    That is so interesting. Here in California you call the person who posted the listing, he sends you a PDF in an email, you put in your name, electronically sign the PDF, attach a picture of an ID and email it back, send payment, and the keys are in a lockbox on the property. Moved in within 24 hours and never even met my landlord in more than 5 years.

    Hi Guys, very informative video !
    Apartments hunting in Zürich seems even more challenging than the experience I had in Stuttgart few years ago. Was your search in the city center or is the situation so also in the outer neighborhoods or surrounding town?
    Cheers!

    • @claudiaandjan
      @claudiaandjan  Před rokem +1

      Hi Tommy! Thank you very much for your comment. We were mainly searching for apartments in the city center. We also visited flats in other areas, such as Oerlikon, but the prices were not that cheaper either. Therefore, we continued looking in the center of Zurich :)

    Nice video guys, but I kinda missed the information about prices, areas of Zurich where to live (or not), types of flats (if for example is more common to find studios and you'd struggle to find a 2-room flat so you need to increase your budget...), whether utilities are included, what extras are included in flats in Zurich like fridge, washing machine.. or if it's something you need to think of when setting your budget.... I don't know, I think it would've brought so much value to your video

      Hello we really appreciate your comment! It is a lot to cover in a single video. So we did try to give as much information as we could while not making the video 30 minutes long. But you are right and we really appreciate that comment. All critic is very welcome, since it helps us to provide the best experience and information for future videos. Maybe we can make another video in the future, where we talk more detailed exactly about the points you mentioned! 💯👍
      We hope you are having a good weekend! Talk to you soon 🙏😃🙌✨

    I just signed my rent contract for an apartment in Zurich, starting at 1 June.
    After living in Germany and Austria, apartment search in Zurich turned out to be a cultural shock. The market here seems to be very tight and while there are really great apartments, I also had to stand in line along with at least 40 other people who were interested in that particular apartment. Furthermore, they require a bunch of paper work like my previous rent contract, contact info from my previous landlord, recommendations, proof of earnings, it's like applying to a job. I applied for 5 apartments got dumped from 3, no response yet from 1, and a positive response from 1 which I will rent. It's 60m2 new building and it will cost me 2600 CHF a month.

      Hello! We are very happy that you liked our video ☺️🙌 To be honest I can not remember that I saw people with a dog, when we were visiting the different apartments. However I can tell you that you can see a lot of people with dogs in Zurich and Claudia is also pet sitting dogs sometimes. Therefore there must be a numerous flats allowing to live with a dog. The people, who lived e.g in our flat before had a dog. I hope that selective information may help you 😀👍💯Have a great week! ✨🚀

    Hi Claudia, hi Jan. Here’s a Spanish guy just looking forward to moving to Zurich and hooked on your videos!
    I have a question about the rental deposit:
    If you rent a flat for several months / a year, and some time later you want to leave the flat before the end of the contract (let's say you find something better or whatever) … Do you lose the deposit?
    Thanks in advance. And I hope to see you in Zurich in the future!

    Hi guys! thanks for the video and the great tips. I heard looking for an apartment when you are still in your probatory period at work can be difficult as many landlords won´t see you as financially stable yet. What can you say about this? Ever heard of people being rejected for this reason?

      Hi! Thanks for your comment :) According to the University of Zurich's website, "you need to prove that you have the financial means to cover the costs of studying and living in Switzerland. Suitable documents include your own bank statements and confirmation of your scholarship or a guarantee from a person resident in Switzerland.". You can read more here: www.uzh.ch/en/studies/application/entry/guidelines.html#Proof_of_Sufficient_Financial_Means

    Hello guys, Could you help us in finding apartment near ETH zurich , we are coming in 1st of september any we have no idea about switzerland.

  • @akisweet1
    @akisweet1 Před rokem +1

    Our crazy story of an apartment search in Zurich city: We have lost the count of number of apartments we personally visited to see. It took 5 months of sincere effort of internet search, reaching out to tenants/owners for an appointment, visiting apartments, writing cover letters, arranging documents, making applications and then waiting for ‘no’ for an answer. In two different instances we also got tenants’ support where they went to an extent of writing reference letter for us. In fact one of them helped us through the entire application process; however, we were still not picked for both those apartments. Ultimately in September month we got lucky with the apartment in under construction building and received its possession in March. We did have to exceed our budget too.

    Iam from spain,can i come to Zurich and search job or i have to Apply from Spain,cuz iam planning to mové without work contract

    • @claudiaandjan
      @claudiaandjan  Před rokem +1

      Hey there, I think it will be very Hard without a work contract to get any flat to be honest. There is a lot of competition on the market and if someone applies to the same place as you and you don’t have a work contract, but the other person does they will give that flat to the other person.
      But you can rent an Airbnb or hostel, while you are doing your interviews onsite. However as you may imagine, these are very expensive. We have rented something on booking in the beginning to do extensive housing search and job interviewing onsite.
      We have also heard of people, who are living in Germany at the border renting something there for short term, since it is cheaper and easier. They are then traveling into Zurich via train for the interviews onsite.
      One way or the other it is quite difficult.
      Best of luck!

    Just to clarify: the Betreibungsregisterauszug has nothing to do with your criminal background.
    You could have been in Prison for killing someone and still have a clean Betreibungsregisterauszug.
