This somewhat reminds me of the idea of the movie, THE CHINA SYNDROME, which proposed the idea that a nuclear reactor consisting of heavy isotopes would melt through the floor of the reactor and, because of its relative mass, keep going through the lighter parts of the Earth. In reality, while it might even reach the water table sending up radioactive steam, running through layers of neutron absorbing material would cause it to lose criticallity.
The China Syndrome in the Oak Island case means the digging will continue down until the treasure is found. So we have 160 years of digging already with infinity on the other end. They are heading for China. Maybe they will end up in an Australian opal mine.

Have the intrepid pair thought about the effects of the ice cap melting? If they don't get a move on, the island will disappear under the sea. All the remaining bits of rotting wood, rusting iron and other crap will be lost forever.

Like RonB mentioned, the season is over with winter setting in and nothing on the news about any treasure finds. Another season down the bore hole and fans get the Royal Garden Shaft. The mystery of how Oak Island continues season after season is the real mystery.

Thank you for doing the impossible. I made it through to the first commercial break, but when they come back the recaps are just mind numbing. Fell asleep, woke up during the boat show they do, dig dug or something. Immediately fell asleep again. I really dont think Rick does the show anymore or just says the same thing over and over. OMG i am falling asleep just writing you about the most "boring " show on tv. I know how it ends! Gary finds another rusty nail, and it turns out it was made by my grandfather in 1300 who was nail maker and a supporter of the Knights Templar. Turns out the nails were too short and the treasure fell on the ground. Then that old guy that Rick hands the keys to, to hand to the Dumass, to open the lock, dies of "bore"dom

Oak Island is a tiny island surrounded by the ocean.
So why would anyone dig down 100 feet and burry treasure?
You know ground water is going to flood the tunnels at that depth.
and how did they keep out water 250 years ago?
It makes no sense but someone did dig 100 feet below the surface and somehow pumped
ground water 100 feet up to the surface.
    It makes no sense.

    • @lewisdoherty7621
      @lewisdoherty7621 Před 5 měsíci

That is why they had to come up with the flood tunnel idea. The fact that the small island surrounded by the ocean consists of glacial till which leaks like a sieve wouldn't work as an explination. For the below sea level idea to work, they had to be able to dig down in impermeable soil and then install flood tunnels. In the Middle Ages, they would have looked at the problem and thought, let's hide the treasure in the numerous places where it could be easily hidden in Europe and a place where we can recover it later. After all, what is the purpose of hiding something, if you can't recover it?

    • @johnwoa

Oak Island IS NOT surrounded by the ocean. It is a small island in Mahone Bay (Nova Scotia) just a stone's throw from the mainland ("see marine nautical chart CHS4381 on the Internet"). You ask, how did they keep out the water 250 years ago--- how about upwards of two thousand years ago? Easy! The sea level surrounding Oak island was much lower in ancient times allowing for access to the voids/cavern(s) deep beneath Oak island via shoreline entrances which are all now totally underwater. What was buried/concealed at Oak Island deep underground in the very distant past was never meant to be recovered. It is most probably an ancient religious tomb. And nobody "dug down over 100 feet" to bury/conceal it. The Money Pit was originally a deep open sinkhole that somehow connected to the "then" high-and-dry voids/cavern(s) beneath Oak Island. The "sinkhole" was then backfilled after the fact with dirt and all the securely-fastened oak log platforms to protect and conceal what was buried far below. In closing, bathymetric maps prepared in the 1990's by the Geological Survey of Canada showed an extended ancient submerged linear shoreline indicating that, in very ancient times, Oak Island was part of the mainland and was not an island! Sorry so lengthy!

@@johnwoa So I asked AI (Bard) this question:
is Oak Island surrounded by salt water or fresh water?
      AI:
Oak Island is surrounded by salt water. It is located in Mahone Bay, which is an inlet of the Atlantic Ocean. The water around Oak Island is typically around 35 parts per thousand (ppt) salinity, which is the same as the salinity of the open ocean. This means that the water is too salty to drink and is not suitable for most freshwater plants and animals.
There is a small freshwater spring on Oak Island, but it is not a reliable source of fresh water. The spring tends to dry up in the summer and freeze solid in the winter. As a result, the residents of Oak Island rely on rainwater or desalinated water for their drinking water needs.
      Then I asked AI:
what would probably be the depth at Oak Island where ground water would be found?
      AI:
The depth of groundwater on Oak Island has been measured in a few places. For example, in a well drilled in the Money Pit area, groundwater was found at a depth of 2.4 meters (8 feet). In another well drilled in the Smith's Cove area, groundwater was found at a depth of 3.6 meters (12 feet).
      My original question stands....
