Some people think idols have everything especially twice members because of how popular twice is. But fame isn’t really everything. Sure there’s a lot of love from fans, but there’s also hate. Hate from just breathing. And most times the hate outweighs the love even though there’s more love than hate ya know? But basically if I were in Mina’s position, I’d be likely to also get anxiety and possibly depression.
Mina is introverted, but more sociable than Tzuyu, who is a lot more shy and reserved. It's good that people know the difference, because you can absolutely be an introvert, but still be good with public speaking, etc.
i think they're equal, but Tzuyu is less of that tumblr-ish vibe(?) that Mina has and just more mature which spins people off
I really don't think Tzuyu is more mature than Mina at all. She's one of the most childish members for me (not in a bad way, she's just really young and has a youthful personality), while Mina is one of more mature members for sure.
Tzuyu isn't as social because she gets embarrassed if her Korean is mispronounced and she speaks slowly because she thinking in mandarin what she's going to say in Korean. It's the other way around. She's not as fluent like the other girls, I bet in Taiwan she has more friends and jokes around. She is also a momas girl but she isn't an introvert just shy of mispronouncing Korean because her members tease her when she does. So she tries to speak very formal so they poke even more fun at her for sounding like a robot. She may not be able to express herself as she wants but she gets them back after they tease her. Her emotionless, robot like demeanor and her love for revenge scares her members.
@shalom1948hellyeah Hmm, that's a totally different definition of 'introvert' than it originally is. Introvert and Extrovert is actually all about how people regain their energy, at least that's it's 'original' definition. In this video, it's obvious that Mina likes to regain energy by watching movies and laying in bed alone. That's why it's unrelated to how well people can speak and socialize. It doesn't at all mean that introvert people are always uncomfortable and on-guard around people, or anything close to that.
I don't think saying "not mentally very quick" is right, in no way is Tzuyu less intelligent than Mina just because academic education (this is never an accurate measurement for intelligence btw), and memory also relies on interest. And about the language thing, it has nothing to do with it, she's an awkward kid all the way.
I do agree with people saying that Tzuyu is less social than Mina, going out or doing different activities does not equate to social skills. She's just not that comfortable around people whereas Mina, whether shy or introvert, still can handle social situations not just because she's more mature but because she feels more comfortable in doing so.

I feel so bad for her... she's extremely introverted but she doesn't have much time or actually none at all where she can be alone to recharge her energy. Just imagine working a very extroverted job and when you go home to rest, you can't really fully rest and fully recharge because she is still surrounded by many people. That's why on her rest days, she's always laying around because she literally has no energy left to go out and be sociable on her personal time. Even her shopping trips are very calculated, she's literally saving limited energy by being efficient either by choice or subconsciously out of self-preservation. Her social batteries are depleted and she's constantly sleep and energy deprived. No wonder she has to back down from the tour. I can tell she's finally hit her breaking point after YEARS and years of being constantly on the go, always being surrounded by people with no full rest and recharge.
I know from experience how hard it is when you finally break down and you just can't go on anymore. It's extremely hard, mentally, emotionally and physically exhausting!! It often leads to weaker immune system which makes you get sick more often, weaker physically so you're more prone to ailments, aches and pains, accidents and injuries and of course, when in pain from hurt and exhaustion of no rest and recharge - more prone to anxiety and depression.
I hope Mina gets the much needed rest she deserves. Since dealing with mental health issues are still taboo in South Korea, I hope she and all the other introverted idols can learn about MBTI so they can learn more about their introvert selves and different ways to cope with dealing with and maintaining their energy in a very extroverted industry. #GetWellSoonMina

Exactly...I can fully relate to Mina....I am also an Introvert and when I attended College, everyday surrounded with people feels kinda exhausted. Thats why when I go home I shut down and My roomates and Landlady thinks That I am a Snob. But they just cant understand and I dont have any place to recharge. I need my "me" time that I can't have in School ....I can't imagine how Mina had it all those years. Now she reached her breaking point....I hope she gets well and takes all the time to heal.

