    haha sounds like my situation. I bought the storm about two months ago, and i cant be happier. the only thing about the storm is that you have to download a one-time update if you want it to be fast. i did and its amazing. NO LAG

  • @StefanConstantinDumitrache

    So wait, the Storm was the first phone ever to have Force Touch?

    • @ChuiStrong
      @ChuiStrong Před 8 lety +2

      No, force touch mimics a button press by using the vibrating motors. The blackberry actually has a button within the phone to actuate the press.

    For all those who hate the lag, bugs with this phone, I am with you. The first 3 months was so frustrating. I thought it was the worst phone in the world!
    I've been constantly updating it and the latest .148 version clears a lot of the bugs. It's responsive to touch and scrolls very smoothly. Most of the bugs have been worked out. Plus my screen is still scratch free... i've had my phone for nearly a year and finally enjoying it now.

    @outsider497 Před 15 lety

    It sounds like some people have good and bad experiences with the Storm. Personally, I have had very little issues with it. I love this phone. The touch/click screen is fantastic, typing takes about 3 days to get used to but after that, you can fly on it. Great browser. Excellent call quality. Cool apps are more and more available. Fun to use and the screen is beautiful. Love the way it looks. Love the way it works. People who've never used it shouldn't post bad comments on it. Old video old OS.

    Blackberries weren't meant to have touchscreen keyboards. The BB Bold blows the Storm away. Many issues with the heat-sensative touchscreen and of the three Storms that my company demoed, all three of them froze up every so often and needed to be reset. All-in-all Verizon rushed the release. (We had the latest firmware installed on ours as well.)

  • @outsider497
    @outsider497 Před 15 lety

    Thank you! The Storm is getting a bad wrap because there are so many old reviews on youtube when it was running on the old OS. Plus people in Verizon stores are getting the wrong idea because those phones are so played with and people don't know to close the apps so they keep running in the backround dragging down the speed of the phone. Also alot of reviewers only had the Storm for a short time not giving it a chance before doing the review. The more you use it, the better you like it.

    Plus not all carriers have the same good coverage as others depending on your area. In my area here, Verizon has the best. Play with the phones and see which one you like. Alot of places will let you return it in 30 days if you don't like it. Check and see if they have that option. Hope that helps and hope you find a plan and phone you like!

  • @lisak78
    @lisak78 Před 15 lety

    The BlackBerry Storm is basically a mini computer. You need to make sure you shut down applications you don't need. That means actually closing them rather than just backing out. (I had this problem.) Now, my BB Storm works perfect.
    There are 6 main apps that are always there:
    Phone
    Browser
    Home Screen
    BB Messenger
    App Center
    Messages
    At least these are the main 6 that are always on mine. If you have anything else open than these, it will slow your phone down. GL

  • @outsider497
    @outsider497 Před 15 lety

    The Storms in the stores are laggy because people are constantly playing with them leaving the apps open. You have to close them ( not with the "end" button) using the BB button and clicking "close". Pushing the "end" button leaves the apps running in the backround. The phone's trying to run all of them so it makes it laggy. I always close my apps so it runs just fine.

I plan on purchasing a Blackberry Storm soon and was wondering... when you buy one and are making the manditory payment for internet is it completely free as long as i dont actually buy anything from the app store? can i use the browser, look at games in the store, use the instant messaging/email, AND use facebook all for free without having to make any extra payments for using them?

    @outsider497 Před 15 lety

    I never thought I'd need a BB but now that I have one, I'd never get any other phone. The only con with the Storm is it takes getting used to. Especially typing. After about a week or less, you get the hang of it though. The .148 OS fixed everything on mine. As far as I'm concerned, anyone complaining about the Storm now gave it up too soon or just doesn't want to give theirselves time to get used to it. People are so impatient. Even with themselves. If you're interested in getting it, Verizon..

    Wow, I can't believe how slow your phone is. Mine reacts instantly to whatever I want to do. My phone switches from landscape to portrait really fast. Messages can be sent in landscape. Just hit the menu button then send.
    I've got 2 little bits of info to add. If you want to delete messages in bulk, hold one finger on the 1st message & another on the last. This selects every message between the 2. You can do number lock & caps lock by holding down the corresponding button for 1 second.

    LIsten, don't get super-sensitive about this. I would love to get three days use out of it, how do you achieve that? I need the bluetooth on when I am in the car, GPS is off, browser is closed, etc. Another thing with the screen is the letters/numbers on the edge respond badly.... I do not have an iphone, my son has one and his screen is scratchless and my Storm is not...

