Thank you for making this video. I’ve always been worried about saddle hunting because I’ve never understood how a lineman’s belt works and always thought it’s just gonna slam me up against the tree and then fall straight down. Watching you demonstrate how quickly it actually does catch you makes me much more confident in my lineman belt and using steps to get up and down the tree.

Just gotta make sure you use the belt properly and you will have no worries 👍 thanks for the comment.

Check the McNuggets. That was painful to watch. XD I've heard keeping tension is probably the most difficult thing to remember when using the lineman's belt for climbing. Once you remember that, you're golden. Thanks again for another great video with helpful info!

Just had a hawk helium kick out comeing down last week and got a chance to test mine. A little sore but saved me from a 18 ft fall. Hawk helium sticks ate very dangerous wouldn't recommend them with daisy chain unless u can get them super tight to yhe tree.

Been thinking of getting some tree gear but the fear of hight’s puts me off . But could slowly get used it being up a tree

never been worried about the strength of my ropes, have wondered what happens (if it's possible) when you end up upside down 😂😂

Hmmm it's possible I guess. But highly unlikely. You would need a lot of slack

Depends on the tree. I have had my foot slip while leaning to make a shooting lane and i went around the tree upside down. The tree had a bit of a lean to it.

I have seen multiple stories of guys having their sticks kick out and only using a linemans. Many got seriously injured even though they did not hit the ground. More than one has gotten their leg slice open by the stick as they went past it. Linemans is not for fall protection. Its a positioning device, not life saving.

It's for sure life saving, most people do not use it properly. Look at the people who do pole racing. Using your Tether there is still enough slack in it to cut your leg if the stick kicks out. Like anything you do, you need to be aware of the risks you take and be at peace with them if they do happen.

@@Mat-Miller it is absolutely not for life saving purposes. It does not always stop you. As of late in many saddle hunting groups there has been multiple peoole injured because of their sticks kicking out and the linemans not catching them. Pole racers use a grab device, not a linemans style rope like we use.

No, its just a pole belt mate, all be it, a longer one! I was an arborist for 16 years dude. A pole belt will stop you dying and by that definition is a life saving device. @@chasem21
