Had a 74. Diesel with shuttle shift. Fantastic old machine. Ran it for 20 years professionally. Never paint it. Been well greased. Very good.

Very informative video, thank you. I have a 1968 Case 580CK serial #8657611 (earlier model with mechanical shuttle whereas later models have the power shuttle). At 5:28 in your video you speak about full service, transmission, "Differential" (pointing to Hex Nut dipstick). What fluid goes in this? Lube Oil 85W140 or TDH(HiTrans)? My tractor must have had its floor replaced, with a large sheet of steel, which covered that hex nut... I was so frustrated looking for this, finally unbolted the seat, then the floor, and there it was... Hex nut dipstick, about 12" long. The fill point is deep, but the fluid was right to the top, probably 8 inches higher than it should be, which may explain why the tractor won't move.... I'd send a picture but there doesn't appear to be an option for that, but basically, there is that Hex nut Long dipstick, which you pointed to under the seat area, and forward of that maybe 18-24" and to the right, there is also a Short 6" hex dipstick a few inches in front of the 4 speed shift and up near the bottom of the Hi/Low gear shift. I drove an hour to the nearest Case dealership today, showed the guy the picture, he says Lube Oil in both, but he also said its the same chamber... for both dipsticks, which doesn't make sense to me. Any help would be appreciated, thank you.... Mike Ellis in Canada.... mzellis@gmail.com

p.s. the next tractor I buy, I hope its from someone as thorough as you with maintenance and repairs... the guy I bought this off had it for 2 years, changed the secondary fuel filter, didn't even bother with the primary... that's kind of what I'm up against.... strong and powerful machine when she moves though... lifts armor stone rocks up without any strain... really want to give this gal the maintenance she deserves. thanks

What fluid goes in that the hex nut with the dipstick on it . There's a notch on the bottom on the dipstick and one above it that's the full line. You put 80 90 gear oil in it it's for your differential and transmission gears.

Thanks for posting this. I am looking at buying one just like it from the son of the original owner. The machine was used in an excavation business, but was very meticulously maintained, and only operated by the owner.
Just need to convince the little woman that I really do need it. 😉

Ended up buying a Ford 555 that has shuttle problems that the seller was very honest about. The price was right, and hopefully I can get back in shape soon.

Just purchased a unit in California. We are hauling it back to Reno, Nevada on Friday. Hopefully we will get the compressed earth block home built in the next year and a half. Thanks so much for posting - I see the things that I will have to pay attention to and repair! You are awesome for posting this video! Blessings!

Thanks for sharing the video. Question for you about the radiator: did you replace the radiator entirely with a brand new one ? Just as precautionary measure ? Thanks!

@@1cummins4life65 OK, thanks for getting back to me. I am in the process of purchasing one of these machines. Doesn't appear that there is anything wrong with coolant system... but I would like to prevent a problem before it becomes a problem. So I gather you would recommend replacing it ?? What other parts of the coolant system should I replace in addition to the radiator ? Thanks!

I just got a 580b myself. where did you find the hydraulic pump seals my dealer can get them they said it has a TRW pump and nice you found. I only reason I bought mine was ive been the person operating it for the last 20 years and the motor was overhauled by case
