Ivan Vojt I'd imagine most places in the US don't need it because they have roadways with multiple lanes. Where I live in Canada I can't imagine it being useful at all.
Ivan Vojt When I was telling my family about this new technology, I told them this was surely for Europe and the US. That we'd see this in years... well... I live in Argentina. :/ I didn't see this coming. xD Anyway, surely it will reach the US sooner rather than later.
Cool idea! Simple yet useful! This is a fine case of simple innovation whereby it is not just about the customer but also people around the customer! Good job!
As a trucker in these united states this would be AWESOME!!!!!!! Cant tell you how many times ive been passed on 2 lane roads and they are near misses every time. This could really change how we truck .HI 5 SAMSUNG
Having driven in Argentina, I've experienced this first hand. The tech would also work amazingly well in a country like India - I would think. Super cool fix to a big issue. Hopefully the costs of implementation aren't so high to make it cost prohibitive.
+Strive4impact I am from India! And this tech will not work in India. 1) India is growing fast but Still its a poor country. All four TVs will be stolen very next day. One for Driver's Home, One for his in laws home. One for Cleaner's (his assistance) home and one for his inlaws.. 2) Even if they unable to remove it form back door, Sure it will be break while loading- unloading the goods. 3) Even driver take care while loading i sure screens will break by vibrations and while driving. U really dont have any idea about Indian road. 4) Samsung will just install and will forget about that. Think about the maintenance cost for camera, 4 screens, wiring. What happen in mansoon? in rain? 5) In bright day light screen will not be visible, and in Dark night it will affect visuals specially at the time of overtaking. Most of the trucks in india are very old and many drivers are driving without good seats, bad cabin conditions, doors are not locking, even dipper lights are not working, dont even have break lights, no horn. Drivers are force to drive in such a bad conditions by truck owners. If Samsung really want to help people by road accidents by giving technological solution, Help Truck drivers. 1) Alarm system: distance sensors in front of truck, which will trigger a alarm in cabin and prevent drivers by sleeping. 2) Emergency alarm button which will contact police and hospital and simultaneously send GPS location 3) Provide free ABS and Air Bags. (At-least get subsidy from Gov. I m sure Gov will provide on small amount of bribe.) 4) Low cost small screens for driver and camera in back. 5) Proved Comfortable chairs for drivers, and better sleeping arrangement for cleaner (Co-driver). 6) Low cost LED Display at back which can show some common messages which will help other drivers in long traffic congestion.
Brilliant, absolutely brilliant. This would effectively reduce accidents and fatalities, especially at night when it's harder to see! Way to go Samsung!!
Does the screen also warn you when the truck itself brakes? I can imagine people looking to the screen and not focusing on what the truck is actually doing.
Koreans,Chinese,Taiwanese & Japanese people are always ahead of times in 21st century..Such a revolutionary initiative for road safety 👍🤝Big fan from India 🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳
Very good idea, maybe the camera should be more on the left side of the truck too, just in case if its behind another truck the driver behind can still see
Whaaaaaaaaaaaaat!? That's awesome! One of my greatest fears on the road is when I can't see in front of someone (and not just for passing). It's from when people just jump out of the way of something and you're stuck slamming on the brakes or dangerously swerving when you finally see why.. (I witnessed a girl die because of that exact situation. She was on the shoulder putting gas in her car and a driver noticed her at the last moment and swerved to narrowly avoid her. The driver behind that car couldn't react in time and hit her.. =/ )
No Home Should Be Without One Jehovah's Witnesses! Though I have a bigger problem with the Latter Day Saints and their Chick Tracts at my door.. And because so many Hispanic people live near me, they're always in Spanish, so I have to break out Google Translate just to make fun of them. Too much work!
The idea is great! It is simple and has the potential to save lot of lives. I would like to suggest some features to the idea: 1) the tv to be activated by proximity of the cars 2) use the video images to generate data to support fleet management, road management, safety management among others 3) capture data from overtakings to help estimate the level of prudence drivers 4) keep the truck connected to a network where it can exchange information with human and machines
Or....you could do the same thing at a fraction of the cost with some sensors, and a couple lights on the back of the trailer. Have them turn from red to green when it's safe to pass, and there is X-distance infront of the truck. Have maybe 2-3 sets of lights for redundancy.
***** And than the system fail, show green when should have shown red, people die. Samsung get sued. Samsung go bankrupt. No more bloated Galexy phone.
***** By having monitors, all they are doing is relaying information. If they went the sensor route, they then assume responsibility for the person passing their truck. Many things have to be considered. Such as: how quickly can this vehicle overtake a truck as compared to another vehicle. Are the road conditions safe, dry, no corners. Is the driver good enough to accelerate quickly side by side with the truck. People trust traffic lights way too much. Try watching as they drive through (green lights) an intersection. Very few pay any attention to the traffic coming from sides (at red lights) and trust they are safe because their light is green. The same thing would happen with truck lights. People would trust the green lights and try to pass, when for them it might not be safe. I think this is the best solution for now: "Here is what the road looks like from my perspective, you choose to pass or not" also, Samsung makes monitors. :)
Great idea! I have two concerns though: 1. What if the processing unit, for any reason, becomes unresponsive for a moment? Under any circumstances, the picture must not be delayed or hanged. The display should be automatically turned off in that case. 2. I wonder if it's possible that some drivers will not notice the truck at the first moment, and hit its back. Looking at a picture showing the area ahead, someone can maybe get an impression that the truck is not there.
Rzoockxz 1. If the processing unit becomes unresponsive, you would see a still image, it will appear like an ad rather than a live view. 2. If you have trouble seeing a huge 5m tall truck just because there's a screen on it, you shouldn't be driving anyway.
That's.... pretty cool. Not only because it's helpful, but also in a marketing stand point... It's just so differnent. When people see this, they'll think it's so cool. It's so intuitive you know what it is... a camera in front of the truck. With the Samsung logo on top, and with this really cool idea, is genius marketing. It's a win win for everyone.
having family members and friends who drive in long, dangerous roads in the Philippines, I am touched by your move Samsung! Thanks! I hope all companies do this..
Great idea, Samsung. Great work. If I may offer a small improvement: the camera should be mounted a bit higher. The reason is two-fold. First: it allows for a better sense of distance. Second, from the point of view of the driver behind, oncoming traffic looks very high in the screen which can be intimidating.
Fun fact: Samsung used to manufacture trucks (from 1996 to 2000 due to Asian 1997 crisis) using Nissan (or UD Trucks since 2010) assistance and technology. Two models released: Yamouzine (a license built of Nissan Atlas), and SM 510 (license built of Nissan Diesel Bigthumb with RF8 engine). In this video however, they're using Volvo, which at that time the owner of UD Trucks from 2007-2021.
This needs to be discussed by lawmakers. As soon as the cost is low enough to make it practical it ought to be compulsory on all large vehicles, with a minimum of two cameras so there is a backup in the event of a failure. Great idea, a good use of relatively simple technology. The main aim of the developers needs to be getting the cost down to the point where it is reasonable to require all large vehicles to be fitted with such a system.
I may be a bit ignorant on this because I live in the US, but do the trucks in these other countries drive slower then the posted speed limit? Is this the reason why the cars behind the truck are so inpatient? I do like added safety features, but this seems absurd.
VaporheadATC A fully laden truck going up even a mild incline can be unable to travel at the speed of smaller vehicles on the same road. In even slightly reduced visibility or mild rain the vehicle may need to slow down more too, as its stopping distance is increased more than lighter vehicles. For this and other reasons trucks often ought to travel at a speed much lower than other traffic regardless of legal speed limits. This technology would really help in all of those situations.
FireAngel Londoner Yeah, I can see that. Roads over in the EU seem to be very narrow and never designed for larger vehicles. I've been behind some slow trucks, but these people seem to tailgate the truck and wonder why they get in a wreck when they suddenly swoop out in the other lane,
Very interesting idea. Thumbs up! You should write "Objects on screen might be closer than they appear", since they seemed further on screen than when overtaking the truck :)
as said in some comments before, this is a publicity stunt, the screens aren't even visible during the daytime, and at night, you see the headlights coming towards you from far away, so this doesn't bring anything. But the idea of having a camera on the front of a truck, and being able to see this on a HUD or GPS screen, that would be great, in this way you avoid a lot of materials cost, and you actively work on improving safety if you include 3D object detection on the videofeed, so that the car would actually tell you when it is safe to overtake the truck. SO, to finish, Job well done Samsung, to have people talking about you, in favor or not, but maybe try a bit harder on this idea, and you might have a marketable product after all.
Imagine that! Also with the screen, they could install sensors to let the car driver know that he is to close or that the truck driver can't see the car because it's following too close. This is a great idea.
Nice idea! When there are 2 trucks are one in front of each other, the front one can transmit from its camera to the screen on back of the second one. Work on it Samsung! :-)
You will see some people criticizing this also. The one who do nothing, just giving their valuable suggestions
There are plenty critics, most have not seen this video.
Those who criticized this are Americans-apple fans
Maybe the states will see this tech in 50-100 years.
Ivan Vojt watch it ivan!
AZ DONALD he's right u know.

