- Straight up we need to say that THIS IS NOT SPONSORED!!!! We filmed our unboxing, setting up and testing of Starlink as a while back we told you that we'd purchased it with the hopes of being able to access good internet with all the remote travel we do, and so many of you wanted us to share our experience.
So here it is... we did our first test run at Barred Creek which is a free camp just north of Broome. At present Starlink is not guaranteed in the northern areas of Australia and our phone internet in this spot was pretty crappy, so we were keen to test this bad boy out!
As always, thanks for watching and please if you enjoy our content SUBSCRIBE to our channel. Your support means we can continue bringing you regular vids like this every week!
Cheers guys!!
I have changed our WiFi password at home to "$5please". So every time one of my daughter's friends asks for the password, I reply $5 please. They usually walk away dejected. If only they knew.
You guys are funny and now our fav channel of adventurers. So many people doing adventure videos but yours are raw, unedited and funny. See you on the road soon. :)
You guys are so much fun. Great video. :)
WOW Many thanks for turning the music down . That star link is really something .. I'm just about to order one ... Thanks again for re making this vid I am sure many were interested.. Take Care guys from Qld
You guys are bloody awesome.... binge watching like The Sopranos!!! Shout out to Harry "Fire to Fork" for the heads up. Great work guys!!!
Great news cannot wait for more shows
My starlink is a game changer for me . Very poor service resolving issues though, mine took three months with the monthly payments drama I experienced. Be sure that the payments go through, it worked for four months then It was cut off. I love the shit yous put that old Kombi through.
Maaaad idea!! We got one for the same reason!! So good to see it worked well from your location!🤩
Yeah and this was ages ago! So the coverage is even better now 👍🏻
Hi 👋
Just found your channel yesterday and watched all your episodes in 27 hours straight
Love the content , kombi and little zoo zoo
Greetings from south africa 🇿🇦
Awesome, yes that will be me in a couple of months' time with a few beers under the belt trying to set up tech that I have no idea about...
Haha, Love how you said Mega Bytes per second (it's mega bits :) ) then mega pixels per second when talking about 4G...
Entertaining non the less...!
Thanks good to see raw video like this, and the size of the unit.
Haha yeah I know .. not a tech guy that’s for sure haha
Thx for doing this review! Great stuff! All I need to know abt it 👍🏼
No probs 👍🏻
Awesome video thanks guys
Thanks guys, awesome video! So very exciting for those of us who can already work remotely. I'm also keen to know what inverter you're running and how power hungry it is. 😁🤗
Love the videos, you lot are great. Obviously you run the dish through an inverter, and idea how much Amps per hour it pulls out of your 12v system?
Keep safe and thanks for all the fun videos.
considering Main Street Airlie Beach yesterday (home) internet was 0.03 Mb on 3 phone service providers I say bring it on :) thanks for doing this. Starling site states that area has no coverage.
Welcome, to the internet!
"As far north as you'd really wanna be in Australia." Mate, I live in the Torres Strait haha.
Looks like a good option for those of us remote.
This is good to know guys! Been very intrigued with how Starlink would go. Seems to be the ducks nuts. 140megabits a second is so good
its "megapixels" mate
@@opalcrafts9199 😂😂😂
perfect starlink very nice
Yaaaay your back hahah 🤙🏻🍻
I’m sitting here watching the video and all the time I’m talking to the TV “it’s not gunna’ work… StarLink doesn’t work in the north until early next year”
And blow me down…
It worked!!!
Well done guys!!!
New sub brilliant video pal
Aah there’s always good light in Broome!
Hi Guys. What inverter do you run in your van for the Starlink to work?
Hey guys, awesome video! I'm also keen to know how you guys are powering your Starlink what inverter your using and how power hungry it is or are you using a genny? 🤗
Cool nice Nature
is it maybe designed to mount to top of rv seeing it has water proof plugs
felicidades! buena inversion! hahahahha Saludos!!
