    So helpful information. I was worry as to how much I should water my roses, we live in Phx it get super hot not as hot anymore currently over 100 degrees. I water my roses morning and evening as I am afraid it's not getting enough water. At the same time I'm afraid I gave it too much water. I always under water my plants I learned a lot the danger of spraying water all over my plants lol. I will stick my finger to see if my roses need water in the morning. I love my plants too much to have it die on me lol. Thank you for the tips!

      Set your empty bucket in place, then fill with desired amount of water. You don't need a plug.

      @heirloomroses  Před 11 měsíci +3

      So glad it was helpful! The plug is a wood screw. While it does not perfectly seal in the water, it is a good low-budget solution. You can also fill the bucket in place with a hose.

    I planted a bareroot rosebush the soil is clay so i dug a large hole combined maybe half the soil an half holy cow manure i did this 2 weeks ago we have had alot of rain an the soil stayed soaked for days, so the i noticed the tips of new growth is died off but the original leaves are stlll perky an green, any adive would be SO APPRECIATED. I 've looked for 10 years for this rosebush.. "Camalot " its a salom color an its so beatiful almost like in yours in the video..

    • @heirloomroses
      @heirloomroses  Před 21 dnem

      The new growth dying off is most likely due to the excess water. Pruning should help!

    Hi, I just planted my roses in the ground and mulch them well as instructed. Do I water if soil still moist under the mulch? Or the 2-3 times/week watering rule for new rose still applies despite the mulch?

    • @heirloomroses
      @heirloomroses  Před 9 dny

      Hello! We recommend testing the soil regularly. You can do this by testing the soil with your finger to know when to water. If your finger is completely dry, your plants need more water. If it is muddy, there might be too much water or not enough drainage. Another indicator of too much watering is yellowing leaves that are soft. Yellowing leaves that are dry and crispy can indicate insufficient watering. If the soil is moist, that will indicate that the watering is just right. You can also use a moisture meter like the one we sell on our website, heirloomroses.com/products/3-in-1-soil-meter-1?_gl=1*3q97hf*_up*MQ..&gclid=CjwKCAjwyJqzBhBaEiwAWDRJVBtKmTEqUpAkc97rRAGiHwnhiPjJmlt8h_PXUY2NWVCvBiasDrzgNBoCBXAQAvD_BwE

    I water my in ground roses with a soaker hose but what about roses in pots? is there a technique to water slowly? i probably could put a soaker hose in the top but not sure that’s really necessary for potted roses.

    • @mickeyholding7970
      @mickeyholding7970 Před 11 měsíci +3

      I use soakers as well, especially good here in Oklahoma during the hottest months. And as he said it helps with water evaporation and runoff.

    • @heirloomroses
      @heirloomroses  Před 11 měsíci +1

      You can use soaker hose in your pots, but it is less common. Your best bet is probably a watering can. It is still a good idea to take your time watering it.

    • @heirloomroses
      @heirloomroses  Před 11 měsíci +1

      Soaker hose is a great option for those in hot climates and is very effective.

      Hello! Good question, it can take about 3 years for a rose to reach full maturity, and since all our roses are grown on their own root the shoots from the ground are true to the variety. I hope this helps!🌹

    What about a newly planted rose ? :)

    • @heirloomroses
      @heirloomroses  Před 11 měsíci +2

      You can follow the same watering protocol for newly planted roses. It is especially important that new roses are watered deeply. If you plant in the summertime you may need to water your new rose more frequently depending on the heat.

    Why not use a watering stand pipe? Lets air down to the root zone and you can sub irrigate at the same time.
    Watering on top just makes weed seeds sprout.
