- Susan (Amy Adams) engages in a poignant and challenging conversation with her mother during their dinner.
Film Synopsis:
Academy Award® nominees Amy Adams and Jake Gyllenhaal star in this haunting romantic thriller from acclaimed writer/director Tom Ford (A Single Man). Susan (Amy Adams) is living through an unfulfilling marriage when she receives a package containing a novel manuscript from her ex-husband, Edward (Jake Gyllenhaal). The novel is dedicated to her but its content is violent and devastating. Susan cannot help but reminisce over her past love story with the author. Increasingly she interprets the book as a tale of revenge, a tale that forces her to re-evaluate the choices that she has made, and reawakens a love that she feared was lost. Also starring Armie Hammer and Michael Shannon, NOCTURNAL ANIMALS is a thriller of shocking intimacy and gripping tension.

The fact that we’re all scared to become the version we always hated in our parents yet it’s inevitable sometimes..this dialogue is just smart and beautiful
But I dont understand how she could became her mother when its that qualities she hated the most about her...
Its hereditary, whether by genes or a product of the environment she was raised in. People can easily slip into those same toxic traits of their parents because its become a part of them from their long childhood. It can happen subconsciously without even knowing it. Some are able to escape and be better people, but not others.
Laura Linney had only one scene on this movie, yet she certainly made an impression. She had a very valid reason for opposing Susan and Edward's marriage, considering how we know how disastrously their relationship ended.
what valid reason?
The fact that Susan and Edward were not a good match.
The fact that Susan was ambitious and strong while Edward wasn't driven enough to achieve success.
The mother had predicted that Susan would hurt Edward. And this happened. @@TheTonyEntertainment
@@barbaraludwiczak6798 Every teenage girl in America thinks like Susan but none of them can figure out why nobody is hiring them to recruit talent for giant corporations. The answer is because they have no idea what will predict success in work. This is like two women arguing over which numbers to pick in the lottery. The mom thinks being a romantic artist is the antithesis of strength, and the daughter kinda believes her thinking that she can work her ass off and then have a family. They might as well be picking odds and evens in the lotto.
The best predictor of success in creative work (and most work other than "art historian" lol) is time put in. It really doesn't what persona you wear while doing it. It's irrelevant. Susan just ends up hurting herself thinking that an aggressive attitude equates to success. Edward goes on, well-adjustd, to be happy
@barbaraludwiczak6798 in the end who is hurted ....she know his husband cheating , she cannnot do anything ......she want success in easy way ....In the end she never achieved anything . She is weaker one , really does not know what she really want including his child
@@barbaraludwiczak6798They were perfect together until SUSAN DESTROYED IT. Thats not strong, thats weak. Strong person fights for her hapiness, just like Edward did. And Edward was ambitious, he had a dream. A dream that Susan didnt support.
Need more movies from the brilliant Tom Ford. Can't keep watching Single man and Nocturnal Animals for ever...
I'd love it if Ford made a film with Boyd Holbrook.
Ray Marcus share the same hairstyle as Susan's mother cause he is based on her influence that eventually destroyed his relationship.Marcus tells him at the end that he is weak which is the same thing that Susan's mother said.
I still can't believe thats Laura Linney
i get this too well
When I heard this "you'll regret it" line in the trailer, I thought she was trying to talk her out of leaving Edward. Because she regrets it years after. I think that would have been better. This is just nonsense Susans mother is telling as reasons not to marry someone
That wouldn’t make sense. This scene shows how manipulative and pressuring Susan’s mother can be. And we can see in the end she won by convincing her daughter to leave Edward.
@@johnjoseph6874 Thats what you think when you just hear "DONT DO THIS, YOU'LL REGRET IT" because the whole point of the movie is Susan regrets. And daughters tend to realize their mother was right, and mothers tend to say to the daughters because they know whats good for them. It would make sense of a mother is warning thr daughter NOT TO THAT,not to leave Edward and that shell regret it. Because she wouldnt regret if she stayed with edward
@@nina84374 It would make sense for a GOOD mother to do that, but clearly Susan’s mom isn’t a good one. She’s judgmental and manipulative, among other things. This movie isn’t about Susan realizing her loving mother was right, its about Susan becoming the very thing she hates, which is her mother. And how her toxic traits have been passed down to her, which is part of the reason she leaves Edward. That is the regret Susan lives with. Not the one you mentioned.
@@johnjoseph6874 Dudeee, when you watch the trailer you dont know anything about the mother 😃😃 And because the movie is all about regrets, it would made much more sense that the point of the movie is speaking throught the mother. And in most cases, its "she should have listent to her mother". And naturally thats what I thought the mother was saying when i watched the trailer
@@nina84374 I understand what you thought the mother meant from the trailer lol. Obviously the trailer only gives you a tease at whats gonna happen, so naturally your gonna try and piece together the puzzle, which comes with trying to decipher what some lines mean. What confuses me is you saying it would’ve been better if the mother was trying to warn Susan not to leave Edward. Knowing what the story is about and the themes of it, it doesn’t make sense to say that would’ve been a better choice. Unless your saying you don’t like the story that was told and you’d rather it be about Susan not listening to her mother who is a good influence. Is that what your saying?
Does Jake Gyllenhaal Keeps Yelling Screaming And Gets Angry In Movies?
I dunno
few times but mostly he's quite silent