    ...most of the issues (if not all) that he mentioned, were more or less fixed by the OS 5 update (was available within 3-4 weeks after I bought my Storm) there is absolutely no screen lag (portrait to landscape) the auto correct works flawlessly (when I need it) and typing on it is a breeze (landscape is my preference) I have had zero issues with mine over the year and change that I have owned it, and I will be getting a S3 or S4 for sure.

  • @outsider497
    @outsider497 Před 15 lety

    I think it does depend on the user. I was new to Blackberry so I really like it and the way it functions. Some BB users don't like it as much as other models. There's been an upgrade so it works really good now. Verizon will let you have a 30 day trial so you might give it a try and see of you like it. It does take some getting used to but after about 3 days you get the hang of it. I'm sure the next version will be better tho. So maybe you should wait. Hope this helps.

    It's possible you have a defective one. People say the updated software, .85 or higher helps alot of issues but mine is on the .75 and works fine. Maybe you can try to exchange it for another one and see if it works better? Does your Storm still have the protective plastic that was on it when it was new? I didn't know it was on there for a long time and thought the screen was getting scratched until I pulled off that plastic. It scratches but the tempered glass doesn't . Hopefully some of this

    It's .148 and yes it did help the lagging issues. The screen is more responsive and quicker. The internet works quicker as well. It made editing text easier and the switch from landscape to portrait is much faster. As fast or faster than my ipod touch. I agree, AT&T's service is bad here too. I believe Verizon will let you try the Storm for 30 days. You can return it if you don't like it so give it a try with the new OS.

    Are you leaving the apps open? In other words, if you go to media player, games, etc. do you just push the "end" key? You have to push the Blackberry key and touch "close". The "end" key doesn't actually close the application. If you press and hold the BB key, it'll bring up a little menu and show you what's runnning. Phone, Home, Messenger, Browser are always on. Close the rest. Also sometimes pulling the battery & putting it back in after about 10 seconds will reboot it & make it run better.

  • @outsider497
    @outsider497 Před 15 lety

    Cont.- Offers a 30 day trial period. Give it a try and see if you like it. If not, return it. This is the only BB I ever had so I can't give you an honest comparison to other BBs. There's supposed to be Storm 2 coming out but it'll probably be glitchy at first. You might wait till the bugs are worked out. Storm came out too early with bugs which gave it a bad wrap at first hence the bad reviews. I'd say it's pretty much perfect now. No battery pulls. No lag. Faster browser. Personal opinion tho.

    @ArchangelExile all black berryes freeze up you have to set it up to flush every time the phone is locked or put it on a timer. thats what i do. do a weekly reset and you are good. i had my tour for over a year and it started freezing up i followed those tips and now it doesn't freeze up. its pretty fluid. it freezes more as you go along before you are doing more and all that built info is just setting there.

    Storm's been out for over 9 months. There's been 2 updates. The last one fixed everything. If you're still having issues with it, you're doing something wrong. Period. People posting here that don't have the phone or haven't had it long enough to understand how to use it. If you don't have it, didn't keep it or don't know how to use it, don't complain. Storm's sleek, fast and incredibly useful. This vid is OLD with the old OS. Before the updates. BEFORE.

    New OS 5.0.0.328 update now available. Lightning fast portrait to landscape screen, quicker camera, fancier screen to screen grapics, easier typing with word bar at the top, smooth finger swipe. Doesn't jerk to a stop anymore and the screen bounces at the top and bottom. The screen lock is also fancier and quicker. I think this is the same OS the new Storm will be operating on. This is a huge improvement. Gets better each time. This vid is a YEAR old so it's nowhere near this laggy anymore.

    Well, you'll have to shop around and see what kind of plan you'll need ( how many minutes, texting, etc. ) and see which carrier has the best price for what you'll need. Then you gotta decide on what phone to have. With the Storm, you're going to have to have a data plan which is $29.99 plus whatever the calling plan costs on top of that. I'd start with something simple but with alot of minutes and texting. You'll use those the most unless you want internet. Test phones in the stores too.

    You can say the Iphone is better all you want but for those of us who don't want to down grade to Att or Tmobile the storm is the next best thing plus the Iphone is so old its nice to have something new rather some rounded off plain phone with no appearance appeal at all. The storm is a really sleek phone.

    He merely explained how the touch screen worked. That it acts like a button is quite unique for modern devices. Most people would probably prefer a touch sensitive screen.
    But yes he may have overdone it a bit, but not enough to call for snide comments about it.
    You should also consider how thick some of the people on youtube can be, so no real harm in explaining it a bit more carefully.
