  • IMPORTANT NOTE - The base game's solo bots are not balanced for the expansion, so ignore my crazy high score in this video ;)

    Good play through. One can really get into the reasoning of why one gets a prestige guest for what ever reason. It certainly brings the theme out that is for sure. In regard to Pax Pamir, I would have to say that is one challenging solo automa. Both very good games in their own right I think. I am glad to have both.

    It's a good sign someone is enjoying a game when they start singing😮. This game has been on my want list for awhile. If only money were no object.

    Great game, I was lucky enough to get the KS from someone at a decent price. Obsession + Wessex + Promo. Surprising hard to find in Europe. This has become a go to game when I want to chill out. Beware rich american heiresses. I enjoy the decision making and am, of course a huge Downton Abbey fan. I use a couple of house rules to make the solo game a little more competitive. I only look at the first row of the courtship and score everything the automa hand gets from the market. I believe the designer is going to review and tweak some of the solo rule. I'm looking forward to the Upstairs Downstairs expansion. Nice run through. Cheers Mike.

    • @OneStopCoopShop
      @OneStopCoopShop  Před 3 lety

      Definitely a fun one, and yeah I saw the designer talking about rebalance, or at least a solo variant to use courtship with upstairs downstairs.

  • @winterzee
    @winterzee Před 3 lety +3

    At 11:00, my reading of the rules indicates the AI only gets a VP card at courtship if there is a tie or it wins. I don't think it gets one no matter what. (Rules page 14)

    • @OneStopCoopShop
      @OneStopCoopShop  Před 3 lety +1

      You're right! I got confused by the whole "SP" terminology and whether that referred to the player or the AI. Thanks for the correction... seems like the more logical rule anyway, in retrospect :)

    Reminds me quite a bit of Legacy: Testament of Duke de Crecy.
    The first turn Servant's Quarters was super good.
    Presumably the expansion has updated solo bots?

    • @OneStopCoopShop
      @OneStopCoopShop  Před 3 lety

      So there are two things for the solo with the expansion (and this is what I messed up, hence my giant score).
      1 - The expansion comes with an alternate solo mode, balanced for use with the expansion, that cuts the whole courtship aspect and instead focuses on building the best estate, with a mix of tile types.
      2 - The designer is going to post a rebalanced set of solo cards online that will make the point values match up the increased power of the bonus servants from the expansion, if you still want to use courtship.

    • @davidko9289
      @davidko9289 Před 3 lety +1

      @@OneStopCoopShop Makes sense. It's nice that the designer is spending the time to make two different, adjusted versions of solo with the expansion.

    Great playthrough Mike! I've been on the look out for this game for months now, but ironically seems impossible to get from any retailers here in the UK at the moment.
    Not that it matters in the slightest, but just to say that Derby is actually pronounced "Darby". No idea why, seems a totally illogical spelling, but it just is!

    • @OneStopCoopShop
      @OneStopCoopShop  Před 3 lety +1

      Darn you England! First you add an “i” to aluminum, then you pronounce “er” as “ar”!! ;)

      @@OneStopCoopShop i just looked it up, because it's Friday afternoon at work here and I'm a bit bored(!), and turns out you were right the first time! It seems Sir Humphrey Davy, who discovered it, originally called it 'aluminum' (without the 'i'), but then some other British scientists felt the name didn't sound Latin enough so added the 'i' to give it an 'ium' ending. Whereas in America they stuck with Davy's original spelling. Always good to learn something new every day, and I have today!
