I am an indie tarot artist and artists who self publish make the art and invest their own money to produce it. They sell the deck in shops and absolutely do make money per deck. They pay their bills with the money and support their families. It is their occupation. Why does society not value artists and their skills. It is very sad.

We do value you, and the vast majority of tarot enthusiasts will never buy a fake deck. I want you to know, though, that there are some of us that have very little money, and indie decks are simply out of reach for us. Also, I’m disabled and I can’t handle a deck larger than about playing card size, again putting so many decks out of reach for me. Just food for thought when you design your future decks, to think inclusively. And of course I wish you every success.

It's not that we don't value. It's I'm going to spendy money that I WORKED for the best way it benefits ME. It's not my problem nor my responsibility to support you. It's not my responsibility to pay your bills and feed your family because you want to be a "creator" instead of working a job. If you have something I want or need, then I will buy it. Otherwise I'm under no obligation and neither is anyone else
People get online, everyone is a keyboard warrior! Running their mouths and screaming the loudest about don't buy fake cards. The artists the artists. They're the ones that probably have the most knock off decks
I buy cards because I'm drawn to them. I like the images. I like what the deck is based on. Not once not ever have I ordered a deck because of the artists. In fact, I have about 40 something decks. Most are knock off. I don't like calling them fake. They're not fake. They're very real. I can name the artist of about 2 decks!! That's how much the artists influence me. They don't
People can say anything they want. When it comes down to it we all want what we want for as little money as possible. I love Knock Off decks. I can get 2 sometimes 3 different decks for the price I would pay for ONE original deck. I love collecting Tarot decks.
Yes I mainly use knock off decks and some of my best and most accurate readings have been with knock off decks
We're online. So you can't see my emotions or hear my expression or whatever. So please don't take me the wrong way. I'm not being or trying to be a smart a$$ to you. I'm not trying to say FVCK you I don't care. No. I'm just saying it the way it is. IDC what anyone thinks of me. I never have.
It's not anyone's fault they're buying knock off decks and not yours. They're small. Easy to use. Easy to store. Easy to buy
There's NOT a single shop in my area or any rural area around here that sells Tarot Cards. I have to travel to the city over an hour one way or order online. That applies to a lot of people. We don't exactly know what we want. We just want Tarot Cards. So we go to the site. One being mentioned in this video and we search for Tarot Cards. Then here's all these different decks come up that are very affordable!!
YES!!!! I ant this one and that one and I like that one. 🤷🤷 simple as that. IDK anyone, except for the ones in CZcams videos with $300 manicures trying to show off their FAKE nails but not their face, just THOSE!! That say, OHHHH there's a new Tarot deck by my favorite artist. I just HAVE to find that deck!!!
Nope. And most times they don't even pay for the deck!! They contact the artist or company and ask to be sent the deck for FREE, so they can review it on their CZcams. They want to make a video. Am I making sense??
You said you are an artist. You said you just really truly don't know why people don't feel obligated to hand you their money. That's what I read in your comment. So, from a customer standpoint, I explained it the best way I could.

@darkangel7820 wow...have you heard of plagerism? Indie decks have a copyright. I own the images and artwork I create. Fake decks are theft. They are produced in China so they can not be prosecuted. Stealing is unethical.

    • @mockavel213

Dont be silly. Nothing stops the ~artist~ from finding a printer to then mass produce their decks to profit off each one. Many artists CHOOSE to be art SNOBS and want their work to come off ~exclusive~ and only sell to WEALTHY patrons who can pay $$$$. Poor people deserve access to art too. Artists need to stop their obsession with only working with wealthy buyers.

  • @lucembearer
    @lucembearer Před rokem +54

Supporting fake decks hurts the artists. The money goes to people who steal artists’ works. I also wish some original decks to be more affordable, but it doesn’t make it right to support theft.

So disheartening to see anyone promote theft and say you’re “wasting your money on buying the real deal.” This is not okay. So much blood, sweat and tears goes into making the art and to produce a quality product. Buy the right size if that’s what you need, but it’s not a good reason to send people toward knock offs.

