin and the law of sin and of judgment for that is a denial of God's testimony to you. It's a "once and for all" work; a "finished" work.
Now, if you know you are counted as "raised with Christ", you are exhorted to seek those things that are "above" (heavenly realities) and not focus on those things that are "below" (earthly realities) - in other words you are to seek through the Spirit to "bear fruit" unto God" (Col 3:1; Rom 7:4).
But how can you know and believe and seek if you are not "alive" ; if you are not awake to, not conscious of, these facts? Its the Spirit works to bring them to your conscious awareness and direct you to the divine revelation already given and to the truth of a finished eschaton. Once you come to your spiritual senses, as it were, then its like being born again (Jn 3:3: 5:7) because you begin to live a completely different life. Once you know and believe your true standing before God, as one already identified as fully blessed and complete in Christ (Eph 1:3-7: 4:13), the new spiritual head of the human race (1Cor 11:3), then you will be compelled by the goodness of God to live from the heart what you know to be true of you within (in your spirit) and the "imperishable seed" of the new life within (Rom 2:4; IPeter 1:23) ("imperishable in that it cannot decay and be lost) will develop and grow and bear eternal "fruit".
Until then you will remain in a state (relative speaking) of spiritual death.

Adam thought he could STAND before God with a wisdom and glory of his own, a wisdom and glory which was based on a "potential human factor" one independent of God. It is what we today call "an inflated ego" ecause it leads to pride and self-righteousness and narcisstic behaviour. It is self-destructive because it leads man into falsely concluding that he is separated from God and must appease God through sacrifice and works, else God will punish him (dualism). Yet all the while, man was not separated from God and did not need to appease God. God's love for man has never changed. It was man's thinking which caused him to perceive things about himself and God, which are patently, false.
Some, and Preterists are no exception, talk about man's nature as "sinful". Its not that man was born inherently sinful by nature but that he developed a perverse way of thinking, which he has handed on to all generations.
God was patient with Adam and his descendants. He foresaw how the Adamic mindset would play out over time, in the life of Adam and his descendants. He did not immediately relate to that mind through law but all the same, that mindset created a need for law for that mindset leads to lawlessness. Nations had their own laws long before Israel entered upon the scene and was established with its own set of laws under direct rule of God. God eventually raised up a covenant people through whom He would make a full demonstration of the outworking of the mindset, that is common to all men. He spoke to man's mind through law, Mosaic Law with its types and shadows and signs. At the same time He spoke to man through the Prophets, unfolding prog, ressively over time, a revelation of the Saviour, The Lord Jesus Christ.
As Paul says in Romans 7, the Law (which ministered to the flesh) brought forth "fruit unto death" and that's because the Law was "weak through the flesh", a flesh led by "a satan" mindset, one at enmity with (adverse to) the things of God.
Finally, at the end of the last age (the age of Israel and the Jews and their world) God made a final full public demonstration of the outworking of that mindset with its so-called "wisdom and glory". We see that mindset fully demonstrated at the events leading to and at the Cross.
Finally, God brought the STANDING of the old man of sin and death to an end. And the way He brought that standing to an end, was to judge it and to destroy it and having judged and destroyedf it (Heb 2:14, to refuse to speak to it, to minister to it, to relate to it, IN ANY WAY, ever again. He ceased speaking to it through the Law and the Prophets. That mindset no longer has a standing before God. Thus it has no legacy in terms of the Law and the Prophets. That nation Israel has no legacy in terms of a people under direct rule of God.
God stopped speaking to man through the Law because He had destroyed the standing of the Adamic mindset through His Son. God stopped speaking to man via the Prophets because He had made a fulfilled revelation through His Son.
God's made an end of sin by making an end of the standing of the mind of sin. He creates in man a new mind, a mind after the mind of Christ. Man is being endowed with a new mind, the mind of the second Adam, the mind of Christ. When God awakens us from spiritual death He appeals to us saying "Let this mind be in you that was in Christ Jesus". "If you are raised with Christ then seek those things that are above, and not those which are below."
The only "standing" of "the satan" mindset today, is between people's ears, because they have made themselves ancient Israelites under the Law and the Prophets. They have read themselves into a script which they had no part in. But if they want to, then it's their choice --God will not stop them. Although He is still showing them, through the testimony of scripture, the consequences of doing so, God will not compell them to stop if they want to carry on. And, as we know, they continue to carry on because they totally refuse to accept the facts of history; the finished work of God demonstrated to the world through His Son in the events of the last days of the last generation of the last age. Thus they reap what they sow.
In effect, God says to us today, Look, if you want to go ahead and think like Adam did that's your choice but it is utter foolishness because I have fully revealed to you what happens thinking like that. I have fully revealed to you that I ceased relating to man in that way, which at that time was purely for HIS benefit and not mine, to wit, that he would see the futility of that thinking and to what it inevitably leads ---to self destruct. As far as I am concerned, man has a standing with me which I have always accorded him, which is one with Me, in love and union.
God made an end of sin by making an end of the standing of the mind of sin. He not only made an end of that mindset in Christ but He created a new mindset in Christ, the standing of the mind of righteousness. He created a man renewed after the inward spirit, a man with a new spirit after the mind of His Spirit in Christ. Man can choose to have the Adamic mindset, but equally he can choose to have the new Adamic mindset, the mind of the second Adam, the mind of Christ.
When God awakens us, individually, from "spiritual death" He appeals to us saying "Let this mind be in you that was in Christ Jesus". Why think like the old man which is self-destructive, when you can think like the new man which is self-constructive. Its your inheritance. If God raised man with Christ, then man should be consistent and "seek those things that are above, and not those which are below" (Col 3:1-3).

