    Great review, I’m thinking of buying one. What do you think of the coupe version?

    • @rawtorque5265
      @rawtorque5265  Před 2 lety +1

      Cheers Buddy!! The coupe version is definitely a lot more stylish. Mechanically and interior wise it's pretty much identical. I'd say if practicality isn't your absolute priority then Coupe is worth going for, it's a lot less common

    Good review. Howo is the road noise in the cabin?

    • @rawtorque5265
      @rawtorque5265  Před 3 lety +1

      Thank you Buddy! To be honest it's totally acceptable. Not loud or harsh. Even with 20" wheels. If you're driving over a really really bad road then you will get quite a bit road noise but overall, on most UK roads its perfectly fine. The smaller 19" wheels with a fatter tyre may be a better option if cabin refinement is your priority. Obviously its not Rolls Royce or Bentley levels of refinement but its acceptable by any standard.

    Very informative, just picked up a glc250d amg line premium on a 2016 plate. The hands free automatic boot opening doesn’t seem to work is there a hidden option to turn the option on/ off?

    Do you have steering defect?

  • @jzy0104
    @jzy0104 Před 3 lety +2

    These year model cars suffer from front wheel crabbing when steering is on full lock, especially when the weather is cold. Does particular car has this issue?

    • @rawtorque5265
      @rawtorque5265  Před 3 lety

      Yes it does. Took it to Mercedes Benz as its still under warranty and they say its a "characteristic of the car" which is management speak for we messed up the design! So they won't repair it. They do suggest putting all year tyres on the car to minimise it. However, having lived with the car for nearly a year now, the crabbing isn't that bad it hardly happens for us. It only really happens at very slow speeds on full lock in cold temperatures when I'm reversing out of the driveway. It never happens at normal driving speeds and it's not dangerous at all.

      @jzy0104 Před 3 lety +2

      @@rawtorque5265 You can actually take it for warranty change of front suspension knuckle, a redesigned one as Merc finally admitted is what a design flaw. But not for the Real AMG GLC. Only the normal glc

    • @rawtorque5265
      @rawtorque5265  Před 3 lety

      Wow really? I took it to a Mercedes Benz dealership a few months ago and said its not covered by warranty as its a "characteristic of the car"

    What about tire rubbing issue?

    • @rawtorque5265
      @rawtorque5265  Před 3 lety +1

      I've done some reading and you are right!! This problem sounds familiar!! It has recently started doing this in the colder months. This is an interesting article by PH on the issue. I've been reassured by MB that it is not a mechanical or safety issue. I guess living in a cold climate does not help either. www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&f=23&t=1648890&p=1

    • @rawtorque5265
      @rawtorque5265  Před 3 lety +1

      Apparently it's a very common characteristic of all Audi Quattro models too. The sensation of the tyre skipping or rubbing comes down to a combination of changes in the tyre elasticity in low temperatures, especially if they are winter tyres and also imperfect ackerman geometry. But the tyre skipping sensation only occurs at very low speeds on full lock. It's not ideal but it's not that intrusive and I hardly use full lock anyways.

      @@rawtorque5265 i've been reading and talking to lots of people about issue, and tire change for all seasons does not fix the problem, its desing flaw. Only appears in rhd cars. When they moved steering rack from left to the right side, diff was on the way so they had to redesign whole thing and thats when they knew they f...up😁. Newest fix is to replace steering knuckle. If ur car is still under warranty its free, if its not it will cost ya £1700.
