Thanks for the video. I have caught many with mine and it’s fairly straightened out. I have one that has triggered it twice with no catch. I have tried curving them while holding the spring in. Your video is gonna the fix much easier.
Hey that’s great. I’m glad to help. Catch all those things you can lol
Just ordered a gopherhawk. Thanks for the tip!
I hope that thing works for you. I’ve caught a bunch with mine. Doesn’t work very well for moles though lol. Thanks for the comment 👍
I did it!!!! It was the single grossest thing I have ever done in my life. I didn’t mean to but I kind of screamed not meaning to and probably freaked out my neighbors (I’ll apologize for sure)….but it’s done. Unbelievable.
lol congratulations keep at it. That’s not the only one you can be sure.
That was an extremely valuable tip, thanks for sharing!
You’re welcome Nick I appreciate you taking the time to watch 👍
Thanks! Good explanation!
Hope you catch all of them David. Thank you for the comment 👍
This is very helpful. Thanks.
You’re very welcome. I hope you catch all those rascals. Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment 👍
THANKS FOR THE TIP, JUST BOUGHT THE HAWK
Hey Lee thanks for the comment. I hope yours works as well for you as mine does for me. This little gadget in this video will help you with the holes if you have any trouble.

@@TheBlueberryFarmer IM GOING TO GET THE AUGER U ROCK BRO
@@leelunk8235 that thing will help you out for sure 👍
Dry firing the trap can ruin the catch wires. To unload a set trap, hold the bottom of the trap (near the catch end) and push the top of the trap tight against your body, trip the trap and let it up easy. Also, a little fresh carrot at the bottom of the trap hole before inserting the trap is sometimes helpful in catching stubborn dirt rats.
Thanks a bunch for sharing your tip 👍never have tried a carrot but peanut butter has worked great for me
And don't forget to clean them after touching them with your hands.
Also, they are replaceable, you can buy new ones too put on your trap
Thanks for the tips I appreciate it 👍
Nothing beats experience.
I agree Jeff. It takes some practice to catch those things no matter what trap you use. Thank you for the comment 👍
That part of the trap can also be replaced if they get to the point where they get a little too tired.
Thanks for the info Peace Monger. I’ve actually got an idea that might make them better. May be trying it soon.
@@TheBlueberryFarmer - It depends on the situation, but what I often do is dig out a hole at the center of the mole hill and find one of the openings to that mound. Then when I put the probe into the ground I can find how well centered the probe is. That way I end up very close to being centered on that tunnel. After I the trap set I just throw the dirt I dug out back in the hole and wait......I use three different traps and this is the best by far. 😄
@@peacemonger766 it’s definitely the best one so far. I catch hundreds of those things with mine. It’s never ending 🤦♂️
This really helps (I hope). Gonna try it. No other video covers this aspect (fixing the trap basket). I think mine is bent . No luck all year. The other issue is setting it in sand. I live within a mile of the beach and our soil is very sandy. Easy to find the tunnels, easy to see their diggings, but also easy for them to dig around the trap, I think. If anyone has tips on this I'd appreciate it.
Yeah that sand is tough some times. I seem to do better after it has rained. Definitely check those little straps on the trap. Mine doesn’t catch them very well if they don’t spread out good. Thanks for the comment 👍
I bought a couple of GopherHawks and haven’t caught a thing. I’ll have to try this tip
Hey Greg those darn things are tricky. Make sure the trap is deep enough and there’s no light getting around it and those wires are spread enough. I’m not able to catch any moles with mine due to them making shallow tunnels. And if the ground is too hard I can’t get them deep enough for the gophers either. 🤦♂️
@@TheBlueberryFarmer we’ve got lots of gophers, not too many moles.
@@gregj2647 I think we have lots of both lol and right now they are really busy with the cooler temps.
Maybe when not in use, you can also undue the spring and leave the end out so it doesn't lose shape. Don't know if directions say this.
Hey Bruce that’s a great idea. I appreciate the comment 👍
Thanks for making this video, it’s reall helpful. Do you think it’s ok if it’s at a little bit of an angle when it’s in the ground? I put it in where I have bougainvillea growing and they are so thorny and dense that I can’t get the trap to go straight up…Im wondering if it will work
Hey Laura thanks for taking the time to comment. I’ve caught several with the trap at an angle. As long as it’s in an active run it should get em 👍
@@TheBlueberryFarmer Thanks so much for your reply! I bought the trap (Gopher Hawk) on Amazon and set it yesterday…it went off in 1 hour! Today is the day I have to face my fear and empty the trap!!!😱 Incredibly gross, but I know I have to
do it😔. Thank you again for your response…here I go
@@sandiegochocolatefountains just keep in mind all the destruction those little rascals do lol
👍yes, I’m trying to hold on to that mindset. Pulling that little monster out of the ground was beyond gross, but I’m trying to be brave. I set the trap again about an hour ago and it caught another one in a very short time. Unbelievable. My sister suggested that I watch Caddyshack tonight as therapy lol….ok…back to gopher hunting. Thanks again:)
@@sandiegochocolatefountains thanks again for watching. Happy Hunting 👍
We have had no luck yet
Hey Kathy thanks for the comment 👍you got to keep after em. They are destructive little rascals.
Golfers?
They everywhere lol Thanks for the comment David 👍