I have lapses of wanting to hide in my room and not do anything as well. I will just want to avoid all responsibilities and you will feel immense guilt about that, even if you want to get out. This isn't true. Introverts enjoy going out, it's just depending on how introverted you are, the more certain activities drain you. Depending on the activity and your introvertedness the drain can be very fast or gradual. Also the drain doesn't mean you don't have fun, it just means you need recharge time after. I'm an introvert and I like going out, but I don't need to go out very often. If I'm alone too long though I do need to go out.

It took her really big courage to become an idol like this .Even now She's still really scared of doing something new . that's what i admire about her and Tzuyu. They seem like they're such introverts and timid people but they actually dared to go to a foreign and country to follow their dreams. In Sixteen you could really see Mina struggling, i was surprised Tzuyu was one of the few members who were really relaxed and didn't stress much, she was happy most of the time(that's prolly why she was no.1 in the audience votes)

As an introvert, I knew she was also one immediately when I saw her in interviews, variety shows, and even her performances. She's very shy, very quiet, and sometimes she seems to hold back when performing because she doesn't want to be too loud. Sometimes it seems like she's uncomfortable during her verses like she can't wait to be out of the center haha. I was a performer when I was younger and I was the exact same way. She's so talented and cute and sweet. I love her.
For her, maybe is so hard to keep an idol life and need some space for herself. I understand Mina, for us (the introverts) can be so exhausted keep contact with so many people or go to places. We do our responsibilities but our time alone is necessary and so important to recharge our energy. I know everyone don't understand this but is the reality.

At the same time though having that expectation can be helpful. If you leave someone with anxiety problems inside all the time with no encouragement towards getting out, then they can end up getting stuck in a rut, and the mind can end up repeating the same thoughts and feelings that get the person down to begin with. You just have to understand the person. Encourage them to join you, but be kind, caring and accepting if they can't. Better yet, try working to their schedule: even if it's just a 10 minute trip into their back garden, the trip outside can really help clear their mind. People are often stronger than they think they are, and it's often the getting up and leaving that's the hardest part. If you can help encourage them to get past that, you may help them get some confidence back. "I can leave the house, and I can control my actions".

Im an introvert too and i enjoy staying inside my room reading books and just sipping coffee and tea but when I’m stressed or anxious, i find that going out even just by breathing in air helps lessen the anxiety and it can give you a different outlook in life and i dont mind going out with people as long as they are people i can be comfortable with. You know those friends whom you can just stay quiet while you are with them listening to their antics and they won’ t pressure you to join the conversation if you don’t t want to but most of the time you’ll end up laughing with them because they are just too funny. it’s like they can read your mind

Omg JYP announced that she's suffering from anxiety. My poor Mina.. I really cried a lot when I read articles about it. As a person with anxiety I can only imagine her struggles and how hard it is. And to think that she has this life of being always in a spotlight? Doing tours? Imagine the struggles that she went through. I have severe anxiety, not only an introvert, i just get panicked everytime people stare at me, whenever i had to talk to people im not close to, or just simply being in a crowd. I never talked to people around me abt it bcs they would never understand, they'll only say "omg just open up don't keep inside" its not that easy for me. I like to tell my story to strangers like you guys bcs i feel like there must be someone who understand and so that i don't need to reveal my identity.
Samee, I have anxiety and depression too, but I also never tell anyone about it, but I don't know if the others know even though I didn't tell, for me as I'm still a student so grades are quite important for me, I used to be top student but now Im the weakest student cuz I just can't concentrate on my studies, there're too much thoughts in my brain, but my parents and teachers never understand that, they just say I'm being lazy and scold me for that, but I don't want to be anxious and depress to, it's not like I want them, it just I can't get out of it.

