Casting RDJ as Doom feels like they really wanted seats in the theater. There’s a comic where Doom takes up the mantle of Iron Man, and a comic where Stark becomes Doom or something similar to that, but this is with the context of Victor Von Doom being around for YEARS as an established character in the comics. It’s the equivalent of making Spider-Man’s first introduction into the MCU as Superior Spider-Man, and if he’s going to not take off the mask then whats the point of it being RDJ?? Hopefully this is just messing with us and the real MCU Victor Von Doom shows up. Also, Doom being Romani is a big part of his character and I’m not entirely surprised they washed him lol

Making doom a variant of Tony Stark undoes the intersting nuances of both characters. Iron man is a morally questionable hero and doom is a villain with a strict moral compass. Combing them just makes a generic villain.

RDJ is an actor, he can come back and act for a role they think he would work well as. The Russo Brothers were also the best fit for what they have planned, so why not bring them back, especially if they want to. They've even said in the past they would love to do Secret Wars. Wow Dontai really has stopped following Marvel news. I'm not sure how big of a fan he is to be following news anyways, but a Fantastic Four movie has been announced since 2019, and we've known the main cast since February of this year. Making doom a variant of Tony Stark undoes the intersting nuances of both characters. Iron man is a morally questionable hero and doom is a villain with a strict moral compass. Combing them just makes a generic villain.

I think most people are just upset because Doom could become a major iconic villain in the MCU such as Loki and Thanos were , it doesn’t need to be a 1 for 1 translation but just sticking RDJ there, it just feels like they’re wasting a character that could be his own thing and not with who most people now will automatically think is Tony Stark or a variant if they go that route. I’m interested to see how they handle it and RDJ is a great actor but I can see why people are angry

I'm not sure how big of a fan he is to be following news anyways, but a Fantastic Four movie has been announced since 2019, and we've known the main cast since February of this year. He hasn't heard of Thunderbolts being a thing even though it was announced in 2022, and he confused the Winter Soldier for Richard Madden...

as a response to what dontai said at 18:11 - i dont see rumours as spoilers, since they're just rumours and are not proven, officially announced fact. i just wanna know about rumours to keep me excited and speculate on the future. but when it comes to the actual movie coming 'round the corner, with trailers n that, i do my best to dodge all the rumour / news channels, since they're the most likely to talk about spoilers instantly, even maybe a day before the movie is released publicly. for example, this "spoiler" that tobey and jackman are gonna be the two leads of secret wars as their respective characters - it doesn't bother me, because not only is it just a rumour with no actual evidence aside from "my source told me", but also because if those two were the leads, then that would be the front cover of the movie, it won't be a hidden secret if they're literally the leads... (wouldn't that attitude react the exact same way to being "spoiled" that rdj is returning to the mcu as a multiverse doctor doom who'll be the main villain of secret wars, and the entire multiverse saga?) also, this is what i expect from secret wars nontheless, so i don't see it as a surprise or major spoiler that tobey maguire and hugh jackman will be teaming up together in secret wars. everyone who's heard of secret wars since 2022 know what the movie's gonna be about, so we should expect something very big like all of the old actors coming back to reprise their roles. and lastly, secret wars doesn't come out for another 2 years, many things can change 😂 i seriously don't believe in some of these people's "leaked rumours" but they still get me interested nonetheless