Hi guys, do you power the starlink with an inverter? Also does it work for phone calls? Cheers Jeff
That was probably the worst unboxing I have ever seen. But that’s ok, youse are still the best CZcams van lifers by far.
Yes, I did get a message from you but it didn't work properly. you had to re-set it because you first had it under the annex, that was the obstacle it was talking about. hope that makes sense to you both. oh well a new toy. lol cheers.
Run it straight from your 12v battery. It can be done and it will halve your power usage (I've been informed). First thing you need to buy is a IOP. Starlink sell its Ethernet adapter for around $80. An IT smart friend of yours can adapt it and get a buck converter to up the Kombi battery to 48volts (don't panic it isn't hard to do). Anyway, all instructions are online so its an option to consider, okay.
Overseas people like Canadians and northern USA viewers can only dream of walking on a beach in OZ. The beautiful warm sun, the smooth sand between your toes and that lovely cool dip in beautiful blue sea at the end of your walk. Now that's why it's called the lucky country.
crocodiles exist
Starlink installer here... you will find that the speed will vary from time to time and you can expect up to 270Mb download but upload won't be huge.....best I have had in Victoria is around 18Mb. $139 a month is comparable to a decent 100/40 NBN fibre connection these days so I think the value is superb.
what about when hundreds more people get on the same satellites?
@@ageofatheism6638 There will be thousands of the satellites eventually....I don't foresee that being an issue. It might be initially but in the long run this system is far superior to our own NBN satellite.
@@allisterdavidson9805 Does our NBN satelitte have to be replaced every 5 years like starlink?

Curious how this works, is the RF signal like a direct beam to the dish on the ground?
Hope you guys can get out to kalcaringi for the freedom day festival. Not far from where you are. About 1000k. Not far for you 3 to get there
Thanks for the review of Starlink.- How have you found reception as you head further north?
Yeah it’s been great, but sometimes it cuts out.
That's a very expensive interwebs , my VAST system works fine, $45 a month and is 12v to boot. I would get the radiation checked as well if I were you, especially around your little girl, you will be surprised at how off the dial it will be especially at such close proximity . All the best .
You little Ripper. Keep us updated please
Can you make voice calls thought it, or is it on for data?
even with data you can make voice calls
Really curious how direct the RF signal is from the satellite to the dish on the ground with this technology? Or whether it is putting off RF signals around the whole area? Last thing you would want is one of these on top of your camper or RV IMO, just more EMF smog gradually degrading the functionality of your mitochondria and cellular function. If it is very direct that is kind of cool, maybe there is not much of a field created at all.
No idea what half those words mean.. but the internet works 👍🏻
To be honest it gave me anxiety when you saw the wifi modem and didn’t knew what it was 😂 you expected the sattelite dish to do it all?
So what's the actual monthly cost and are there any data limits?
The RV option (portable) is AU$174 a month
Up front cost for the dish and decoder is AU $980 (or thereabouts)
I’m looking at being able to work on the road… this will be a game changer
As far as I’m aware… no data limits
@morepawstravels it's a 1 TB cap
now youve gone and awakened skynet. we’re doomed! :D
How much for everything
Can we have a video everyday now 🤣🤣🤣🤙🤙🤙
Haha... if we paid someone to edit them then yes .. but where is the fun in that !!
👍👍👍👍
👐
megapixels per second 😂😂
Hahaha yeah I hate that I said that !
Thought that was funny too but we knew what he meant 😆😂😎
and when it doesn't work would make a nice coffee table ....!!
As long as it didn’t move!😂
how long did you wait for the item
only took 2 weeks
Do you have a toilet in your Van?
Are you guys planning on going to Kazakhstan?
😉

G'day Karsten and Maxine. This starlink seems to be popular. Check out Canadian Prepper on CZcams. Nate has just released an episode detailing the pros and cons of Starlink
Wow it's $174 a month plus the cost of set-up $1,000 I would not be letting anybody get your password. lol
