  • So for most people, the Scout fits the hand just fine. But did you know you can take the fit of the Scout to a whole new level? You can, and after watching this video, you can do it yourself, and your Scout will fit your hand like a glove.
    Maybe you have "hitch-hiker thumb" or small hands. Or maybe you have your own particular pinch grip. Or maybe you just want your Scout to be YOURS uniquely. No matter why, modifying the Scout is a fun project and the comfort level you can achieve is pretty amazing.
    So go grab some tools and have some fun!

    I'm glad the Scout fits my hand quite nicely, but it is gratifying to see this vid. I've got plans to gift some Scouts, and helping each person to customize it for their grip will be a big gift too! Well done Nathan!

    I did some shaping up higher about a year ago and it changed the feel of the slingshot tremendously. Like a glove. I also used a 1/4 round rasp to create a nice texture for grip. By sliding the file/rasp up and down or laterally as opposed to trying to remove material, it allows the cutting surfaces of the file to create grooves in the material and therefor texturing it. Similar to checkering you would find on a gun stock, but not as severe.

    I did this mod to my Gen 2 Scout last night. It worked out quite well to round the corners a bit and make it a bit more friendly to my hand as I shoot pinch-grip. So, I'm liking my Scout even more.

    Is it possible to remove the rubber grip while not affecting the thickness significantly? Er... better question is how thick is the rubber and is the plastic underneath in the same shape?

    • @Simple-shot
      @Simple-shot  Před 9 lety

      Yep, the rubber handle can be removed, it is about 1/8" thick and the underlying material is the same shape.

    why don't you just mold a smooth one for the production at the first place instead of teaching us how to smooth it?

      We did, this video is for folks who want to modify the slingshot for a custom fit.

    Any problem with doing this mod to the Gen 2 since it is polycarbonate and not nylon?

    • @Simple-shot
      @Simple-shot  Před 9 lety

      No problem, modify away, the Gen 2 is just as easy to work with.

    Will the acetone and flame polish work with any color?

    • @Simple-shot
      @Simple-shot  Před 9 lety

      Yes it will, be careful with the flame polishing! A very light touch is required.
