Title: Get more green bubbles!
Last Video: Save TONS of equipment and manpower!
Game: Hearts of Iron 4
Hearts of Iron 4 is a 4X grand strategy video game developed by Paradox Interactive.
#hoi4 #heartsofIron4 #paradox - Hry
huh, i always thought that reinforcement rate just increases how fast a company regenerates after being damaged. No wonder i always get bodied hard.
That's Recovery Rate czcams.com/video/B-VjqPHjTlQ/video.html
Reinforcement, initiative, and recovery rate are often mixed up.
I thought it was resupply for the yellow line
@@antonioklaic4839 nah man. Resupply flows from the capital at fixed speed (before No Step Back). With different speed for manpower and equipment (I think).
I dont know how it works in NSB now, with trains, rivers and supply hubs.
This tutorials are literally perfect. Paradox games can be so overwhelming without someone breaking down the components into bite sized explanations like this. Other tutorials cover way too much stuff and are hours long. I have hundreds of hours on hoi4 and am just now learning things from these videos.
yeah same lol. I just saw green and was like "that means good"
@@leoseguin5761 literally
Green = good
Yellow = not so much
Red = bad
Agreed, criminally undersubbed
And not 1.5 hours long like most other Hoi4 vids. :D
Please do more, these are so great dude.
Lil note: the green bubbles are very unreliable. They don't account for cas damage, and assume that all units in the battle will eventually reinforce into the frontline.
You guys remember when the NKVD focus gave a 30% reinforcement rate instead of the measly 5%? Combined with 30% from MA, 5% radio and 2% from field marshals + base 2% you'd have 69% reinforcement rate, Nice!
30% reinforce rate? why bother with radio or anything else back then?
@@heiscalledinvinciblenotinv68 Partly for the memes. But this was also a way to essentially Orc your way to victory. At above 50-60% reinforcement rate some ridiculous things start happening. Like 7-8 20 width infantry divisions beating a dozen 40 width tank divisions because they can exhaust their Org faster than those divisions can go into battle. Combined with signals it was near unstoppable. You could literally march from Moscow to Berlin with every battle showing a red bubble but still gain ground.
@@robertalaverdov8147 and it was glorious
A base speed above 4 km/h also increases reinforce rate, so motorised and armoured divisions will enter battles quicker on average.
It's also worth noting that, in pre-1.11 (that is, pre- No Step Back), divisions reinforce in the order they appear in the queue, unless _all_ the divisions before them are deemed too wide. In 1.11, this is (or, as I'm writing this, is due to be) changed to selecting among all eligible divisions randomly.
However, the importance of radio to reinforcement rate can not be understated. The only justifications for missing it are the war being too early or too easy, or having the pre-1.5 NKVD spirit.
How will NSB DLC change division reinforcement?
As I believe I said, the division chosen to have its reinforcement rolled for will be randomly selected each hour, as opposed to being the topmost elegible. At least, that's how I think it's going to work based on what PDX said.
@@randomguy-tg7ok damn that sucks. So if I have a mechanized 40 width (I know width has changed recently but for sake of argument let’s say 40) and a terrible 10 width infantry in reserve, it will randomly roll between the two? Or will the mechanized get an advantage due to speed? It’s all a bit complicated
AFAIK it advantages the faster unit, otherwise I don't actually know.
Kids today have it easy with this guy. In the olden days, we had to learn it all from countless trials and errors...
You sound old
Thanks sir now I don't have to waste 2 hours and be frustrated by not getting green bubbles and just research radio and build rad towers

this will be obsolete with new dlc u can favorite it
This guy deserves so much more of everything
I have 1200 hours in hoi4 and i still watch this
watching hoi4 guides, last time played 2019 refuses to elaborate
Not only is a Hoi4 'How to' but also a youtube one.
THIS is how you make a Great YT video! Well done sir!
This mechanic is one of the least intuitive in the game. All they have to do is rename is "Reinforcement Chance" and it would clear everything up. Thanks for the explanation - I'm betting this will help a lot of people.
It is a rate though, because it's checked every hour. But you make a good point.
Maybe call it reinforcement chance rate

You're not the hero we wanted, but the hero we need. Thank you so much for these short and clear explanations! Subbed
Thanks you for the short videos. These are really useful for a new player like me.
