Is it just me or do tropical settings on old console graphics look more like an actual paradise than with today's graphics?
its not just you :)
I think low poly leaves more room for imagination.
Yes, agree also with YaSynAmRaUi. Plus, the colours seem to be more vibrant and the lesser details make it seem less crowdy and oppresive. Really nice asthetic.
that's because today's graphics are realistic, and real life is not magical nor fun.
@@sempiternal_futility it can definitely be magical, finding beautiful, out of this world places I mean. You won't see that in your town or city though
When you look at the static nature of an old game waiting to be played, Its as if you were looking over yourself in your childhood and just wanted to spend time together to play it.
I was not ready for this comment.
Same....@@paintballmonkey666
thats so deep and true!
Beautiful comment
Frogger PS1 home screen
Diddy Kong Racing was my first video game ever. That setting gives me so much nostalgia it’s like a place I’ve been to in my dreams so many times. N64 had some incredible looking worlds
the intro was beautiful too
diddykong was an early game for me too: I understand what you mean: a lot of my dreams feel like remembered video games
Diddy Kong Racing was such a special game that combined Adventure with Racing. One of the best N64 games for sure! I have beautiful memories playing it and I still have my N64 with most games!
@@taylenday diddy kong racing is legit even better than mario kart 64, it was ahead of its time
Diddy kong racing was my second game. First was Mario 64
I believe the "low poly" concept, which seems like an ambient vibe, is about to become its own recognizable music trend a la "Lofi Girl"

Well if you recognized it... it already is?
I'm all for that - Low Poly 🔥it just works
Low poly No Molly❤😂🎉
I've thought about this a good bit - how we love looking back on the comfort of our first consoles and game experiences. No doubting it was a simpler time, and that some of the older games were masterpieces. I love looking back on the Christmas where I got Starfox and Diddy Kong Racing and played them for many hours straight (not caring that I had no memory card and would just start over from scratch each time). I do think, though, that a big part of these feelings is that we were young and everything was so new and fresh. As we get older, things become jaded, including ourselves. There are still good games out there, games that can bring comfort and new experiences. Times do change, but we also change. Nothing wrong with nostalgia; it is one of my favorite emotions. But we can still make great memories with friends, games, life, etc. and there are still many good, fresh, new things in this world, digital and otherwise.
Seeing these familiar, nostalgic low-poly landscapes set to ambience definitely evokes some comforting childhood memories. To us 90's kids, getting to explore 3D worlds was an entirely new and mind-blowing experience. The N64 was my first 3D console, and I'd often just wander around and chill out in various spots in the worlds of my favorite games, taking in the scenery. Exploring Timber's island by land, air and sea felt almost like being on a solo vacation far away.
N64 was the sickest console ever! Landscapes from Nintendo are memorable
It was truly magical. Me and my friend would do the same; we'd just fly over the island and appreciate the scenery and music. Still remember getting this game for christmas. I could open one present in the morning and I knew which one to pick. The box art alone was awesome to look at.
You nailed it; for me it was the same except I'd endlessly explore the open world stages in Sonic Adventure, wander around FPS games or play with the various stage editor tools that came with some RTS games. I was born mid-90s so by then 3D gaming was already kind of a staple I guess, yet just as mindblowing for me back then
@@technoguyx That's awesome :) Sonic Adventure was a big one for me too. I'd wander and hang out around the Adventure Stages.
@AlfredoAVA well said , that is exactly how it felt
I typically have more nostalgia for the GameCube ps2 generation, but there is something about N64 and ps1 Landscapes that exude comfort. Not the feeling that everything will always be okay, but at least the feeling that everything is okay right now...
This music and this place feel more comfortable than the real world
That's the whole idea
Don't forget that these cool experiences are in fact part of the real world!!!!

@@ClintLock1 The wonderment you feel and the headspace you enter from entertainment are real. Reject the idea that something needs to be concrete to have sufficient meaning.
Fn CkinG Amazing Diddy Kong Racing, so much nostalgia flowing through my veins
I’m a 35 year old man who played so much diddy Kong racing as a kid that I have Diddy kong driving dreams to this day.
It’s almost like Mallworld scenario but just this big endless island I’m driving around on
Wow thats pretty cool
Low poly, like a memory. Few mechanics, like childhood. It can never be appreciated the same now as was possible then.
sure it can. plenty of great low poly games still get released in these days and you get to enjoy the benefits of modern engines as well. nostalgia is great, but lets not forget low poly doesn't have to stay an artifact of the past. it is the fuel for imagination.
this playlist farts so hard (in a great way) i'm feelin it
uhhh....thats great!!!
@@firewalker3289 fart yeah
It's good to have a look at these old poly graphics and be taken back to that special place in memory where all your good childhoods memories are stored.
that Be Pop track is unbelievable, makes you feel like you're floating
Such a welcoming atmosphere. In games today you almost feel like the games are pushing you away
Friend linked me this mix cuz he loopin' it, now i'm doing the same. nice vibe all the way through!
I'm so glad to see a resurgence in this type of music!
After 12 hours of nightmares, this is just what i needed. Makes me want to float out slowly on that water. Thanks.
what nightmare?

