The film stars Teresa Palmer (“Triple 9”) as Rebecca; Gabriel Bateman (“Annabelle”) as Martin; Billy Burke (the “Twilight” franchise) as Martin’s father, Paul; Alexander DiPersia (“Forever”) as Rebecca’s boyfriend, Bret; and Maria Bello (“Prisoners”) as Sophie.
“Lights Out” marks the feature film directorial debut of David F. Sandberg, who directed the film from a screenplay by Eric Heisserer (“Final Destination 5”), based on Sandberg’s own short film. James Wan, Lawrence Grey and Heisserer produced the film, with Walter Hamada, Dave Neustadter and Richard Brener serving as executive producers.
Sandberg’s behind-the-scenes team included director of photography Marc Spicer (“Furious 7”), production designer Jennifer Spence (the “Insidious” films), editor Kirk Morri (“The Conjuring”) and costume designer Kristin M. Burke (“The Conjuring”). The music is composed by Benjamin Wallfisch.

My guess is, it's done its thing, the story's over, and maybe this director doesn't want the movie theaters to be flooded with sequel after sequel like some other great horror movies have done. The director doesn't want his movie to become one of those "the first one was good, but the rest sucked" franchises.

As a kid I used to be terrified of the dark and I always used to keep the lights on no matter what, much to the annoyance of my parents who had to pay the electricity bill. I later found out that I have nyctophobia(fear of darkness), so this movie was like a 2 hour scare fest of all my fears and nightmares put together. It’s great LOL

My physics teacher told us a story about how he'd always yell at his kid for leaving the light on his closet when he'd get ready in the morning because it "wasted money". When he soon got older my teacher of course, taught him physics. Upon learning about electricity, he learned how to calculate just how much leaving that one bulb on for a year would cost. ~2005, it would've cost him 16 cents to leave it on continuously for an entire year. The son flipped my teacher a quarter and said "we're even".

the scariest part of a horror movie is the long silence and the sudden noise... that always gets to me
I used to be scared of the dark when I was a kid. But then I went hunting at night many times and eventually realized I was the most dangerous creature roaming the woods at night. After all, it's hard to be scared of something when you have a recipe for it in your pocket.
There is a short film called ''lights out'' and it starts in the exact way this trailer starts.
This is basically the feature film version of that short film, with the same director