Missed the most important reinforce point - when you are attacking you can just stop and restart your attack and now all your units are in the line instantly, making radio and signals not particularly important on offense. Staff office plan is often a much better way to get planning fast on your offensive divs than investing in signals support.
wouldnt that mean having to manually instruct every attack? thats why in the video he said "if you are battle planning a lot then signal companies are essential".
@@yeet9410 As far as I'm concerned, if you're battle planning, it usually means you're already confident of your victory, either strategic or tactical
Bro, that was gold! Please do more!
planning on it!
@@Pydgin thats what i wanted to hear, cheers m8!
More please, get ready for exponential growth.
I played this for 5 years now and this is the first time something made sense about the bubbles in this game. Much apreciated
Yeah, there is definitely more to that calculation but reinforce rate is really important to winning battles.
Your videos are incredibly informative, concise and clear - I wish I had known about your channel when I was first learning the game.
Glad to help! I wish I had something like this channel too. That's why I made it.
And here I thought reinforce rate from field marshals was a bonus to how fast supplies and troops are delivered to a division.
Hey man, keep doing what you're doing, because you're doing great! Also as a suggestion, i'd like a guide where you explain how to micro (how to attack and defend with tanks, how to make decisions, how to see oportunities and take advantage of them while microing etc.)
he doesnt know how to do that, he barely knows how to make divisons
E is right I don’t know enough about it to make a video on it. I usually just count how long it takes for my tanks and their tanks to deorg and try to estimate if I have enough “mississippi”’s or if I’ll need to retreat. There are people out there who play two or three games of HOI4 MP every… single… day.. They’d be the ones to ask.
Hey Pydgin, I love these videos. They are very helpful. Please keep 'em coming. One suggestion I have for you which can make these better is after you explain the concept, show us an example of how to use it in a scenario.
Thanks! I like to show examples while talking about it. I’ll try to point them out bit more, maybe emphasize that it’s an example. Just so you know you don’t need to post the same comment on every video though. I see them all.
i need them green bubbles
They're my green bubbles! and I want them now!
imma recommend to you to my newcomer friends! good video!
These simple videos are really helpful
I've played this game for over 1,000 hours and I didn't really know what reinforcement rate did until now in your video. Thank you!
Glad I could help!
For your offensive division you can also reinforce manually so u dont need it,
And For the the defensive units you can split your 20 width divsion in 10 width divisions so your have 2 (2+5+2)% chances for reinforcing
great videos my dude keep them coming
Straight to the point! GJ.
Already 2k man keep it up!
over a 1000 hours and i had no idea haha thank you
Hello, i'd like to see a video of yours explaining how to use planning and how to get bonuses for it in your generals and field marshalls, good video
Noted!
@@Pydgin thank you so much!
I DIDN’T KNOW ABOUT RADIO EXISTENCE MAN- MAYBE THAT’S WHERE I GOT WRONG DUDE- thank you!!!

Thanks for the Vid mate
Can you make a at least 10 minute long per vid playlist that shows how to play best as a major and minor
Thank you!
Very good videos. More of this.
Nice video 👍
People of Laconia:
Useful!
These videos are just great! Can you make one about division templates? I cannot figure out what it means to place which units where.
After No Step Back.
@@Pydgin Much appreciated. Looking forward to it.
The placement of a brigade within a division template has no gameplay impact.
I had to learn the hard way when playing the Seelow Heights mod and having 24 divisions retreat simultaneously. I thought the game was bugged or something.
Thanks after 800 hours I know what initiative is
Do one (or many) for the navy!
i never used this. u can get planning with commander abilitu. and u can reset reserve issue b pressing H button and reattacking waiting 3 daus to fill up planning is no issue either
I got this game 2 years ago and I have 1100 hours into and yet, I didn’t know this
Great video! tks
im the kind of person who doesnt bother learning the specifics and just goes for it. it makes the game more fun for me because if i figure out all the little details, it wont be challenging for me anymore
fun until you get stalemate
Can you explain how the expierance works for commanders/generals and units? I still scratch my head over it to this day.
hover over it noobs get -50 dmg and veteran get 25% t5 elite get 100% dmg bonus
experience is generated from successful encoutering the enemy meaning each time your troops fight the enemy and its green bubble your general get a slight EXP gain.
as for traits? general will gain experience in certain trait based on what land he attacks so you want to attack with division of +80% of mechanized to grind panzer leader per example
I didn't even know it existed
tnx, pls do more
This video is gonna expire the minute the next update comes online. RIP
Tnx for the vid.
