Wow finally a good orc build against happy. Destroyers are the key for ud to win. Countering that was necessary. Great commentary grub!
Wow, this is the first time I've ever seen anyone make beating Happy look easy. I'm excited to see if Happy can adapt.
I think fiends will be the counter to this. He can kill the bats and kite with them while making destroyers with armor to better deal any bats not killed.
@@JaredK511 You can't really kite them when they went straight to attack your base though, game 2 shows how quickly Lyn can go for an attack if the expansion is left alone
Yeah, I was surprised that Happy didn't try fiends after losing big time with ghouls + destroyers. Then the only viable option for orc is to base harrass with the bats
Shouldn´t there be (at least in theory) an opportunity for UD to pressure this Orc build, no matter whether Orc goes for the mentioned raider-rush, or this walker/bats combo? Like its FS straight to tech and triple t2 buildings, it feels like there should be a way to maybe grab some ghouls and skellis, skip the creeping and harras peons or time it to cancel the t2 buildings. Or is this not viable ind UD vs Orc?
@@nosebleed7 with perfect knowledge and absolute certainty that's how the orc is gonna play, sure. that's not the case in reality

It seems that Happy struggles with Fire Lord at the moment, both Moon and Lyn used him to beat Happy. It will be very interesting to see how he adapts. The Firelord buffs were spot on in retrospect.

Great commentary Grubby, nice breakdown about the strategic implications of bat riders and firelord as well enabling the expo advantage. I am curious to see how Happy responds. It'd be cool to see you implement this build as well as it appears to be such a powerful strategy in this matchup for reasons you mentioned. Great innovation by Lyn. I hope you do more commentary vids such as this I really enjoy watching the back2warcraft videos in these prize money events in general but you have a much deeper understanding of the game. Please do more of these types of vids it enables a different layer of depth with your commentary
If I could make a criticism, while I do love the Grubby tangents. I feel like it can gloss over some of major battles happening on screen. In the last match, both of the major battles in happy base didn’t receive any commentary. Just my thoughts. Still enjoy led the replay.
It's because they were basically attack moves. There was nothing really to comment other than "Happy lost all ghouls, two zigs, and lich without killing anything."
probably because Happy always does the same thing. Never really changes anything.
@@nicholasgraves3149Yes and no. It's rare to see somebody siege Happy's base like that from my experience. Lyn does a great job taking out ghouls on the initial attack, weakening Happy's econ, which later sets up the final blow. This is also suppose to be a showcase match, I think it's important to cover the major battles more than anything; that's the excitement of the game.

@@mathiashansen9108 Happy is unironically the most versatile UD player there is. Lich opening against human, Gargoyle strats in certain maps, Ghoul frenzy strats, late game transition to mass banshee, Dreadlord as the 3rd hero, all of those came from him
It is not really his fault that UD doesn't have a lot of potential for variety. Statue is needed as they are lacking other source of sustain, necromancer is useless, banshee's tier 3 is only a niche that works against certain strats (which mean they don't really have any viable strat involving mass casters), abominations are not designed to be massed like other T3 melee, and destroyer is their only source of dispell

This was really cool to see, Obviously you can say Ted Fiends would be the counter to this, or even Fiend build with the slower Tech but the beauty of this build is that you can just go raider walker and not even build air. Thing for undead though is you just have to start with a build guessing you not gonna get the scouting out then decide on Fiends or Ghouls you just have to open with what you feel comfortable with in the matchup. This adds a cool paper rock scissors element. Ghouls opener could maybe even work but you would have to burrow harass early maybe after Level 2 but also hope not to lose acolytes to farseer harass. Nice to see something new will be cool to see what UD comes up with or how they go about it. The orc strategy is pretty flexible.
Firelord is the kryptonite for Happy ... Moon showed the way 😎
This new orc strategy looks BRILLIANT... Fiends are a huge investment and delay for your progression and as orc you have the ability to control the pacing of the game... If he changes to fiends, you can change to riders, if he sticks to ghouls /statues / abominations you can counter him easily, if he techs up, you have time to even go taurens due to expo income advantage...
The transition from tier 2 to tier 3 for the undead is when it is most vulnerable, it reaches tier 3 and takes out a destro orb, it wins quickly, Lyn knew that perfectly well and that is why in previous games she took out a fortified tower, but she played very defensively, Now that Firelord is strong and Farsil in early gets in the way a lot, I achieve a perfect balance to neutralize Happy, Lyn really is a Warcraft genius!!!

