    Mt. Mitchell in NC is the highest point east of the Mississippi at 6,684 ft. Mt. Washington at 6,288 ft. is the most topographically prominent mountain east of the Mississippi (meaning adjacent turf is lower in elevation than that at Mt. Mitchell). Sorry, I am an elder engineer. Just the facts, ma'am!

    • @1wheeldrive751
      @1wheeldrive751 Před měsícem

      And you are correct! Another engineer here. Interestingly, you can ride or drive to the summit of both mountains. Mt. Mitchell is paved all the way up, has no fee to pay, and starts from relatively high up on the Blue-ridge Parkway. Mt Washington is also surrounded by high elevation points in the Presidential Range, but the base of the mountain is a lower point (above sea level) which makes it more prominent. It is also what makes the weather there so extreme. Both are worthy visits.

    Great to see my little home state in the BDR series! It’s certainly different than the riding out west, but NH does have its charm. Thanks, for sharing, Sterling!

      It isn’t the highest mountain because the base of the mountain is considerably higher. I’ve ridden up both. Mt Mitchell doesn’t compare to the experience of riding up Washington. Try them both and then tell me that I’m wrong.

    Thank you for creating this video series. Will ride this hopefully next year. As a native of New Hampshire growing up a few miles from Mount Washington but now living in South Dakota, it was nice to see home. A bit of fact checking for you though. As much we New Hampshire native love our beloved Mount Washington, it isn't the tallest peak East of the Mississippi. Mount Mitchell in North Carolina takes that distinction. And the 9 tallest are all in that area of North Carolina and Tennessee.
    Great series, can't wait for Maine.
    Thanks

  • @MichaelKallelisOn2Wheels

    As I understand the route, it runs through Canaan and there are some good views which you may have missed. The video jumps over that section right to Mt. Chocorua. There's some good viewing prior to that, if you take a detour here and there.

    @ 1:25 "The Brick" is said to be the oldest General Store, but Wikipedia says " is a general store located at 4 Main Street in Adamsville, Rhode Island. Founded in 1788, it operated for almost 225 years and was reputed to be the oldest continually operating general store in the United States" You see with this new found information you have now incorporated Rhode Island into your NEBDR making it a true NEBDR:) cheers

    Slime is the worse thing to use. If you ever need to plug the hole with a tire plug you cannot. The slime doesn't allow it to stick

    Your wind speed reference is incorrect. The highest ever recorded was on May 3rd, 1999 in Oklahoma City during the F5 tornado. The meters stopped at 300mph. It is thought the wind speed was even faster but the meter couldn't measure more than 300mph.

    • @MichaelKallelisOn2Wheels
      @MichaelKallelisOn2Wheels Před 2 lety

      Correct but Mt. Washington held the record for well over 100+ years, recording the highest wind speed in the world. That speed has since been exceeded. But the point still remains, it's God awful windy up there in a storm. The wood buildings are "chained" to the ground. The weather station is essentially a concrete bunker. The summit is not open to the public in the winter.

    Hey, I’m gonna make a quick critique as I just found your channel. You have great camera skills but there was so little motorcycle in this video it could’ve been made with any form of transportation. If you guys are going to talk that much and have so many long b roll shots at different locations you need to make your videos three times as long so we get a sense of the actual bikes out on the road or trail! Also, the CZcams algorithm favors longer videos so it will help your videos be found by more motorcycle CZcamsrs.. with your camera skills, longer videos will definitely help you build your watch and subscriber count!