Thank you!!!!

Did they remove where you can have an infantry and artillery in the same battalion row?
Holyshit I stumbled into the best build by just pushing buttons!

May I suggest showing some live action gameplay for better understanding?
Can u explain what is reliability? I have like 400 hours and I still don't get it
it reduce the equipement loss due to attrition or more exactly for each point lower than 100% it increase the equipment loss for attrition
i believe reliability is the daily chance that equipment will be lost as the unit experiences attrition
Oh ok thanks 🙏
@@megamind4220 Reliability is a complicated, confusing mess.
Land unit reliability does not affect the Attrition X% that you see when hovering over the attrition tooltip of a specific unit. What it does, is determine how much equipment a unit loses at a given Attrition level. For army units and equipment, you want expensive equipment (Tanks, Mechanised, Motorised, Artillery) to have at least 80% reliability on the equipment designs and attach a maintenance company to those divisions to kick them over the 100% threshold; the basic Maintenance company effect on an 80% reliability equipment will be 80%\*1.05=84%, and Maintenance company tech upgrade adds +0.05 to the multiplier. Keep in mind that the Division Designer stats don't accurately adjust reliability effects on equipment in any tooltip, and you need to do all the math outside the game if you're fully min-maxing, but all the stats do actually work right in battle and attrition calculations. If you want to remove Maintenance Companies to make room for some other support company, you should aim for getting exactly 100% reliability on as much land equipment as you can: greater than 100% doesn't provide any additional benefits, while less than 100% causes additional equipment loss any time you lose equipment. If you manage that, then you are guaranteed to have the minimum amount of equipment loss when suffering attrition, though you still need to keep an eye on supply, terrain and weather conditions stacking up attrition modifiers on your units. There is still a minimum amount of attrition even at max reliability, and high attrition percentages are still pretty lethal to equipment stocks even with maxed out reliability.
Reliability on Air equipment affects "accident chance". The plane loss to accidents is negligible compared to production for all major powers, with the exception of carrier planes that suffer double the accident rate just for operating off a carrier. As long as you're managing your factory assignment reasonably well, it's pretty safe to just tank reliability on your plane designs in favor of more stats.
Reliability on Ships determines the chance of suffering critical hits in battle. Submarines get killed if their stealth fails detected regardless of reliability. As far as other navy units are concerned: the best surface navy is doomstacks of land-based naval bombers. Navy reliability is therefore even more meaningless than Air reliability.
@@martenkahr3365 What playing Hoi4 24/7 does to a man
i played sinkiang and try to help soviet defend them self but, my troops can't get their reinforcement. it says "reinforcement is blocked: no supply from capital". I have a supply hub and also the railway. Where is the problem?
After 600 hours of hoi4: what does it mean?
I Love Green Bubbles 😃❣️
the only thing this is lacking is the "reinforce meme".
Not sure if this is still around tho, havent tested it yet
"reinforce meme" is still around. Likely will be part of HOI4 forever. For anyone else wondering "reinforce meme" is when you're troops don't enter a battle quick enough from the reinforce tab and are forced to retreat. I mention it in the video I just didn't call it reinforce meme.
hhmm cool but won't the upcoming update change all that drastically?
Manpower
**ENTER**
24:1 division battle
*red 8 bubble*
Can you do these for stellaris and/or eu4?
I never use radio companies. What use does reinforcement rate have over having a separate support company?
Not much unless you're attacking from multiple directions, with armour and you outnumber your opponent.
So pretty good for most of the majors, especially Germany
i like bubbles
Has the way reinforce rate works changed with NSB? I think I remember seeing something about it in the dev diaries, but I'm not sure
Signal companies now also affect targeting, but as far as I know reinforce rate is the same.
i play since 2016 but i am really paying atention to the combat stats now lol
some reallu important noob things to explain would be putting AA on support or adding a division as it removes CAS debuff.
trading to meet usage as being at a defecit removes efficiencu buildup.
btw u wanna plau MP sometime?
