I sure enjoyed seeing this video pop up! I always love any video that you put out. I have been praying much for you and your health and your family as well.
We are using mostly BJU for most of our curriculum next year. I have just found that most of their curriculum works good for my kid’s learning styles. ☺️
Thank you for the prayers. My health is continuing to improve. Praise the Lord!
Great wisdom in your words. I pray that with my 4th child I can have this kind of patience, lol! Love that you let them just get their thoughts out as they come and then have a dedicated time for practice with neat handwriting! ❤😊
Ohhhh the Foundations bible study looks great ❤️ Thanks for mentioning that. I was planning on having my kids read “how to read the Bible for all it’s worth” when they are a bit older but this might be a good option in the shorter term 😀
We are using BJU press for the first time! We are so excited😊
Yay! Love BJU Press homeschool curriculum! Hope you enjoy it as much as we do.
Math Mammoth for everyone that is under 8th grade, Math for Carpentry and Construction, Math for farming, and Consumer Math for my high schoolers. McGuffey's Readers for reading and language arts more middles and high schoolers. Generations Phonics for littles. Generations for history. Masterbooks and Daily Skills Building for science. Not Consumed for Bible, and Campfire Curriculum for electives. My ages for home schooling this year are 5-17 (9 total kiddos) and a 3 year old running around.
Love the 3rd grade combo from BJU and good to know we can use both HS and Sci at the same time in a rotation.
I tried the 15 free math lessons on teaching textbooks for my fifth grader and I believe we’re going to try that next year, thanks for the combo deal with BJU that sounds great!
I love when curriculum providers offer some free lessons so we can try out their curriculum and see if it will actually work for our kids. Glad to hear Teaching Textbooks worked well for your child.
For 3rd grade, we will be using Masterbooks for all core subjects. I may or may not add in my own unit studies here in there, not sure yet.
For my rising fifth and third graders we are using AmblesideOnline as our main curriculum, Science Shepherd, and Memoria Press Christian Studies for our family subjects. Memoria Press Latin. Math U See with Life of Fred. Trying to narrow down language arts is hard! It’s a toss up between Using Language Well with Fix It Grammar, Rod & Staff English or Michael Clay Thompson. My eldest will also be trying a classical writing [pilot] program. So many good options out there.
What curriculum are you using next year?
We will be using a lot of Generations curriculum, IEW and BJU press!! 🎉
I'll be using some Generations with two of my older kids. And love BJU and IEW!
Hi Janelle, we are starting All About Reading for the first time this year for my second child, starting with the pre-reading. I just have a couple of questions - do you go through all the levels of All About Reading, or do you stop when you are happy with their reading ability? And my oldest child can already read (we used a different phonics curriculum), and will be starting All About Spelling this year for the first time. If your child can already read well, would you put them in a higher All About Reading level or just skip it for that child and focus on the spelling?
Really looking forward to your reviews of the Foundations curriculum! I enjoy her podcast.
