    I want thank Maul for sharing his home grown recipe with the rest of the world. It is true gift. He is very sincere when he says he is not here to teach you how to fight. Take with you what is useful and discard what is not. Come with an open mind.

    silat principles are the same, whether it is suffian, cimande, minang, cimacan, beksi, etc. they are all the products of their environment, and aim to stop fighting as soon as possible to prevent fatal injuries. in cimande style, to stop fighting quickly, it uses limb destruction methode. this principle is now mixed with wing chun by westerners to create new disciplines.

    Sir
    Why do you sometme call it kuntao silat ? Kuntao is a hokkien word for fighting fist . Does it mean your martial art also have influence from.chinese martial art ?

    • @zuhailishufller8046
      @zuhailishufller8046 Před 5 lety +6

      Kuntao are the martial part of silat. Basically the true hard hitting part of silat. The other form of silat are called tari silat basically a more dance oriented silat based on the culture of the place they are situated. Tari silat are only for shows and demonstration. Malayan people absorbed a lot of Chinese words especially Hokkien or Cantonese words in our everyday speech.

      @@zuhailishufller8046 ok noted.

    • @Freedomspy26
      @Freedomspy26 Před 4 lety +12

      Thats because silat styles varies from region to region. In borneo and parts of the phillipines, their martial arts have roots in Kuntao and has influence from chinese martial art. Silat Suffian Bela Diri's style has Kuntao as its base.. Another style called Silat Gayong Harimau, is from the 1st century Kedah empire. Harimau Berantai Pencak Silat originated from Java. Its amazing as people dont really look at the history of south east asia. since ancient times, there has been kingdoms and empires in these part of the world long before colonial times and its a melting pot of cultures as traders from India, Middle east and China come to trade and do business...
      on a side note.. even in before the current Brunei sultanate, there was a state called Poni in 10th century who had political relations with the Song Dynasty. and even before that, there were also empires in borneo or vassal states of larger empires.. There is also accounts of a chinese settlement in Brunei in the 13th century where the Ming Dynasty founder and emperor sent representatives to Brunei and Indonesia and likewise Brunei paid tribute to the Ming chinese.

    • @pendekarlaut7377
      @pendekarlaut7377 Před 4 lety +1

      Silat can absorb other martial art..other martial arts cant absorb silat.. It really flexible.. What i understand, kuntau is stance, like lock your stance and entire body..and you will going for fisting.. But movement fight style like silat..

    • @MustAfaalik
      @MustAfaalik Před 4 lety +1

      @@zuhailishufller8046 Correct. "Kuntau" is a Chinese word and means Martial Art in the Hokkien dialect. I believe it was introduced to S.E. Asian countries by the early Chinese migrants to the Phillipines, Indonesia and the Malay peninsula and adapted to the environment there. Guru Maul often refer it as Kuntau, and his particular system is very similar to Wing Chun except there is more emphasis on ground fighting and knife techniques to suit the local situation as per Guru. Though, Guru did mention that it is mainly a striking art. There is another silat style that has it closing salutation in the form of Kung Fu fist to palm. Guru Maul is one of very few good people who are genuine and know their art, and one can only improve one's system with Guru's system.