+Ivan Vojt Great.... in 50 -100 years who of us that reads this will care?
Safty truck gets rear ended,
"I didnt see a truck the road appeared clear"
Cool idea! Simple yet useful! This is a fine case of simple innovation whereby it is not just about the customer but also people around the customer! Good job!
Love this idea! Surprised it took them this long to think of it considering we've had rear view back up cameras in small suv's for how many years now.
- back up camera only used when parking
- they're small and dont use a lot of electricity
Finally a company with the right idea for over the road truck driving safety for motorist following them.
imagine if for some reason the camera has some sort of delay xD
Thanks Mr. Pessimist.
Then it would ALMOST be as bad as a truck without any camera at all, wouldn’t it?
a delay LMAOOO omg that would be sooo bad
Cool trucks
or if a hakker put some funny videos on it...
Oho Samsung.... you made me cry! Thank you!
Good idea. I want to see these screens working in winter time in Canada.
Michael Mouse LOL Can those monitors handle -40 Celsius?
Basically, I’m saying either way, we bout to slide! ❄️
Or Russia 😂🌨️❄️🌬️
As a trucker in these united states this would be AWESOME!!!!!!! Cant tell you how many times ive been passed on 2 lane roads and they are near misses every time. This could really change how we truck .HI 5 SAMSUNG

