  • My blowers would only work if I wiggled the keys in the ignition, so I set about replacing the wires on the back of the ignition barrell for £20, and it worked.

Thank you David. My son had the same trouble. I just followed what you did in the video and it was fixed. The one thing I did different was that I plugged in the replacement first and checked if it fixed the problem, then took the barrel apart.

David. Many thanks for the video. Just had the same problem and bought a new switch on Ebay for a tenner. Apart from one cable being a bit short and having to trim a small moulding off a plug to get it to fit, it took just a couple of hours work and now we have the air con back and a blower!! Without this video it would have been much longer, so thanks again.

Thank you David for taking the time to record this video, my wife's car just developed this fault but I had no inkling it was the ignition... I gave the key a quick wiggle as you showed and on came the fan! You've just saved me a day in the footwell mistakingly pulling out a perfectly working fan. Top man!

Same problem as you had , followed your guide and also needed to take out the lower facia panel to get at part of the wiring, and it now all works. Thanks for posting this.

Hello, the blower/heater motor does nothing on my Xsara Picasso (2007 Clima-Automatic). I've measure the power on the blower and there is no power. After bringing mass cable to the blower it worked. Can this problem be caused by the ignition switch too ? Xsara Picasso was manufactured 2007. Otherwise, where do I have to search for the problem ? Absolute no power on the blower motor...

    Very helpful video. Thanks.
just bought a cheap picasso.... I have no blower function and no back light to the climate control unit. Might the problem be in the climate control unit as opposed to the ignition unit?
Don't want to do all this only to find out it wasn't the problem.
    Thought? Thanks in advance.

Hi, I hope you will understand me... On my Picasso, windshield fan blowing all time and do not react on command from module from central console... I have a dilemma with that, a video you shared seems look like my problem but is this cable socket causes my problem? Thanks!

My car has the same problem but the radio and blinkers sound are affected also. Sometimes it just starts working for a min and then dies back again, other times it works for an hour. It it works everything works. One local mechanic said that water got into my ECU and that it's giving out and will die eventually. He said to try out cleaning the gold pins with electrical contact spray and a soft brush and I wasn't too happy about doing that to the pins. Could I have the same problem as seen in this video? Can anyone shed some wisdom into my case?
I hope it isthe same issue, cause my local mechanic wants 900 eur fix and replace stuff he "knows" are faulty (ECU, wiring, ignition barrel). And i just stumbled upon this video and wanted to ask what you guys think.
    I noticed this issues:
    - cabin fan is turning on and off randomly (AC compressor is working fine)
    - Radio turning on or off, refusing to turn on most of the time
    - no blinker sound or dashboard lights blinking, but they are working on the outside
    - 4 or 5 times per week I catch the orange engine light on the dashboard (top right) to blink only once for a split second, short-circuit?
    - When stuff work THEY ALL WORK TOGETHER. So there must be a common culprit, maybe main cabel?
    - The engine has 310.000km and still running BEAUTIFULLY fine appart form first gear yank that came after i got changed the gear lever cabel.
Can someone please help with some ideas and experiences with simmilar issues?

Hi David, mine is C4 hatch 2005 and the screen blow heater somestimes works and doesn't. Do you have any idea for this problem. when the outside temperature is low, for example while rainning, it doesnt work immediately but one or more than hours, It works normally.

    • @hi-screwball
      @hi-screwball  Před 8 lety

If it works occasionally it may be a faulty ignition switch. This can be caused by the pollen filter not being changed on a regular basis.
If it only works on full speed it needs a new resistor. Check out citreonpicasso.org.UK for great help and I hope you solve your problem soon.

+David Jones Hi, thank for your nice reply. I can still adjust the fan speed and If the blow heater works correctly, AC and other functions also work and vice versa. I will try to figure out the problem.anw, thanks again

I didn't when I changed the cable but highly advisable to do so as you don't want to short the electrics/fuses

Teri Wilde This is over three years since I replaced the wires. Best to type Picasso Ignition wires into eBay search and then look for your year of manufacture. Prices seem to be cheaper now. All the best.