@@harrygreen2448this is a reposted Aural Imbalance mix, he’s from the UK himself. If you search him on CZcams you’ll find a bunch of mixes by him already posted. This channel is nothing but reposts that somehow blow up because everybody thinks he’s making them
this track helps me so much lol, it just does something that lets my ADHD and Autism Collab in harmony
There are some great ambient jungle producers and channels on youtube now and you're on the list!! Arocologies, Amen Insurgency, Pizza Hotline, Urban 99, 4AM Breaks, JH2 etc. Nice!!
Not ambient or jungle, but if you want some good breakcore check out Pisca
Love 4am breaks, Pizza hotline and Amen insurgency - will check the other ones out thanks
Great recommendations, adding Zorrovian to the list
“Ambiance” is a hidden gem as well. He “ only uploads stuff that not on youtube” .
@@Dimchek970 Also Diffusion X is a new one and is making some excellent tracks and doing some great mixes.

This is one of my new favs. All the aqua levels are my favorite ❤❤❤❤ 🌊
so chill sitting in class doin work while listening to this, always looking forward to new releases :)
Happy to hear that!😊
Smooth reverb and compression, good pacing. As a music producer, have to say this was very well done. Crisp. I dig it.
all props to the producer, the mad talented Aural Imbalance
@@firewalker3289 oh well then, kudos to him!
The pictures bring back good memories of my childhood. Jungle was bigger back then on video games.
This is nuts, the exact intersection of all my musical tastes, thank you!
This is singlehandedly carrying me through my work today. Love it!!
This is sick. There are so many jungle VGM mixes and I've been aching for something different. This is it!
What do you feel like you have been aching for?
Quality tracks. Deep cuts from obscure labels.
@@firewalker3289 Not just quality tracks and deep cuts from obscure labels, but also a variety. The problem with many mixes is that it's all one style and after an hour it gets fatiguing to listen to the same beat. I appreciate how you switch it up. Also it's 8 months later and I'm still listening to this.
The mix and background are 10/10
Listening this after eating a space cookie is amazing, remind me some memories about the video games golden hour in the 90’s era
Great upload! Im glad there's more jungle, dnb and ambient youtube channels! Bring back the nostalgia!
We are witnessing the great rebirth. And it's happening right now
@@oliround absolutely! I also have a channel that features dnb and vaporwave, main purpose is to bring back that nostalgia feel. In case you are interested: czcams.com/video/Ieni_RwoCoI/video.htmlsi=LP3i_0qqZf_Ph1Cy
bro I just found your channel, every mix I have listened to so far has been absolutely ethereal
song 2 is a banger
You are singlehandedly (maybe hyperbolic) saving my grades.
this is the goal
Relaxation Dub - Aural Imbalance (Greta Cottage Workshop) Man the "hiss" is so god damn good. I don't know why but it makes my brain think of the classic weird ascetic of the MGM Grand in Vegas. Something about LSD nitrous and the suites with sunrise views in that place...just exists in a place in my mind only accessible when I hear that deep base hiss on a track like this.
banger! thank you for the mix, helps my workflow so much
so happy to hear
This is so nice and chill and good for the end of too much browsing at the end of the night before bed. Probably also a ton of other things. Thank you
youtube always starts showing these around midnight for me, i think they know.
All of your mixes are excellent. Come on, algorithm, boost this stuff
this is the only way i can concentrate now
Finally beat Diddy Kong Racing recently. The final 2 races were insanely hard.

Awesome flow!
i speedrun dkr so this picture low key triggered me BUT I LOVE U
This mix is soooo goood
this makes me nostalgic for low poly worlds like this, where there was always something that required a skill jump or some other method of movement to get to. You HAD to master movement in the game to the point of the engines near limit to achieve. the first sight of it at the beginning of the game trying for hours to get to, and couldn't, only to find out you had to learn to slide jump or power boost off of something to get to it, and having to go back to do it, or even better, having to go back after unlocking an ability to be able to jump or power to the reward. whether that be a portal to a world or a skill reward or something. Spyro always comes to mind with needing near perfect pixel jumps to get to some hidden rewards to 100%. Home worlds need to make a comeback
well put
like the game HomeWorld needs to come back? They just released 3 last month :D
Oh Diddy Kong Racing, I'm young and live in a third world country, the only thing I wished to live was having a multiplayer opportunity with other players in any game at N64
