...The sad life lesson here, is that it doesn't matter if you're young if you're playing a grown up's role, and it solely comes down to how strong you can be alone in situations as such, a young warrior standing up to the world.
At that point Batman looks like the bag guy for letting the joker be alive and even saving him sometimes
Fans love reading joker stories and are willing to pay money for those comics so there is a lot of demand and dc wants to earn money by taking advantage of that demand and write these stories. What can a fictional character who does not even exist do about it? nothing. So hating him when the real reason is a real world reason is silly. Same goes to almost all comic characters especially the iconic ones.

People always blame batman for not killing his villains but fail to realize that almost all superheroes both in dc and marvel have a rogues gallery where villains keep coming back again and again only to do more evil things. Characters like the punisher are a rare exception. Captain America has a literal Nazi as a recurring supervillain and he does not kill him. People who hate on batman for not killing his villains must be consistent with their criticism and hate almost all superheroes for the same reason. Life will be very unhappy for you hating on everything like that.
In my previous comment I explained the reason why batman does not kill. The same reason is also why mist superheroes in all of comics do not kill their villains and have a recurring members in their rogues gallery.

What’s even worse, Joker had Catman and Blockbuster dress up as Batman just to beat him up and enforce that idea into Jason’s head. They tortured him just to the brink of death, patched him up just to do it all over again. All while at some point Bruce was running around above them in Asylum not knowing at all. This version of Jason is probably one of the most saddest versions I’ve seen. He deserved better.
Imagine getting tortured for a year at a asylum finding out that Batman didn’t even try to find you getting buried alive then crawling out the grave to find out that Batman got a new sidekick to replace you 💀

The part that disturbed me the most was that Batman replaced him and when Jason was begging “saying no pls no”, I just felt so sad
When I was watching how the joker tortured him in the gameplay through... I was like this is similar to a WW2-type torturing but obviously, it's the joker so it's even worse. Playing as Batman Just watching the amount of evil and pain the joker was inflicting upon him was just so tragic and depressing to watch, you can’t imagine the pain Batman must have also been through watching that tape, wishing he could do something at that moment to save Jason Todd. I Think Batman was so emotional watching the tape and I believe it was a rare moment that took place in which he let his emotions cloud his thinking and judgment because think about it how can the world’s best detective fail to see and spot the lies when joker said Jason was dead.
This scene of Batman wishing he could do something reminds me of Geralt's quote when he said: “Evil is Evil. Lesser, greater, middling… Makes no difference. The degree is arbitary. The definition’s blurred. If I’m to choose between one evil and another… I’d rather not choose at all.”

That Geralt quote is so often misused.
Yes, he did say that in the books, but the story keeps making a point of how wrong he was to think that way. He says that quote in an attempt to stay neutral when asked to take a side in a conflict and in an attempt to stick to his code of staying outside of human conflicts as a witcher but then the very next day (!) he realizes what is about to happen and then voluntarily intervenes, takes a side and commits "evil" himself because he knows that the alternative would be way worse. Thus he becomes the "Butcher of Blaviken".
Then the story progresses and some other characters (like Triss, Ciri, Codringher) nag him about his mentality of always staying neutral, avoiding taking sides and not commiting "lesser evils", saying Geralt is wrong. And as the story progresses at some point Geralt ends up breaking and outright admitting his error with quotes such as:
- ‘Ciri was right,’ whispered the witcher. ‘Neutrality... Neutrality is vile.’
- ‘You are silent,’ said Geralt. ‘That means that Ciri was right. Codringher was right. Everyone was right. Only I, the naive, anachronistic, stupid witcher was not right.’

Jason Todd is my favorite character ever created and his story is one of the most intriguing, painful, and beautiful story lines I ever read (thanks to those who killed him off). It’s just so painful to know that this kid was tortured and basically abandoned by his adoptive father because he believed the lies of Joker. Just imagine all of Batman’s villains torturing and playing with you everyday/every night (before being literally killed) all while you’ve been replaced by another Robin. It’s even said that all the Villians would disguise themselves as Batman to mentally destroy Todd before physically. All i want is a great adaptation of Jason Todd irl but i doubt that’ll happen because I would want it to be so perfect loll. On the flip side of things, Troy Baker as well as Jensen Ackles absolutely nailed their portrayals of Todd’s pain, disbelief, anger, hate, compassion, and love all for one person; Batman. If they ever make an adaption with a good actor I’ll be the first in those movie theatre seats haha. Jason Todd and his redemptions represents a lot of us who go through things, it’s his ability to never give up even when all has been lost. I especially love the brotherly relationship between him and Dick Grayson. I feel like it’s been well deserved for us fans to receive that kind of movie or show or w.3 one day. It just can’t be messed up so so far I’m content with what we have :)

