Helluva Boss is a great series. The way I describe it to new people, it's a series about demon assassins that's full of adult themes - Fear of rejection, not measuring up to your wife's parents, trying to maintain a relationship with your adopted child, isolation and depression.

Without spoiling the whole plot too much and more the idea behind this video: The show Helluva Boss is about demons living in Hell. Stolas (the starring owl character in the video) is one of them and he's royalty, the prince of astronomy (hence the whole celestial theme). He and Blitzo (the other demon he's trying to reach) have a transactional deal going. Sexual pleasure once a month during the full moon in exchange for a magical artifact that can grant you access to the living world aka earth. Blitzo is an imp, the lowest species in hell. He runs a business with services that require the use of said artifact which is a book, the Grimoire. That's his meal ticket. However, Stolas has started to gain feelings for Blitzo , who is a very closed off person and won't let anyone love him but does have feelings for Stolas that go beyond their transactional deal. It doesn't help that they differ in class so much. Stolas has his own issues as a high ranked prince and feels he has used Blitzo selfishly as a means to an end. The main plot is basically a love story between two very conflicted, complex characters. There's a lot more to it but for that you'll have to check out this show.

As an addition to this, the reason the crystal spurred on this song is because Stolas is taking measures to prepare to terminate the transactional side of their relationship. That crystal will help Blitzo access the living world without the Grimoire, effectively giving Blitzo the power to end their relationship completely without harming anything else in his life. Blitzo doesn't know about this yet, and this song is likely Stolas lamenting how he feels this act will inevitably result in their relationship ending, but knowing that the only way they could have any real chance at a loving relationship is to give Blitzo the choice to continue it on non-transactional/obligatory terms.("But Dearest, I know better now; I must give you this choice."/"So I'll grant you this mercy, this bind on our souls needs to end.")
This next bit is just a personal theory, but: It's also possible that Stolas worries that the power of deals/contracts in Hell, even non-written ones, are very binding; this is alluded to in both Helluva Boss and Hazbin Hotel. So it's possible that Stolas is worried this deal is metaphysically impacting both him and Blitzo and drawing them towards one another rather than genuine mutual attraction/desire.
The bird is Stolas, he is a prince of hell, so he has very high standing in Hells society. The person he’s singing about is Blitzo, an imp that he’s in love with. (Imps are the second lowest social class in hell, just barely above Hellhounds) Their relationship has been in the works since the beginning of the series, and yeah it’s complicated. They have a lot they need to work out. I’m glad you enjoyed this, I can promise you the music in this show slaps. I haven’t heard a single song from Helluva Boss that I genuinely disliked.
As for what to expect with Helluva Boss. It is dark, and can be pretty violent at times, but it also has its heart touching moments. The show is not all swears and gore, and that’s what I love about it. This show will make you say what the hell, and then in the very same episode make you cry. It’s truly a masterpiece and a rollercoaster of emotions.

This song is sung by Broadway veteran Bryce Pinkham! He and showrunner Vivienne Medrano met because she was a fan of the musical "A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder," and he was in the original cast!
"Gentleman's Guide" is absolutely astounding as well, if you ever get a chance to listen to it. In London, 1907, a lower class peasant named Monty discovers his mother was a noble heiress and she dies. Her family disowned her because she married a colored man. So he starts offing his relatives one by one to avenge her, and reclaim his earldom. It's a dark comedy, and 100% worth a listen. 🙌🏾💕
1,000,000% I have to say this series is absolutely worth reacting to. and stolas (the owl you just watched) is an amazing singer with other songs too in the show. the story is hilarious and heart breaking fun and wild it's just amazing. I'd tell you more about this song and how much more deeper it is but when you watch the series you'll see

Bryce Pinkham, the voice actor of Stolas, is a Broadway performer. A good portion of the characters are.
If you choose to watch Helluva Boss, it IS an adult cartoon of demons in Hell, so just keep that in mind-

To explain why he's crying without spoilers would be hard. Just know that these two in the video need to just sit down and TALK.
Addict is a good one for a newbie to a Hella-verse, Oh Millie is another good one for just starting out since the song in that one was aired with the pilot and then given a full animated music video later. Both that I recommend are stand alone from their respective shows within the Hella-verse so you should be good to watch them without any spoilers.

its late and im sure some have said, but the thing that makes this song so heartfelt is the imp he loves has a contract with him, once a month on the full moon they frick, and imp gets to use his book to do his work. In this, the crystal he plans to give him would allow him to do it without his book, so the song is basically "I'm stopping our contract because I dont want this to be all we are, but you wont need me anymore will you go or do you have love for me back and will stay"
You've got to watch Helluva Boss to get the context without MAD spoilers. It's an AMAZING series! 👏🏾

I love discovering reactors who get teary with this song, it feels validating because I get misty-eyed myself. I went on to watch the series after listening to this as well, the show has some beautiful moments and pretty killer animation for a free series on CZcams.
For the show: a very short simple summary, the bird demon in the video aka stolas is apart of royalty and he has a very powerful book, that allows demons from hell to go earth. Blitz runs a business for demons to kill humans from earth that wronged them help them get revenge. He needs the book to go to earth for his killing business so he made a deal with Stolas to have the book an in change give him pleasure once a month.
The song: Stolas loves blitzo with all his heart, but he knows he have to give blitzo a choice to be free. The crystal he talks about allows blitzo to use it without having to meet up with stolas every month. Stolas is afraid he is going to abandon him and not need him anymore. Blitzo has a very hard to time opening up to people since his trauma still effects him til this day. Blitzo is afraid to love again, because when he did that led to an awful and tragic event (wont spoil) Stolas hopes blitzo will feel the same way he does for him, he never really shows his love for stolas.

