It's hard to believe that Luke is self-taught yet he plays better than a lot of drummers that went to school.
He's had help from Matt Gartska when he made the Animals as Leaders covers, and I'm sure he's sat down with plenty of other amazing drummers. Not taking anything away from him, that would do nothing if he didn't put in the insane amount of practice time
2:18 to 2:20 is so subtle with that hi hat work but that's part of what makes Luke so good (not taking anything away from Jason!). Luke adds to much to any song he's a part of!

Taylor Powell Probably his guitar style. You do realize a huge chunk of their business comes from gospel, jazz, funk, and non-metal players right? Everybody isn't into the odd tuning, and random riffs thing. I bet they got turned off by it within the first 30 seconds of him playing.

True. But I'd like to think that most people could look past the musical style and appreciate how talented both of these guys are as musicians. To each his own I guess.

Just checked them out, and ya lol. I think it's what most drum companies do to compensate for the hate that harsher vocals have. I swear if I had a dollar for every time I've heard "Oh, I'd like that music if it wasn't for the vocals" I'd be listed in Forbes.
As one of those older drummers (baby boomer), i marvel at the footwork of the young drummers. Even though I might not like the music so much, there is great stuff going on here. I love the discipline. Thank goodness there are still players that can play.

Amazing drummer, Luke, I would just say to make his snare louder. Needs crack with all the extra notes he's throwing in. But it's amazing otherwise.