I kind of feel good seeing Happy loosing . He was so dominant that was looking impossible for those top players to beat him , and now bunch of bat riders beat him . As orc player it feels nice .
Very exciting and so well played! Getting back into watching wc3 after not playing for maybe 20 years now and the meta seemed to have staled up from what I saw in recent weeks, with Happy absolutely destroying everyone. I wonder what variations this will lead to!

At the six minute mark of game 1, I was thinking there's no way this can work. Level 3 hero verse two level 1s and a raider. That's it.

Firelord has become the apocalipsis of the undead
Since Firelord only very recently (less than 2 weeks after the current patch went live?) became usable for anything other than a tower rush, it is understandable not to have thought of a build using the Firelord this way.
The article donation comment was (I think) a reference to people having playboy magazines in their bathroom and saying they read it for the articles. I’m not sure if he was implying you were spending extra time in the bathroom because of a Donald Duck fetish… but …

I really liked the grubby pro casts. I remember when youtube was filled with replay casting/commentary before livestreaming. Also, how come you always use words in such weird contexts lol (I just started noticing it) @1448 you use constellation, unless I don't know something that is used strictly in astronomy :D

I don´t know about english (or dutch for that matter) , but the german word "Konstellation" has meaning both in astronomy, but also is widely used talking about any situation, when describing like correlations and interrelations and such. like in politics or business or sports, for example "the constellation in group B however is quiet different from group A, because here all the teams still have a chance to make it to the playoffs" So for a german viewer this word did not feel out of place ;)
@@nosebleed7 Oh I see, that makes a lot more sense. I'm Murican, so I can only speak one language and barely my mother tongue. Instead of constellation in your example, I think most Americans would agree, would say configuration/arrangements etc. Ty for the explanation.

Undead is the second worst race, Happy makes it look good as he is currently the best player, but he does lose like everyone else

The best counter to UD is to make anti-air e.g. bats or flying machines. Destroyers are so powerful, they have to be countered before they are even made
I beat every single Undead, except Happy....ahahahhahaha very brave

This was a good build
Firelord is pretty damn strong vs ud, as long as ud doesn't have destro. Mass bats/wyv tower has always been strong vs ud, and eco game vs ud. Those ziggarats just dropped from focus from bats and summon army with mainly range army with like 2 raiders. Don't even need many raiders, the bats are the main damage, along with wyvern. You can go into mass wyv even later, sprinkle some HH or kodo. Orc is supposed to > UD(same as ud is supposed to > NE) and looks like it is still true. UD is hurt the most by neutral heroes imo since ud doesn't have direct fast healing apart from heal pots.
Maybe happy should try using FL himself. If that doesn't work, can always change to orc or another race. If you can't beat them.. join them lol.
But yeh. I'm sure happy will learn to adapt and how to counter this build in a week or so after he plays around with training partners and figures out the pros/cons and timings. It almost seems like Lyn doesn't even need the expo, that's how strong the build is vs happys current mass ghoul to destro 3 hero build. He can't keep using that build, lyn has him hard countered from even before he uses it and no ghoul micro can counter ensnare and bats exploding and FL FS chain lightning death ball lol.
fiends are only counter, stubborn UD in 2nd game use to ghouls orb destroy easy win, finally need to adapt like other races

