I think what hoshi was trying to say about pledis is that it helped him to have a more secure future for himself and not about how good their treatment was. I don't think they won't look at their other sister/brother groups like that cuz, first of all, members of those groups and seventeen are real friends like they actually keep each other in touch. But I get what you mean, even before, seventeen were not treated properly on their debut, it's just that seventeen helped pledis to rise again that's why they are getting more treatment. But also, not all causes of their groups' disbandment are about mistreatment

    Hoshi is her bias btw.
I think the funniest moment was when she said "you're tall right?" And he just said nothing. for a solid few seconds and then asked to drink again 😭.
Also I don't know what mythical curse Justin Beiber put on these kpop artist because they just seem to adore him for no reason. Like, I love Hoshi, but YUMMY??? REALLY??

Funny thing about this episode is that Hoshi actually had a dance practice with the other members literally after this. One of them even posted a video of Hoshi dancing and other than his head was down the whole way, you wouldn't really notice he just came back from a show where he got drunk lol

I think the problem with companies is that they all treat everything & everyone as business.
When you bring in money -you started to get treated well, when you dont succeed as expected -they blame the artists and treat them according to what the company thinks they are worth.
Not unless your name has a price -they wont treat you as much.
For the company - its all about money.
And as Svt being the top earner, they give svt the biggest slice of the pie (which they deserve & is smart for business).
The thing is, Pledis did invest on other groups, but sadly, the results werent as big as they expected and wanted.
After they invested on other groups, the ROI wasnt as good, and they were even in deeper debt after that.
(flashback to 2017, svt was huge that time and earning big but end of the year finance reports still states that pledis is in huge debt, they invested on pristin and other seniors that time)
So, the result is, they couldnt continue supporting other groups. Theres no follow up projects and comeback anymore because their budget isnt enough.
Now the next move shouldve been for the ceo to look for more investors, to look for more money not just for a follow up comeback but to pay their debt as well.
BUt i guess thats what the ceo failed to do.
Thats why they were stuck in the basement for a long time.
Remember that pledis ceo is a major in liberal arts specifically dance, so finance & business mgt is not his forte.
I believe thats where pledis struggled.
He is good at looking for talent and creating concepts but fails on the business side.
Svt survived because they are rowing their own boat, they debuted, they earned, what they earned was re-invested on them and continued to earn and so on. Now remember that svt is a big group in terms of number, so they need a huge budget as well, their daily operating costs for sure is a big sum. So they dont have an endless buckethole of budget.
After 2017, svt even hit bigger in 2018 and thank goodness they managed to keep the company afloat.
Also, i disagree when people say that svt got special treatment.
Because no, they did not, they were treated same as others. But the harsh ways were definitely lessened. Thats diffrent from “special treatment”.
I’m not a company Stan, I’m looking at it on the business side. I am not for Pledis nor for any capitalist company at all.
Hoshi is just thankful that he was given a chance, as an unknown individual and as a group. When people believe in you when you are nothing, (even though they were harshly treated) the fact is, the company still invested on them because the company believed in them.
After all the years that theyve been thru, thats hoshi’s appreciative heart pouring out in that short moment.

I kinda get what you meant by all companies are trash, they only treat those that bring good profit to them, and mistreat or forget about those who don't.
But, we don't know for sure what's really going on behind the closed door. Some companies like SM for example, even though f(x) was still so big and famous at that time, they were kinda forgotten as soon as SM debuted a newer group, at that time was red velvet. These k pop groups just come and go, as long as a more fresh and young group appear, people tend to switch and forget about the senior ones. The switch of different era in kpop is so fast. We are now at the 4th generation of kpop, people tend to pay more attention to those 4th gen idols, and starting to forget about the 2nd gen idols, and soon will forget about the 3rd gen idols too. I think this is why Hoshi got so insecured when they couldn't have any acitivities during pandemic.
Since being in kpop industry is very tough, sometimes being good or talented, or have enough determination are still not enough to make you big, it should involve some kind of luck and fate too. The company might have tried to do everything but the group just does not have any fate to be big, that's why it's better to disband them, and let the members to continue and pursue other things in their life. But fans would see it as a mistreatment. So, it's kinda hard and I am glad Seventeen made it big. I am not trying to discredit the other ex pledis artists who were as talented as Seventeen, but I really see that luck plays a huge role as well in kpop, and you might have a better chance and luck if you debut under big companies, people would notice you faster. Let's take a look at Le Sserafim and New Jeans, they are basically rookie but have a pretty big fanbase already. And lets take a look at those from smaller companies, they are struggling a lot just to get notice from kpop fans, even they might as talented or even better. This was the situation when Pledis debuted SVT, a lot of people speculated that they wouldn't last long. Pledis was a very small company, nearly went bankrupt, that's why it took time and hard work and also luck for SVT to win their 1st music show. And now, look at those 4th gen idols from big companies, they got a chance to win at the music show when they are still a rookie.
So, when we carats say SVT deserves it, it's not to discredit the other artists under Pledis who unfortunately didn't make it, but we know how much struggles SVT had to endure at the beginning of their career just because they came from a small company. They didn't have enough resources at that time, but the way Pledis marketed them was quite smart in my opinion, a self producing idol. From what I see, it was a huge gamble for both Pledis and SVT, and fortunately people got drawn to that and finally able to see how talented these guys are. So when Hoshi thanked their company, I think it's quite acceptable.
