  • In this video, How to Replace Trimmer String - Husqvarna 128LD, home renovation brothers Dave and Rich and Dave's son, Caleb show you the steps to replacing the trimmer line.
It isn't difficult, but there are a few steps.
Remove the spool and housing by depressing the two retainer tabs.
Pull the spool out of the housing.
    Discard old trimmer line.
Cut about 10 feet of new trimmer line.
Match up the ends. Pull along the line with the two ends together.
At the other end will be a loop.
Put the loop on the notch on the spool.
Wind the line in the direction of the spool arrow.
Keep the line tight as you wind.
There are 2 notches on the spool. When you have just a few inches of line to
wind, put each end of the line in a notch to hold it in place.
Put the spool back into the housing.
The housing will have 2 channels that enable the line to be dispensed.
Put the two lines into the two channels on the housing.
Reattach the spool and housing to the trimmer head by clicking it in place on the two retaining tabs on the trimmer.
    That's it!

Hi Sam, glad you are pleased with this trimmer. We use it all the time and we think it does a great job. The first time you change the line you will probably think there are a lot of steps to it, but after you change it a few times you can do it pretty fast. Good luck!

Ok, I admit I am not a lawn expert. YET!! I follow the simple directions and off I go. To the tee!! However I think I am doing something and realize hey something is up. So I stop the trimmer and there is no string. It's in the housing, i hook the folded line on notch and wind. . I'm winding in the arrow direction, crossing 1 over into notch, and the other into a notch. Align the reel onto trimmer. And put the line in the notches , 1 on either side. What the heck am I missing?

    • @Housebarons
      @Housebarons  Před 2 lety +1

Hi Carine, as you trim be sure to bump the trimmer advance button on the ground to advance the line before the line gets too short. If you don't, the string will just end up inside the housing.
We made another video that goes over the entire trimmer in detail:
      czcams.com/video/-6qg10gefqI/video.html
At the 6:50 mark we talk about this exact topic and show you a way that you can manually advance the line.
Also, sometimes the line gets crossed in the housing and you have to remove the spool and straighten it out.
      Hope this helps, good luck!

When you make the loop to hook on to the spool offset the ends by 1/2 the circumference - that way the ends will be very close to even after winding and you wont waste as much line,