The members (who are mostly extrovert or simply like being outdoors) are just commenting like that because they want to spend their free time with mina. Theyre intentions are good.Maybe they just didnt get mina's case (an introvert and very simple person) at first but i think theyre are starting to compromise and understand. Mina as well is adjusting and as she said she has changed as person because of twice. I think its not really necessary to change so much but if mina thinks that her change is good then im happy with that. You can still stay an introvert and be social
It's so sad looking back on these interviews when you realize just how long the stress of her job probably took a toll on her. My partner is incredibly sociable but also very much introverted. She's learned great coping mechanisms and sees a therapist for her anxiety. One of the biggest lessons she said she's learned overtime is finding time to 'recharge' so that she doesn't overextend herself. Introverts need that time to really rest mentally and get their focus back, especially when they work in situations where they must interact with people for extended periods of time. Given that perfection plays a huge role in K-pop on top of the fact that Twice is without a doubt one of the most sought after female K-pop groups in the industry, she probably found less and less time to give herself a proper recharge, what with Korean comebacks almost immediately being followed by Japanese comebacks.
I can't help but wonder if the realization of what the world tour would be hit her and just finally made her snap. In moments like these, we can at least be thankful that JYP has always been incredibly caring and focused on the mental well-being of his employees. He's been so respectful about her situation and given such diplomatic responses to keep her personal life private- this only further gives her the time and space she requires to figure out just what she needs to rest and heal. I think the biggest thing I worry about for her is putting undue pressure on herself in that so many people are constantly asking "Well when do you think she'll be back?" That's got to be so hard for someone going through something like this, it can make them feel like if they don't just "fix" what is wrong quickly, they will have failed again. Thankfully, so many fans seem patient and kind about her situation. I wish her well, no matter what path she takes next in life.

Introverts are usually deep thinkers and like to assess things inwardly and emotionally more so than the opposite spectrum. Mina strikes me as very graceful, and elegant. As an older female fan, she caught my eye immediately (with dorky cute Momo as her foil hehe). I admire that kind of reserve!

Take out the absolute "never" and I agree. Since the world is predominantly populated by extroverted people, society values and understands extroverted traits and behavior more than introverted behavior. This is doublefold if you are an intuitive and not a sensor as the same applies but on a harsher level, in my experience.
That's so true and it's kinda sad how some don't realize or believe that it's really for our sanity, like they'd think we're always just lazy when we don't like to go out but really it's to prevent us from draining.

It's actually really hard being an introvert..
Like when they ask you to talk cause you're being really quite so you agreed and decided to join in the conversation but only ended up embarrassing yourself cause you don't know how to communicate. .and later on you keep on overthinking about it when your by yourself. Introverts overthink a lot cause its when your alone that you can realize and think about life. So when I do something embarrassing I tend to remember about it everyday and would try to see what others see through their eyes. Like "do they find me annoying?" "don't they want to be friends with me cause Im boring"

I'm an ambivert (both an introvert and and extrovert) and I too feel you. Although I'm not fully an introvert I feel the anxiety part. I sometimes turn into a social butterfly but end up overthinking about what I was talking about with my friends thinking "do they think I'm an annoying, weird or boring friend?" " What if I..... " What if they...." I always had these thoughts in mind that I developed anxiety. Eventually my anxiety worsened and my only coping mechanism to the anxiety was by biting my hands... It's weird but yes. I bite my hands... Eventually my hands started to get bruises and it worsened day by day. My parents noticed my behaviour so they told me to stop. Now I am more controlled thanks to my parents support and understanding... My hands are a bit ugly now but they are healing... Eventually they will be fine to the day where my hands look normal..

She stays in her room to re-charge not because she hates interacting. As an introvert myself, I have to spend time alone with myself in order for me to consume energy and socialize otherwise I’d get really tired and build anxiety. As for Mina, she’s an idol, she’s in front of the camera most of the time, everything she does is monitored, people are watching every move of an idol and the thing is, she’s still around other people at home 24/7, making it difficult for her to regain her energy back which can create anxiety overtime. I’m glad she’s taking some time off because her job can take a toll on her mental health if she kept going.
I’ve never been a celebrity before and probably never will be, but I just can’t imagine the overwhelming feeling she has to deal everyday. With those consecutive schedules and tour TWICE has, I’m pretty sure Mina hasn’t been able to regain her energy back since...I don’t know, YoY era? Nevertheless, JYP management took this long to actually pull her off the stage because they know Mina’s mental issue is severe, but it’s still good that they did.
Also, her coming back to Korea with her mom, I don’t know if she’s able to make it but there are rumors that she might leave TWICE, came back to korea to fix some paper work with JYP and go back to Japan to live with her parents. OR Mina’s coming back but fans aren’t happy to hear that because they still think that she’s not completely okay. Korean people aren’t happy about her either because they think she chose the celebrity life so she has to suck it up. (Smh, I swear K-netz are a bunch of demon breeds 🙄)

