This was a valiant effort by the young men. We are proud of them and their willingness to represent their country. Hopefully, lessons will be learnt, and things will improve moving forward.
Well done to the men that stepped to the challenge! We salute you! So disappointed with the fastest guys who didnt do a third round in the 400m and still didnt run the relay. The reasons for pulling out as reported by the commentators sounds suspect. Just saying...
I fully agree. What is interesting is that none of them will get a medal in Paris. Their best chance to medal was in the relay and they are arrogant enough to not make themselves available.
you have a point but I believe what they wanted was for these guys to make the qualification then they get the limelight to represent on the big stage and that was unfear hence why this is the result, but they give it their all they did well I appreciate their efforts
I assume that these athletes did their best and that's all they can do. I pray that this motivates them & give them fire in their belly to train harder so they can qualify for individual & relay teams. ALL THE BEST TO ALL PARTICIPANTS.
@@StGCfiLifeIf they had the 3rd round to run at the trials, would've they still run. If they didn't have the relay, they would have ran three rounds. So that is not an excuse.
@@sweetangelplus All of a sudden this year, athletes are afraid of injuries? Whatever happened to the days when athletes just showed up and ran? This is why it’s so important to get an education, because if you’re that scared of injuries, perhaps get an education as a backup in case your knees get blown out, right?🤔
JAAA gets a lot of blame and I don't problem with that because leadership, communication, professionalism and impartiality is lacking. BUT the elephant in the room is that some of these coaches (& maybe athletes) are the problem! Why aren’t the top athletes running, if they aren't injured. It's great to focus on their individual events but think about the other team members, that this may be their only medal and about themselves because no one will be on the top forever.
Thanks to all 4 men for their Heroic efforts! Nuff respect! @JAAA can we withdraw the flat 400m from the Olympics? Asking for a friend. Can't believe that not one of the top 3 from the flat 400m showed up.... SHAMEFUL... No national pride.
As disappointed as we are, we have commended the guys who represent the country. It is sad that not even one of the three top athletes wanted to run, this tells a lot!!!!
Well done gentlemen. The sad thing about this is that if the team had make the qualifying time, these four guys who chose to pull out of the relay would be the ones running in Paris.
how about we stop blaming the monolithic 'Jamaica' now and start blaming the individuals who pulled out mere moments before the race despite being advanced to the semi-finals for the sole purpose of running the relays
The fans not disappointed with these youngsters. They gave it their all - some of them ran twice to try and qualify the team for Paris (Hayles, Rhoden and Farquarhson). They should receive the money the JAA offered to the athletes if they qualified a team for Paris or they should take THESE youngsters for the mixed relays. The circumstances on why they had to run this race is why fans are disappointed
I am not going to blame King so much. His individual event is the 400m hurdles which very challenging. But the top 3 from the flat hurdles did not make themselves available even though the relay replaced what was to be the 3rd round of the 400m. Shame on them
I thought that the flat 400m was changed to 2 rounds from 3 rounds to facilitate the top finishers participating in the 4 x 400m qualification attempt?
Malik wasn't in the 400m. He was in the 400m hurdles which he won. I can't even be mad at Malik because he participated in the World Relays AND the New Life Invitational to help try and qualify the mens 4x400m for Paris. Watkins and Bailey should have stepped up and ran this relay but instead these youngsters put country first and ran the relay to try and qualify the team.they had to scramble and find 2 runners to bring on Jamaica Gold Team due to the athletes who pulled out last minute.

If the top 3 from the flat 400m could have run and chose not to participate in the qualifying for the 4*400m then they are the ones who ultimately let Jamaica down. You would never see top runners from the US do that with their country's pride on the line.