Have u seen how them crazy motherfuckers drive? They don't give a fuck
This is what i expect from samsung and no videos against apple or other companys, be innovative!
Great to see things like that!

yes,the brake lights come on when they brake
Could also use the screen to show some fake cars if the asshole behind the truck is tailgating them
@@heartlesskiddo2x that's not what the question asked
@@LadyyAudge I mean brake lights are there 😂
Thanks Samsung your technology is the best

NICE ONE SAMSUNG!... GOOD BRANDING YOU HAVE THERE... YOU PUT SMILES IN OUR FACE WATCHING THIS!... MABUHAY!
Serving people to saving life... Excellent 👍👍😊😊
Very useful. I'm surely not the only one that gets that anxiety behind a slow truck on a two lane road.
This is great. Innovation is the solution.
I love the way that Samsung always has breakthrough ideas
Best ever ... this is what tech should be all about at first place !!!
Galaxy S truck
Trailer* Truck Is Volvo
Kenya needs to adopt this technology. We, like Argentina have hundreds of two lane roads. This can definitely save lives. Well done Samsung.
love the idea! well done samsung! hope you can inspire others with this!
Very good idea, maybe the camera should be more on the left side of the truck too, just in case if its behind another truck the driver behind can still see

The Grooviest Thing Witnessed similar. One day we'll be able to make our homes see thru invisible just when the JW's start up the garden path.
That is cool.
And not just because I will now be able to see if there is a zombie apocalypse blocking the motorway up ahead.
nightjarflying what are JW's ?

Such an obvious Technology but still such a MAJOR life saver
this will actually Save many Lives including animals.
I love how Samsung are so pleased that's it's their idea but it's been done countless times before

Lo máximo esta tecnología debe ser impactada en todos los camiones para así evitar los accidentes mortales ....Bien por Samsung
LOVELY IDEA. A helpful aid but we all need to make sure we don't rely on it but use it as a tool
Really appreciating thing ...thank to Samsung for a blasting Idea ...!!!!!!!!!!!

This is a GREAT idea! Bravo Samsung for spending the extra money on your trucks. Hope it catches on.

amazing and very smart idea.they should start using this around the world.
very genius idea. thumbs up Samsung.
I've always thought about it, but you made it real. Great job!
Amazing idea. should save many lives...
Damn Samsung you innovative and smart! AAAAAWWW YEEE BOYEE!

Brilliant. Today the internet tips its fedora to Samsung :)
Good Work Samsung... Jst Love

This is the future and I love it.
Amazing! WELL DONE SAMSUNG!
At 1:40 the suv has to cut in sharply to avoid oncoming traffic, almost side swiping the Samgung truck lol good demo.
Awesome, I do like it, I adore it so much, Hope become trend soon.
Very Very great idea! if we could create this in all moving trucks across the globe in a better more cost effective way this would be huge!
Perfect! Just perfect
O idee geniala pentru a stopa accidentele rutiere.
Nice idea! When there are 2 trucks are one in front of each other, the front one can transmit from its camera to the screen on back of the second one. Work on it Samsung! :-)
QUE belleza de tecnología Samsung electronics
What an absolutely great idea
Great idea. Very helpful. Must reduce accidents dramatically.
Felicitaciones por esta maravillosa idea. Eso ayudara a desminuir los indices de accidentes en todo el mundo.
Ingenious I must Say. Keep up the great innovation.
a ideia é valida
I like how almost everyone here is english at the Samsung Argentina Channel.
nice idea!
Job well done Samsung