  • @NoNameOriginals
    @NoNameOriginals Před 5 měsíci +9

It is a well-known fact that if someone is buying the $10 deck over the $50 plus deck, they never would have bought the legitimate deck in the first place. There is a trade off that some artists are not aware of... Its a known fact in the book industry that pirated ebooks actually boost their physical book sales buy the old word of mouth marketing. The same can be applied to any artist industry. I have seen many reviews of "fake" decks where, in the comments, people say they love the art and will buy the real deal instead. Some even buy the real deck and then the fake one, so they have the full-size version and a portable version also. Artists, you were never losing sales because people who buy cheap knock-offs were never going to buy the real deal in the first place. Its the sad truth that many refuse out of emotional strife to understand.

I totally understand the price and size thing I really do. I don't believe that they are cursed as such or that they will affect your readings. At the end of the day it is about intention and connection however, the creator in pure heart and mind created these decks for the spiritual benefit of others. the knock offs are there and only care about money that is made. I would compare it to this...if you had some business...art, candle making, some craft like business and someone came along and copied it exactly as yours...ripped you off and sold it for a profit...how would that make you feel? I struggle with the idea of investing in a business that stole of others?

I prefer the dupes mainly because of the size. The connection I made with some of my dupes were absolutely amazing based off the size alone... lol. I still try, and support the authors as well when my money is right. The creators should be the ones making the cheaper smaller version of their cards. That way they don't give that opportunity to others🤷🏽‍♀️. I actually think it would increase their sells, and keep their money at home. I've wasted so much money on decks I never connected with.

2 other great reasons for fakes, they help you figure out if a deck is for you. If you like it alot then go buy the real versions. Nothing worse paying £20-40 for a deck to find it sitting in a box collecting dust because its not right for you. The other being that real versions are so big they are hard to carry on the go, espeically if you have multiple decks. Keep the real ones at home, fakes on the god to prevent damaging the good decks

Now I can carry it with me and not worry about losing or "ruining" it. The other 2 are decks that I cannot get shipped to my home country under ANY circumstances... I don't like to rip off creators, but if they are mass producing their own decks, shipping costs at the buyers expense should be a decision the buyer gets to make? Surely? So, sometimes it's our ONLY option. I do prefer to get the original, but sometimes its just not possible.

Never bought a fake deck. I buy used decks to save money. I do believe you make valid points that should be seriously considered by those making decks.
    1. Packaging and size. I don’t have space for excessively packaged decks and would prefer to do without. And honestly, with environmental concerns, it would be better IMHO to make minimal packaging. I have had to toss large beautiful boxes as I have no where to store them.
    2. I trim cards often as many are too big to work with comfortably.
    3. Using these as trial decks sounds awesome actually. Nothing worse than buying a deck, not connecting with it, and being stuck with it. Everyone doesn’t live in an area where stores easily take returns.

What I see is that many people ranting against knock-offs actually do not care about the creator, what they really care about is being able to show off their supposed ‘moral superiority’ by buying the original decks. There was a time when there was not any tarot decks but the Tarot of Marseilles and the Rider Waite, some people didn’t even needed those but plain playing cards and other didn’t even need cards at all… No showing off their fancy boxes or decks, if they bought an original tarot or not… If your product is great people will definitely buy it no matter the price or if there are fake copies or not. It’s like people do not know how the real world works…

Many of the decks that I've "test driven" would not have had an original product purchase from me for ($50-$100) without the opportunity to try them first. Also the smaller reproductions are much more portable. if they are lost or stolen from a suitcase they are ez and cheap to replace (though I will call the thief bad names). I agree with you. I don’t think it harms the artist because some of these decks cost €100 and I am never going to pay that much even if counterfeits are not available. I also see the cards as “samples” or “trial products.” If I like them, then I can consider purchasing the higher quality originals. Like I have Santa Muerte Tarot by Lo Scarabeo and while I love some of the cards, others I can’t interpret no matter how many times I read the book. I don’t get along with almost all of the pentacles and the 10s in the suits are just butterflies. Also, I cannot shuffle these cards: they are too large and stiff. They are not very expensive but for the same price, I could have bought 4 counterfeit decks and seen which artwork worked the best for me. Currently, I am interested in tarot of the abyss but it is safer to buy a €4 deck for a trial run rather than commit to a €30 purchase