Helluva Boss is a violent comedy about demons in hell who are assassins. Specifically, they are imps.
It's one of those shows that's 70% adult comedy and then hits you with something emotionally heavy.
This song is actually one of the most emotional depictions of the relationship between Stolis (the owl) and Blitz (the object of his affections) since both of them are so bad at communicating. The song hits a lot harder than how they're relationship has been shown in the show so far.
The character singing is Stolas, he is an Owl, specifically an Owl Demon, if you hadn't guess by the title this series takes place in Hell. I'm not gonna say anything else about the actual show, cause just watch it. Nobody's going to explain it better than just watching and experiencing the story play out. If you decide to give it a go, watch the Pilot first, it's not strictly necessary, but it provides some context for the series proper. Also it's hilarious.
So Stolas is voiced by Bryce Pinkham, he's the voice actor in the entire series (except the Pilot, several characters got different voice actors, including Stolas) and Bryce also does all the singing for Stolas, this is by no means a one off thing, Stolas has several songs.
Bryce Pinkham is a BROADWAY performer, he got several major nominations for his performance and..... Yeah you can tell I'm sure. There are actually several broadway performers in this show. The broadway actors for Beetlejuice and Aladdin's Genie are both in this show, and not as one off cameos as PERSISTENT characters, sometimes a few different characters.
That alone should tell you how absurdly popular this show is. Vivziepop, she created the show, has gotten some BIG names to drop in. She even got KESHA to voice a character. Yes, THAT Kesha. She'd have even sung too, if it weren't for how stupid music is on the internet that her voice is all but property of her label. Still voice acted in it, and wrote a song that a voice double (a really good one) sings.

Stolas' (the owl guy singing) biggest issue is that he loves someone that hates himself and self destructs all of there personal relations

the guy who voice acts this character (Stolas) is Bryce Pinkham. He is very talented at acting and singing. I would recommend watching the series to get more context of the song. the next episode will be out pretty soon and we'll hopefully get an answer about the relationship.

The guy singing, Stolas, started a physical relationship with the person shown in the moon, Blitzo, but got feelings. Blitzo started the relationship for a thing Stolas has but got feelings but he thinks Stolas wants him only for the physical. Stolas realized that the relationship was not good and is trying to free Blitzo from the transactional relationship for a better one. Another big thing is Stolas is a member of high society and Blitzo is a second lowest class citizen. Blitzo has major trust issues due to every close relationship he has had blew up, in one case literly.
The character in red is an imp, a much lower demon that everyone in Hell hate dearly

It's one thing to see long term fans react to this song and end up in an emotional awe, but to have someone who hasn't seen the show be equally moved proves the genius and effort that has been put into this music video.
We could all tell you what is going on but to truly understand the love and passion of this song you really need to watch all of the show, or it really amazing and you will not regret it, you will laugh, cry, get angry, all bunch of emotions heck that could be more video request to watch each episode from the beginning i would re-watch it with you
Ohhhhhh, that is a wonderful reaction... yeah that song hits hard even without context.... so slight bit of not really a spoiler context, just general set up/world details about the series...... which yes you should totally react to, it's not that long, and is both hilarious, in a very dark comedy way, but also has a lot of heart and emotion to it under the crassness, as you see with this song.
The one singing this is Stolas, he's one of the Goetia, pretty much the aristocracy of Hell. The one he's singing about is the shows main character Blitzo (the o is silent!) who is an imp, the lowest caste in Hell, hence the whole "I don't care if your of lower birth" bit. Their whole relationship has been a running thing throughout the series and I don't really want to say too much as that journey is kind of important for the characters. Suffice to say, once you fully understand the context this song hits so much harder.....

This song is about Stolas and Blitz (his lover) and they're extremely strained relationship due to a ton of context but ultimately this song is likely about the upcoming episode where either happiness or tragedy will occur.
The show has a massive variety of songs with extremely musical tone talent and voice work, Bryce (Stolas) along with two other important characters are Broadway singers and even the others are fantastic so the talent is there.
It's a really great show that I recommend with its fun and tragedy, of people who have been born in hell and have to deal with all that comes with.
I could describe it more but I've seen other people already break it down very well elsewhere in the comments so all I can say is give it a look.

Oh man, without knowing the context you missed out on so much of the pain this song holds, id honestly suggest going back to this after you see the show
It’s hard to give context of the song without giving spoilers. The short of it is Stolas, the owl, is in love with an imp, Blitz. While Stolas is a prince, Blitz is an imp which are the lowest caste in Hell.
It’s a really good series and Pinkman does sing other songs and there are other broadway singers involved as well.

so for context the guy he likes and him made a deal where the guy he likes would get his book to access the human world and in return he would have relations with him on every full moon now he has feelings for him but the guy he likes thinks all he wants him for is sex so the crystal at the beginning is so he can go to the human world without the book essentially calling off the deal to show him he wants more from him
To make the long story short that demon in red is blitz and he runs a business that requires him to access earth which he is a low class Hellborn imp so he is not allowed to do so but he became Friends with benefits with Stolas the owl who is a prince of hell the two of them have a on and off monogamous relationship where if anybody found out about it all of hell would judge them for it the only reason as modus the embodiment of lust gave Stolas the crystal is because he understands what it’s like to love someone of lower class because he is with a imp as well blitz does care for Stolas but the reason he’s afraid to let him in is because the last time he did he lost everything his best friend his family he lost everything because he opened up his feelings and he doesn’t wanna lose Stolas

Every episode has a song in it, some smaller songs some much bigger pieces, I'd suggest just watching the episodes, S2E7 was the most recent and the songs hit much harder with the proper context. This one has me tearing up every time i hear it but if you don't know about Stolas and Blitz's relationship it just seems like a sad song
