There are hundreds of walks at the island, so let me make it easy for you to choose!
These were my 5 favorite hikes during my stay at Madeira!

Madeira is a magic island to go for a hike. Great views, nice whather, nice people, nice food...

I'm in the UK myself. I spoke with somebody in a bar in Funchal and he explained that wages are very low in Madeira, plus the current situation around the world has really hit tourism there. Though wages are higher in the UK the cost of living is also very high so I understand why you say you would be poorer when you go back home. Happy to hear that it sounds like you are enjoying your time here though despite the current worldwide situation. The UK also has some great places to visit as long as you can deal with the weather. Personally, I prefer the warm and sunny weather in Madeira.

Great video! I tried to visit Madeira in early December but the island was seeing heavy rains so I had to postpone my trip. Someday i'll look forward to hiking some of these trails.

Ronny Rachow I mainly used the Rother walking guide because they have detailed descriptions of the hikes and when Googling you find a lot of hiking sites. I don't remember which ones I used. I just googled "hiking madeira" plus terms like "waterfall" to find hikes I would like...

No need, there are is an app called walkmeguide that is very helfull and almost all walks are very straighforward! :)