Hi thanks for your reviews and opinions of these copy decks. I do prefer the originals where possible, but the cost can be a bit much. The originals do have a nice magic to them I must admit but these copies do a different job. They might not give the creators any revenue back but what they do is they promote the decks in a different way. Many people would not make themselves familiar with many original decks because of cost but the copies give a broader audience to the decks and perhaps many will like the copies and go ahead and buy an original deck. This is the world we live in so we can't stop copy decks, but we can find a positive for using them.

That also means you will end up with a free deck. Or almost free. Lets say you payed 4.30 for a deck and its faulted: ask for 4 euro’s back (do an unpacking on video so you have proof) and in about a week the 4 euro is back on your account. Currently there is a deck on etsy that I want but in the states its 21$ and converted to Canadian in my province it would be 56$ and some odd cents then add a 20$ shipping fee and add a duty fee , that can be pretty pricey really quick... People should understand that not everyone is willing to blow 100$ on what would be a 20$ deck in another country....
I like fakes cause then it helps me decide if I truly want the real one or if its just FOMO....

You already know I LOVE Knock Off decks!!
I have this deck in the Knock Off. There's NO reason to have the original. It flat out svcks!! A freaking Lo Scarabeo!! There's so much info could have been included and so much could have been done.
If it's a deck I really love. Most times I want the original just to have and keep and the knock off to use.
I, too, love the smaller cards. I have small hands and short fingers so I usually have a difficult time with the bigger cards. Yes the images are usually duller. The knock off usually does Mimic the original though. Card stock and all. Of course it's cheaper made. And yes I like the price.
Tarot Cards can be used in spells and curses and other Rituals. I'm not paying $25 + just to destroy some nice guilded cards in a curse unless I feel like I need the original. Spirit will let me know
The Vlad Dracula deck is perfect for dark work. Curses and Hexes. Yes they're different to me. But it doesn't come in a knock off and it probably never will because of how detailed the images are. The cards are really nice. Guilded. Love this deck. I don't like using it because I paid my money and it's so nice!! Just like the Occult Tarot and the Angel Tarot. The original decks are really nice. Even though you don't like the guide book for the Occult lol. Yes I have 3 decks each of the knock off
YES!! Knock off decks have the guide book. It's just online. The seller makes it sound like you can scan the code and the book for that deck will come straight up. No. It doesn't work that way. There's one or two of mine that did. But it brings up a website. Go to the website and search. You can also just do a Google search. Like I searched for The Occult Tarot Travis McHenry online guide book PDF. And it was the first result. Same for the Angel. You can also ask the seller to email you the guide book and they usually will. But there's a language barrier so you may get a different one lol
Last time I asked them to email me a guide book they sent the wrong one but it was one I was needing anyway lol
That's another thing. Some codes on boxes bring up guide books for other decks. You just have to mix match and search. But it's there.
NO. I don't believe I'm going to get false readings, or that I'm opening myself up to negative energy
As far as money going to the creator. That doesn't have anything to do with me. Nothing at all. Because as I said, if it's a deck I really want I will try to find it in the knock off and the original. I love having cards. Collecting cards. I love reading with the smaller size cards
This deck Heaven & Earth. I don't have any won't have the original because I'm not paying for it. I'm very disappointed in the guide book. It had SOOOOO much potential and due to laziness and cutting production costs, the guide book is complete crap. Lo Scarabeo has some of the best decks with NO guide book. I mean if you mess with cards even a little bit you know Lo Scarabeo is a joke when it comes to the guide book
Yes I have the guide book to this deck. I downloaded it 😀

The bought “the Field” tarot last week: fake. I already had the “real” one but I am not using that one as much as I would like. No problems with the fake one lol
And the Occult tarot and Angel tarot grew on me. When I ordered the real ones both decks were 11 euro on Amazon - now only the occult tarot: I just checked. I am using the fake ones in curses and I agree with you. Burning or burying a real card doesn’t make the the working better - or worse. Might as well grow a pile of fake decks with specific purposes.