SIN IS DOING THINGS THAT ACTUALLY HURT PEOPLE!
A lot of Christians are made to feel very badly about thoughts, words and deeds that are NOT sinful. At the same time, many are also made to feel quite OK about thoughts, words and deeds that really are sinful!
    How to tell the difference?
The first thing to realize is what "sin" really is...and what it is NOT! There are a LOT of false teachers and preachers who do all they can to ADD on all sorts of thoughts, words and actions to what Jesus defined as "sin." In fact, he ran into the same problem in his day with self-righteous religious legalists he warned us about--"For they bind heavy burdens and grievous to be borne, and lay them on men's shoulders; but they themselves will not move them with one of their fingers" -Matthew 23:4.
Jesus made it clear what real "sin" is--doing or saying things that hurt people, which included not doing some things, like callously ignoring the suffering of others when you had the ability to help them. And to be clear, by "others," Jesus meant every human being!
But the religious legalists of today will have you thinking and FEELING terrible about the dumbest of things, just to beat you up emotionally and keep you in a state of terribly low self-esteem! Why? Because that makes it much easier for them to CONTROL YOU!
Otherwise, "getting saved" is all about that moment when you come to the realization that leading a life of doing hurtful things to others or not caring about the suffering is the most miserable way to live! The world falsely promises happiness to those who achieve riches or power or fame by using or abusing other people to obtain them! But then, they only want more and more! Why? Because their souls are STILL empty!
By contrast, the person who wakes up and realizes the only way to be happy is to lead a life of doing good and helping the suffering is FULL OF JOY on the inside! The truly "born again" person, of course, only WANTS TO do good! The true follower of Jesus looks at those trapped by the delusion of selfish (sinful) living with nothing but PITY! Not envy!
Ah, but those Christians who have been deluded into thinking God demands they give up every, single, joyful thing this life has to offer, even though they are things that HURT NO ONE, are SO MISERABLE, they do, indeed, envy others who, to their blinded eyes, are "getting away with sin," so it makes them REALLY MAD!
Often, they curse people for doing things that are not at all sinful, but only because they, secretly, wish they could enjoy doing the same things!
For these poor souls, the line between real sins (that one should feel guilt, fear and shame about) and false sins (which one should NOT feel guilt, shame and fear about) is so blurred, they cannot tell the difference!
So, the next time you are feeling guilt, fear or shame about something you've said or done or thought, ask yourself this important question--"Did I really do something that hurt somebody, or was I just told that action, word or thought was a "sin" based on some distorted interpretation of the Bible [usually, verses twisted to mean something the biblical author did not intend or words taken completely out of context]?"

Sin and sinful nature are two different things. Jesus had NO si but sinful condition as we do have and Paul makes it very clear in Romans.
If you say he had no sinful condition then he is not a good sacrifice for us as he cannot understand and know what means to be tempted.
But he had something that we don't have: humanity + divinity what actually is where we have to head on through God's grace

Sin was the transgression of the law UNDER THE OLD COVENANT Sin is also a state of lawlessness (unprincipled living). But sin is not inevitable. Evil is not inevitable. It is a choice.
Yet human beings err, because they are human -- like children, they do not know and understand all things. This is why when a person is born again of the spirit they still have to overcome faults in their life and to grow in wisdom and knowledge. On the way they will make mistakes.
Because of Adam's sin he and his descendants became darkened in the understanding of their minds. In the day Adam sinned he died -- not physically as we know -- but spiritually. The Gospel shines the light of truth into the mind of a man and he becomes spiritually sensitised --awakned once again, to spiritual realities. Its like he becomes a new creature.
Will he do wrong? Yes, Will he do wrong deliberately -- as a pattern of life? No. And if he does wrong he will repent immediately he realises his sin. Nobody is perfect and there are none who do not err in some way either by the shadow of a thought or by word or by deed.
Does the fact that a person does wrong mean that they are not born again or not Christians? Of course not. It means they have not yet attained.

You're right, this preacher does not know the Gospel. But even under the old covenant, it was not based on law keeping. Ex. 20:1ff tells us that God first Saved Israel and then gave them the ten commandments (the testimony of the covenant). The law didn't come first, it's an expression of the covenant relationship. We obey not to get saved, but because we are saved. Try telling a newly married couple that obeying the marriage vows are why they are married or the basis for it. The marriage vows are an expression of the covenant between a man and woman. Any legalistic marriage will never work.

Great points, there, Karl. I can see from your thinking that God was trying to elicit a kind of relationship with Israel Notwithstanding, I hardly think that laws that dictated the minutiae of life and thus "killed" did not help in that direction. It was after all "obey or die". Imagine a husband doing that to his wife.
