Late last year I looked at buying a 2008 (to replace my 2012 308 HDi (2.0L diesel). The problem for me was the choice of engine. I had the 2.0L diesel in my 308 and it is the best engine in the current Peugeot range - nothing comes close. I like the 2008 & 208 (208 is a bit low for my aging body). They are both nice cars and ride & handle quite well. The problem for me was the engine. I don't like the 1.2 Puretech engine - lacks a bit of "get up and go" especially in Australia where I live. I ended up with a 2022 3008GT HDi (2.0L diesel) simply because it got me the engine I wanted (they are discontinued after 2022)
Love both the 208 & 2008 as cars - However in Australia they need the 1.6 or 2.0L engines for our conditions.

Diesel 208s are unavailable in the UK for unknown reasons.

I'd say a petrol hybrid gets the same fuel usage as a non hybrid diesel
