Scientology makes it easy for public officials to side with them. They invite them to huge parties where they are served with the best meals and entertainment, they are shown all of the icing (PR) on top of Scientology. And all of this gives them a warm feeling as a proud supporter. So much, that it doesn't even cross their mind to do deeper research into types of crimes they're supporting by doing this.

The concern over the wording "property line" was ignored, the definition of "targeting" was dealt with glibly, the VITAL request to defer and exempt multi-use properties was ignored. Special interests held sway. The only person to emerge unscathed in my eyes was Roy Wilson and he was misled.
100,000 happens to be one of the higher estimates, the only higher one is 200,000 scientologists worldwide. This is 152,000 fewer members than there are Jedi in just the UK according to the last UK census. Incidentaly, the last census recorded fewer than 2000 scientologists in the whole of the UK. I don't understand how any government entity can issue any type of law or ordinance infringing on free speech. The bill of rights clearly states: Bill of Rights Amendment I Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

Property Line wording was ignored and the property line wording was ignored. Even I discerned that the ordnance would exclude all protests based on the obvious wording described during the meeting based on the fact that they have residences on both sides of the road and the law says "property line". It is a disgrace that they rubber stamped this law.

It's fine that you have a faith, but their are parallels between the mormons, scientologists and other Christians. Even though you are proselytizing with kid gloves and without overt force like scientology you are still judging a man's beliefs and holding your own as superior. There are people, like me, who grew up as fundamentalist Christians and were home schooled until 10th grade denied a real education in favor of learning and memorizing bible verses. Even though escaping wasn't as sexy as leaving a cult like scientology, for us Christianity still left scars we have yet to recover from.
It was once mine as well. I do not judge believers or their faith, I only judge when they try to impose those beliefs on others or criticize others based on their arbitrary morality. If you didn't feel your beliefs are superior you wouldn't attempt to convey sympathy for a non believer. I get that you think non Christians are going to hell and you have the only path to salvation, but that is a form of arrogance and I had to accept that just as scilons have to accept their church is evil.