Can you even imagine, taking the time, effort, and skill to put together 78 pieces of art into a tarot deck.....just to have some jackass photo copy it in 10 minutes and sell it for their own profit?....and to have people be ok with that and say "well you should charge less".....mind-blowing mentality honestly. The artists TIME is worth whatever they choose to sell it for. Also, how about people look into the cost of actually having a quality deck printed and then ask about high prices. 🙄

Also, there's a lot of "extra stuff" in many boxes to show how "thoughtful" they are. What is this, some school girl scrap book items? I'm all for beauty & aesthetics but not impracticality or even trying to be different & cool. Most of that stuff is piling up of extra junk in the customer's home. & A lot of the white books are pointless too.
& Often I just want the major arcana of a particular deck or just the minor arcana. But gotta buy the full deck which is again unused extra printed cards. Card makers should also have the option to buy either of the 2 or the whole deck.

No no no NO don't you call them Fake!! LOL How dare you make fun of me? LOL Fake cards? They are NOT fake, they are in your hand, and mine!! 😀 If Travis McHenry doesn't kill me LOL I'm thinking I need to do protection. He was doing a video on his Occult Tarot cards, which btw I LOVE!!! I LOVE the "real" cards, the red sides of the cards, the big black and red guidebook, I love it I love it I love it!! BUT I also LOVE my Knock Off Deck!! What I do NOT love!! Is a Liar! In fact, I absolutely HATE a liar!! Travis is a smart man! I know he knew better!! He was saying that people would email him, or contact him however they do I guess, and complain that the QR code on the "fake deck" AKA Knock off Deck doesn't work. He said that does not surprise him as the PDF book does not exist, it never has, it never will. LOL Oh YES it does!!! Now I know I am on Team Knock Off when I order these cards. I have went absolutely crazy and I have like over a hundred decks on the way plus what I already have LOL anyway, uh hum, People think they can scan the QR code and like Magic, up comes the book. Well No, It does NOT work that way!! First off, unless your phone or Tablet, has the memory of a big computer, it is NOT gonna download. It will say not enough room. So, if you look at the bottom of the box and the top of the address bar on your phone when you scan it, there is a web site. Go to that website on a computer, or something with enough memory. Which is tarotcards.top Type that in and it brings up 3 pages of PDF Guidebooks for Knock Off Cards. Now there are some I have had to Google for the guidebook and do a little more investigative work. If you want to be able to have the book on your phone, or with you during readings, Rituals etc. Of course you can always print it, or just print certain parts. And you can email the PDF file to yourself and open it through your email on your phone. At least that is what works for me. So I Called him (Travis McHenry ) out and said yes this book absolutely does exist in PDF version and if anybody needs help finding it just let me know. Now even tho I have the Knock off Occult Deck AKA Demons, and I have my friend a Knock off Deck ordered, and I ordered me and her knock off deck of his Angel cards, Those are the main 2, that I STILL want the Original ones so bad. I have been down bad sick and havent worked in 4 months. So they are gonna have to wait a probably another month or so. But I personally LOVE these Knock off cards. I do get a little "uhhh Miffed off I guess LOL Not Pi$$ed off or mad, just Miffed lol When somebody calls them fake. I'm like Hold up! The majority of my collection is and will remain these knock off cards. They are very real, and oh YES they do work just like the original ones do!! One other thing Travis McHenry said, well maybe if you have small tiny hands you might like these little cards lol Yep! That's me! I have little hands and short fingers, which the rest of me being short so this makes sense. I'm barely 5ft with shoes on lol I can definitely hold these little cards and shuffle better and just all the way around work better with the smaller ones. Even tho according to most people they are super super small, Well my super super small hands, still Don't go all the way around the smallest part of the deck LOL Anyway, Carry on. Just wanted to throw that out there. LOL and Glad to hear you're a part of Team Knock Off!!! Yay!!!

@@rdhr3610 I distrust people who are preaching about "ethical principles"... most of the time they hv no principles themself.... just saying.
