I am a follower of sungura and Zim music since late 80s when I began to understand Zimbabwean music in details. Sungura beat has a simple beat that has been followed and played with every Sungura musician, that's why ichitonzi sungura meaning it's one rhythm but flowered with artistic styles and creativity. So, because of high influx of upcoming musicians, they follow the pioneer's footsteps and add some sugar and cream to sound like its something new asi zvirichinhu chimwe saka it will sound as if uyu atora zveuyu but its just one and the same. At the end of the day, the beat or rhythm might have similarities with different keys but the lyrics makes the difference.

All sungura songs runs in the 1-4-1-5 chord progression, although there are variations. Melodies are always different and should be different because they are the ones that give artists distinction. Same melodies played on a different key will sound the same as other keys

@@MuseveTV I fully agree with you, although they use this chord progression, the key note production will be sungura beat, tipical comparison is of a form 2 syllabus but taught from different schools with different teachers producing a student who wrote a universal form 2 exam. Tese tongonzi takaita form 2... Not sure if my example makes sense but the idea is, both artists are fighting for results using or writing the same exam. It now depends kuti anofunga kudarika umwe ndiyani and ane handwriting iri smart kudarika umwe ndiyani. We, as exam markers tend to use different views on how to give points based on what pleases me...🙈🙈
