Yes the second horse. And I totally agree, I used to use a running martingale on my boy, all these are good tools until they are used improperly. The clues though are his behavior. And all those things used together are being used in a forced manor. H does ping over those jumps incredibly! It seems like it's more than dislike, it seems like major discomfort from this video
One problem with with athletic horses is that their backs could be in some pain, maybe the saddle pinches. Throwing their head up and pinning their ears can be a sign of some back pain. I'm sure the horse would have a bit and a martingale that's fine for him because he's an FEI jumper. We all know that the horse has a good system for care though because he's a lovely weight and is properly groomed and his tack is cleaned. As you said, he could just be sick of his job, he might just be crabby!

Oh I really hope its just the equipment. It would break my heart if he wasn't happy with his job. They wouldn't take a horse out of the circuit because he didn't like it. At least they can change a bridle but they wouldn't make him just a trail horse because of that.

No? The turns are tight, the horse has to be able to turn on a dime and half the riders messed up the distances, either deep or long. Tell me you can do this in 30 seconds, clear.

Totally - but look at all that shit he's got on his mouth. Pelham with a flash, martingale.. No wonder he had ears pinned and tail swishing all the way around the course. Poor guy the bucking along with all the other stuff are clear signs of major discomfort )-:

personally for me I don't like this type of show jumping because the horse could hurt its back loose its footing very easily and those combinations are really short stride and the horse will do long jumps