I think we're similar lol. I'm an ambivert (both) so sometimes I get really excited with going out but then I get mentally tired so I rest at home. There was this one time where I had to go through 3 really extroverted days straight, I had to beg my parents to bring us home since I was drained out and tired with all of the random people I had to meet.. I mean... I love socializing but going to the thought of meeting too many (I mean like MANY) people for three days straight really did drain me out... I had to stay at home for whole day... Well.. A whole day isn't much but I legit just sat there and cried because I felt so tired, idk what the feeling was but that was the worst experience of my lif that I will never want to go through again... BUT. I'm an ambivert so I can take it for a while (maybe for a week. I know I said I tired out after three days but those 3 days were the worst of one week for me because I met soooooo MANY people in three whole days so I immediately got tired.), Mina on the other hand.... Well she's an introvert so it must have been REALY tough..

I don't want to be that kind of person but it seems like some of the members are not very understanding with her personality? It almost comes off that they're being rude at times when confronting why she doesn't want to go out. It could just be me but with my introverted personality, it really bothers me when people tell me to go out more often. Now, that's just me...I don't want some people to get the wrong impression that I'm hating but I just feel sorry for her.

It’s why mina is out on rest for awhile. She doesn’t like crowds. She doesn’t like the outdoors. She lays in her room all day is exactly what people with depression do and also people who have anxiety. People who get nervous or scared when they are outside or around large crowds of people. She has always had it. But now it has gotten worse for whatever reason. And no one seemed to notice that she needed help. At least talking to a psychiatrist to try and figure out why it was happening. But she didn’t get the help that she needed and she eventually exploded. Poor Mina. I pray for u too get well and don’t rush it. Take your time and get better. We would rather have you healthy then to be hurting. Love u Mina. Love u twice.

Aigoo I hope the members try to understand from her perspective and not pressure her too much, but yeah, they should try to compromise and they’re probably sad that she closes up on them, stays behind too many times, or flat out says no all the time. They’re probably thinking that they want her to be a team player, but I just hope they can all compromise, where Mina can also learn to not be too stubborn about it, if she is always rejecting their offers. In the interviews, it sounded like she has a way with saying things, like timing, which she is right about. But during other times, it also sounded like she was starting to feel self-loathing from the pressure. I think she has self-respect for herself in a way, despite how the others describe laying around as not being a normal or healthy thing. It’s hard, they work a lot so of course a rest day should be for resting.

Sometimes introverts become very popular and have to deal with large groups of people and that wears them down physically and mentally. A true introvert needs to "recharge" by being alone and *many* people don't understand that need. Mina, get rest and get well!
She really is a true introvert. Her hiatus is her recharging time from all that socializing and annoying stuff introverts hear all the time. Look at her now, she is very energetic, healthy, and happier than ever.

This is the most relatable thing I've ever seen. I think I could probably live my entire life in bed watching movies and be completely content.
It is different watching this now after her official anxiety disorder diagnosis, but luckily she now has more resting time and JYPE is making sure she won't force herself to go on stage when she can't. I do hope the treatment will be able to help her, because it does seem that she loves being an idol and it makes her happy, but of course for someone with anxiety this will be a lot harder. I'll hope for the best and support twice
Being introvert is the best thing because you don't have to worry about anyone or anything, just keep distant yourself from everyone and for me it's an escape form embarrassment because when someone watches me doing something I get nervous and mess everything. So I never go to a crowded places.

You only see this and interpreted for your own way, I’m introvert too but sometimes it’s good to know my friends asking me to go out with them and a lot of times if you actually follow mina, Mina actually said she wanted to join them sometime she even the first one asked them to go out, Mina also love to shopping alone. Twice’s members let her be alone, they don’t even ask her to talk in the speech in award shows since she’s super nervous about it. Her anxiety came from her injuries, she doesn’t get enough of rest and especially get worst when they’re been around haters here and there, she wanted to do the best so when she can’t perform the best she became more anxious. Mina said many times, the members are her strength, they’re her light. She will be sad if she read this kind of comments please stop assuming things. Idols get hate for everything especially Twice, Your comments only will make others attacking them for no reasons. Comments like yours are why a lot of idols suffering from mental illness.