People hated him to the point that they now felt helpless for the kid once you see and realize the story they caused for him to go through in Arkham Knight (the more gruesome story and not even in it’s full context). I won’t even lie being someone who watched Under the Red hood later on in life n not right away, as an outsider i could see a lot more why Jason Todd would hate Batman. I mean who wouldn’t. Later to find out that the people who watched the show actually wanted to kill him off, which actually pissed me off. I thought Jason was a cool ass robin just rambunctious. Because the people killed him off we also were revealed of this stupid little cat and mouse game the Bat plays with the Joker no matter fucking what. Some people and even Jason hate him for it n it’s reasonable. When he came back with guns i was even more happy to see him start taking out the bad guys. Even though he was “annoying” and hated by the fans people just gave up on him just like Batman. The people who killed him off are literally representatives of what Batman did. Jason Todd he had a different mentally growing up more than likely. Possibly a violent past as well, so compared to Dick, and us knowing that Jason Todd looked up to Grayson, Jason Todd just wanted to see action and actually cause physical harm to these bad guys that he was so used to seeing on the streets beforehand. Jason Todd had it more rough than Dick, growing up (imo). Todd was literally a marble block that Batman or Bruce Wayne needed to carve out into the perfect art but while doing so it took lots and lots of patience compared to the protege; Dick Grayson. Todd in general takes a lot more patience n people don’t even realize that especially cuz he’s a young teen who is rebellious and wants to punch crime in the mouth with his cool ass adoptive father. I mean who wouldn’t want To do that when u were just living day by day on the streets and even trying to steal the Bat’s tire. All he wanted to do was prove himself and now he has the coolest broken/redemption story in a character that i would ever want. I mean for crying out loud imagine all the pain he had to go through all over again once he woke up in the Lazarus pit just to travel the world training to beat Batman’s ass (even though he couldn’t cuz he was like 18 or 19 trying to fight an experienced Bat) He’s my goat however, and He is hands the best character to ever be created(imo) because of the fans themselves.

Joker understood that perfectly. He wanted to psychologically break Jason's worldview and bend it to where he permanently became a monster that would psychologically break Batman. It ultimately failed but Jason was forever severely mentally scarred, developed PTSD, suicidal tendencies, depression, schizophrenia, borderline personality disorder, and it was hinted at in Under the Red Hood when he killed the Joker that he has dissociative identity disorder in which he began repressing murderous tendencies under an alternate personality.

Apparently he was molested by the Joker several times during his torture in the Arkham comics which lead to a psychological break, he was also beaten up by every major Batman villain like Bane, Joker, Riddler, and Deathstroke.
The Joker also successfully convinced that the man he had trusted the most as a father figure, ultimately abandoned him, left him for dead and replaced him with a new son while he didn't even bother searching for Jason's deceased carcus. That left Jason so mentally scarred to the point where he couldn't trust anyone anymore, he started to believe everything that Joker said in which the Joker manipulated Jason's hurt feelings of abandonment to convince Jason to hate his former father figure, his psyche was in tatters.

It took me a second to realise that I was back in the same room. It took me a google to make me realise that I had to go to the thing in the middle and interact with it to see the cutscene. In this storyline, I’m pretty sure Joker had Jason in there for months, just torturing him for the heck of it. He also manipulated him, taught him that all of it was Batman’s fault for not finding him.

For the entertainment aspect and to rlly drive home his pain and reasoning for his hatred towards Bruce. In the comics he was raped and tortured by prisoners, joker also let every villain in Gotham have there way with Jason u can hear his screams in the Batman Vr game that’s connected to the Batman series. I saw this while playing the game late at night, i was atleast 11 and im now 14, this shit rocked me to the core, and now im finding out people get hurt worse 😔
We are in the same shit man, trauma can hit hard especially when you see this shit happening in some really hard part of your life and you start identifying to him, you understand him,share his pain, and feel just like you are him. In all my life I’ve never cried to a movie, video game, song etc… not even after a heartbreak or shits like this. But man there is an exception cuz arkham jason todd story is just the prime of tragedy, his broken father to son relationship (can touch you if you had a broken family relationship), his atrocious pain that lead him to killing the only human that ever brought joy to his life that have been hard from the start, the psychological torture that come from the feeling of being left by his only hope and his father figure, the physical torture and the pure misery in which he was during roughly 2 years. But the saddest and beautifulest part of his story is his resilience, even after all the shit he went through he still managed to get a goal which is killing batman and he did everything for this, he didn’t let himself down by all his pain and his past, and i think that Jason Todd story is just a pure masterpiece, he represents a lot for all of us and we identify in his pain, honestly I didn’t knew that others peoples than me had been psychologically marked by jason todd character and these scenes in arkham knight, i’ve also been traumatized by theses scene at the age of 13 and now i am 16, and seing theses scenes in YT reels made me very sad, hope your feeling better and i am sorry if this message seems to long or boring but know that I needed to talk about it with someone that can understand me.
