Blake Angelos from Yamaha demonstrates the Montage OS version 2.0 update at Kraft Music.
Yamaha Montage builds on the legacy of the DX and Motif synthesizers with sophisticated dynamic control, massive sound creation, and streamlined workflow. The Montage Motion Control Synthesis Engine and Motion Sequences offer unique ways of interacting with rhythm-based sound. Montage also provides 1.75GB of user flash memory to augment its internal AWM2 and FM-X sound engines. Seamless Sound Switching lets you change performances without any cut-off in envelope or effects. An A/D input is available for processing external audio sources through Montage's effects.
Montage is available in three configurations: Montage 6, with 61-key FSX semi-weighted synth action; Montage 7, with 76-key FSX action; and Montage 8, with 88-key weighted Balanced Hammer action with aftertouch.

I don't know if I should get this, the Roland FA, or the Korg Kronos.
As a huge fan of yamaha, I still prefer the Kronos to be honest. Montage has some nice new features, but it still sounds nearly the same level as a MOTIF... If you don´t need a FM-Synthesis, you´ll be fine with the Kronos, which I like for deep editing (you can even patch cables on a synthesizer inside the specific engine!)
Or a 2nd hand FantomG, I still use my Fantom S61 nowadays and I always prefered it over a MOTIF

Motif ES was released in 2003 having 1GB of user memory . Montage is released in 2018 having only 2GB of user memory over ES. Strange right ? .
I think Yamaha are afraid to put more user memory because in such case they won't sell future products . That's why they expand only the factory library space of new products .
So instead of putting 2 ram slots (user option if he want to buy 32gb of ram or flash or not over the 1gb of flash) they promote their new products saying that the factory sample memory was expanded from 700mb to 5 GB...etc etc . So they always maintain user memory as low as possible because they promote their new products using the factory sample memory size as marketing tactic .
This way some users will buy the new flagships because they are tired of the factory sounds and only 1gb of flash user memory is a joke ...marketing tactics folks . Is not practical to load erase and reload sound banks by staying limited in 1gb....
1 GB is still better than 128 megabytes.
Powerful Board. HUGHE LEARNING CURVE. This all appears straight forward but I highly doubt it is. Looks like a nightmare to learn.

Не верьте в эти тухлые обзоры, это отстойный синтезатор. миди клава и ноут могут полностью её заменить, а возможностей вы получите куда больше. монтаж абсолютно неудобный синтезатор и бесполезен по настройке звуков, свой нормальный звук вы вряд ли выкрутите. FM синтез у него? да не смешите. Этот убогий движек из прошлого вообще не пригоден по современным меркам. AM синтез это полный бред, что то реальное сделать на нем ооочень сложно! Короче за свои деньги этот синтезатор проиграл роланду раз в 10. дам ему дохлые 5 из 10 с натяжкой. Так себе, среднячек.
Что ж так эмоционально-то? :) А насчет возможностей - вопрос спорный. С железного синта звук всегда лучше. И живые инструменты у него вполне себе. Рояль конечно не дотягивает до кроноса, но остальное живье уделает почти все инструменты. Тем более если про роланд говорить, то у него, конечно же синтез на порядок выше всех других рабочих станций (ибо речь ведем о рабочих станциях), но не живье. Тут роланд нервно покуривает и рядом с ямахой и рядом с курцом и рядом с коргом и даже с нордом. Но в синтезе равных ему нет.
с чего такой вывод? Тестировал? сомневаюсь. Сиинт имеет два движка, пересмотрел все уже..реально делать не реальные звуки, и это реальный синт с очень чистым звуком. Насчет миди+софт = прошел это уже все, очень много времени, выдавливал все что можно с софта, но все равно теплоты, гармоник и стерерасширения не то! как не крути...а крутил много чего и много как, можешь зайти послушать) так что считаю пока этот синт эталоном звучания и собираюсь приобрести себе его в ближ. время.