Okay now do everything
no problem
Yeah I have 1200 hours in the game, yeah I didn't know any of this
Don't certain army chiefs in the Government section increase reinforce rate too?
You forgot to mention advisers :-)
Recon has anything to do with this?
if you wanna do guides at least go into debt initiative gives 1/4 of the initiative as reinforcement rate. they are crazy expensive and having 11% reinforcement speed is enough you dont need signals pretty much ever(5 radio 2 base 2 field Marshall 2 doctrine)
I dont even have the game yet i am still watching tutorials
You'll be the best 0 hour HOI4 player ever!
It has never been better - perfect time to get it
Please, do a combat width video
I will after No Step Back, in the mean time build 10/20/40width divisions. All tiles (at the moment) are 80 width, if you are attacking from multiple tiles the combat width increases by 40 for each extra tile that is attacking. 30 width can also be an option for your offensive units if you always remember to attack from at least two tiles, if you do so you'll get 4 into the battle.
Just remember this ALL changes in less than a month.
I like to play "clean" runs with absolutely minimum loses and annexing as much as possible. I never ever focus on initiative and reinforce rate. It's good for inferior doctrines like Mass Assault.
I need to make my divs smaller since they can’t reinforce at all
At the moment smaller divisions will do less damage, but this is will be changing somewhat with No Step Back.
Wait im a bit new to hoi 4 and i wanna know which is better. The radio support or recon support?
It really depends, both are support companies you may wish to add to your offensive units. Between the two I'd say signals are better because they help your units move into the battle. Recon gives a bonus to speed and helps pick better tactics I usually only add them to my motorized units though unless it's a light armor recon for the armor value.
@@Pydgin ah ok thank you very much. One more question tho. What about field hospital and logistics? I aleays got logistics on my troops mostly because it lowers attrition but i dont know by how much. And i never researched field hospitals because i thought they were not usefull
Do a template review
Do you mean Reinforcement Meme
1. thanks for the explanation
2. wtf a 44 width division 1:02
You're welcome, 2, wasn't comment bait I swear.
Is Intiative same thing as reinforce rate?
Initiative gives bonuses to reinforce rate and planning.
Played road to 56. Somehow i always fail to blitz france with germany and being historical as possible while doing that. Maybe this will help
Build good infantry and good tanks divisions, then go Netherlands first, then Belgium, and micro a bit.
@@whatarenames1395 I use my infantry as defense and supporting tanks. 20 width with 2 artillery battalions.
The tanks are also 20 width, but they cant pen the stacks of infantry in belgium. I had 2 games were italy went into faction with yugoslavia, so i had to fight french, british and belgian divisions alone, which i simply cannot pen, even with heavy tanks its fkn hard to pen them.
In vanilla i would reinforce meme the enemies but in 56 its not so easy to reinforce meme.
@@31er_ohne_AMG just have engineers in your infantry with some AA support, focus on making your tanks good (40w, and a lot of them)
Why do people have 3-D soldiers off
please do breakthrough and tanks .
Breakthrough and defense is coming up next week. A dedicated tank video will be late November after No Step Back is released.
Quick, informative videos without memes and clickbait? What the hell is that?
just make 6,2,1.
6 inf, 2 heavy spg , 1 heavy tank
What does product efficiency cap do
I have 350 hours are still don’t know
Production efficiency cap is the maximum percentage your production efficiency can get. When you start a new line or switch factories you lose production efficiency which then grows a little bit every day until it reaches that maximum. You want to get the cap as high as possible so your efficiency can be higher and your factories make more equipment per factory.
The wiki has some graphs on the rate of that growth.

@@Pydgin thanks!
Imagine battle planning, microing Is the best way.
And after 1k+ hours, battleplanning just wastes equipment, manpower and time.
Personally I like to micro as well, but I know a lot of players love to battleplan. There are some insane bonuses that add up and all it requires is clicking one button. I can't really blame them.
Battleplan is fine for the initial week or so, the bonuses are pretty decent. Once it wears off then it's micro time
Why the fuck was this recommended to me via notifications? I don't even play Hearts of Iron