I mean it's not the bats only thing, it's the execution too. I play WCIII for as long as you do, Grubby, (not _that_ good though ;-)), and I have always played bats against Dessies. Because bats are anti air. They do go boom. It's simple, almost Trump-esque. Still Happy would wipe the floor with me if I played against him, because I would never think about (and force it) to go with the first raider and always ensnare and kill the first statue Happy makes.
This is what happens in both games and seems to be key. Delaying the Dessies so that when Happy finally gets to 2-3 Dessies, you have enough Bats to blow m up.
If this orc guy would have failed only once to kill the first statue/Dessie, I don't know if he would have won. I mean did you see that? In the 2nd game he went deep into Happy's base just to kill that first statue.
What happens when undead has dispel locked behind t3 and an air unit. This is nothing new.
Happy has not solved this patch yet lol

i feel like simply going fiends + statues + dk, lich, crypt lord should beat this.
went looking for this comment. the ghoul build has alot of greed in it that concedes to this. fiends are still super viable and if this is how orcs approach him going forward it’s a simple change for happy.
Fiends should be good, but maybe if Lyn sees fiends, he does something different

@@bryansweeney3077 true, but once you commit to far seer, firelord you are stuck with 2 super weak heroes late game. they are just amazing at creating advantages early because of summons. also i feel like building a lot of batriders before seeing a single destroyer or more than 2 statues is super risky.

It's sad to read comments like "finally an orc build against Happy" like... imagine being that good playing WC3 so others are trying to make a build against you, but not against the race you play.
And there are still bunch of people who says UD is OP just by seeing Happy winning the tournaments. It's not about how UD is OP, but how Happy is playing.
Wish Happy to adapt to this Firelord-bats build and I hope he will

as for firelord i dunno, im not a pro player and didn't pvp for like 10 years but playing against him doesn't sound fun at all rn, both moon and lyn builds using him look kinda cheesy and firelord looks overtuned to me.
Yea, I guess by now he knows that his usual tier 3 frenzy ghoul build is not working anymore, he just need to figure out a fiend build then he should be good. This is like a kryptonite against Happy (at this time) but not against other UD players.
@@sanderkiki yeah. Just remembered raraland-2 Happy vs Moon match. The crowd was cheering for every ghoul kill by Moon like if it was a hero kill. It looked like they weren't cheering for Moon to win, but were cheering for Happy to lose. Tbh I'm not a Happy fan, but more Grubby fan, but I always love to watch Happy playing and crushing tournaments and setting skills bar so high. It's always nice to watch skilled players competing! Nowadays cheering has a hate trend. Like Green Goblin said: "The one thing they love more than a hero is to see a hero fail, fall, die trying. In spite of everything you've done for them, eventually, they will hate you."

Halfway through game two. Looks like happy is gonna lose. He is getting out crept by solo FS and FL basically lol. Level 3/2 vs level 2 dk. Even though Lyn went fast tech. Happy definitely needs to go fiend web or fast expo into fiend web. Ghouls get destroyed so fast vs fire lord and chain lightning wolves and bats means you can't even use destro. Happy is relying on heroes only but you can't do that when you're out crept by solo heroes lol

Probably because it takes quite a bit of time to get the critical amount, Firelord can easily handle a few fiends with incinerate
That's just the way Happy plays. He almost always go for frenzy ghouls attack at tier 3. Transitioning to fiends will mean his army won't be ready at the usual timing, not as mobile, and won't do as much damage to buildings (as Lyn already had an expansion).

Game 2 shows how quickly Lyn can launch an attack straight to Happy's base if the expansion is left alone
Fiends get pounded by riders and delay tech to destros, they come with tradeoffs
Noob strat to making ghouls against orc. Unless you need corpses for skeletons. It's always have to be fiends.
Happy such a noob against orc. It's just one strat to beat any orc even without great micro. Cryptlord, dk and this tavern hero with splash attack making debuff. Fiends, banshee, destro. There's no counter.
