- Well, here is a sequel that the studio had no faith in and we ended up with this. It's pretty average and has lots of sins.
Thursday: Superhero sins, but not the ones you think.
Remember, no movie is without sin! Which movie's sins should we expose next?!

Remember how in the first film, the Jaeger pilots were muscly disciplined cold adults who looked like they'd spent their whole lives in the military and took the job of fighting Kaiju seriously even when they were winning? Even Chuck Hansen, who was arrogant and egotistical, still took it seriously and didn't fuck about when piloting Striker. And whenever they fought, they did their best to avoid damaging the city they were defending, keeping the fighting to the coastline in the water whenever they could and only utilising vehicles and public property - like Gypsy using the shipping crates and tanker ship as weapons - when absolutely necessary.
Then in this film, they just get a bunch of college students, models, underage teenagers and twinks in colourful suits fighting in colourful Jaegers, whooping and bantering as if they're on a rollercoaster, flipping Kaiju off and destroying buildings without a second thought, causing massive damage without a care for how long or how much it will take to rebuild as if they're playing a virtual reality game. It completely eliminates all sense of seriousness and urgency in war and thus, makes it feel like you're not watching a Pacific Rim film.
aside from the part where u used the word “twink” i agree.
Well said
That could partially be logically explained by the fact the idiots of this film were trained solely using simulators with 0 consequences, still stupid, but you cod explain it that way, of course it seems they didn't and instead did it just because.
You left out the part that the sequel causes me physical pain to think about years later
They should have left the series alone and just have the first movie as a standalone. They could have spent that time making a Jeager pilot simulator at Universal
aren't their brains linked? so why do they have to ask each other what they want to do shouldn't they just know what each other has planned?
Good question. I thought the same, but how else will the audience know what they're saying?
@@jaan08011 subtitles
So we know what's happening
But there is that one scene were they did the middle finger but didnt say anything
Because it probably feels cool. I mean, I wouldn't stay silent when I beat in the face of a 300ft monster
One thing I noticed when watching the first Pacific Rim was that in each and every single scene in the movie either was raining or had water in the set somewhere and the giant robots and rain made the aesthetic of the movie along with spectacular animation which made the robots feel real. But in the second movie it lacks all of that.
That always bothered me as well
And when you think about it, it would make a lot more sense for the kaijus to attack on dark and barely visible environment to put the humans at a disadvantage.
Just generally easier to animate in poorly lit environment, lol
It lacks the atmosphere or aura that jager in the first movie emits
@@darkmathsamport3694 you mean the "weight" of the jaegers in the first movie is there. It really feels real because they move like actual colossal robots. Not some power ranger megazord
The thing I hated the most about this movie was that unlike the original Pacific Rim, the robots don't have any weight to them. In the original movie every step, every motion, every punch, you got the feeling you basically had a walking building wreaking destruction. In the sequel it feels like they're all human sized robots hopping around a miniature set, without even having the decency to film it in slow mo like a Godzilla movie.
😂😂😂😂😂
Thank John Boyega for that. In an interview he said, he thought the robots "move too slow"
@@sowiwiody3681 That's bullshit by him. Slow moving giant robots is hundreds times better

@@justDinzy1712 I can't tell if you're joking or this is a stupid r/wooooosh moment.
Are we not going to discuss the fact that Raleigh’s name was only mentioned once. I mean he was the protagonist in the first movie and yet they make it seem like he didn’t help save the world in any way.
That and where the hell was he? I mean, he is a friggin war hero just like mako and mako´s partner (not just on Jaeger battles according to how movie 1 ended). Why is mako there and not reileigh (even if it would be to command the opperations along with her or train the rookies)?
TheXulupa Well the actor for Raleigh couldn’t make it for the sequel, so the directors had to remake the script, but still they could’ve at least mention how Mako AND Raleigh were war hero’s and saved the world!
@@dreamer_1645 I immagined that, but yeah, more mentions for him would be nice
He left his webcam on accidentally and footage of him jerkin the gerkin to footage of kaiju rampaging through cities was leaked, so they don't talk about him anymore
random guy yeah...I’m pretty sure that’s not what happened....
I watched this movie again recently, and i have to say that the Jaegers seem to destroy more of the city than the Kaiju themselves...
If they killed the Kaiju without destroying stuff, that would kill more people than the Jaegers.

You missed one major sin: this movie claims that every kaiju that ever came through the Breach was trying to make it to Mount Fuji. Assuming that the Breach is located in the Pacific Ocean, hence “Pacific Rim”, then what was Knifehead doing in Anchorage, Alaska?

Stop making sense dammit
In movie one Newton explains that "First was just the hounds. Categories 1 through 4 was nothing. Their sole purpose was to aim for populated area and take out the vermin: Us! The second wave, the exterminators. And they will finish the job."
@@anshukmr then why did Mutavore head to Sydney Australia? By that logic a cat 4 shouldn’t have been focused on anything but Mt. Fuji.
And it's even more stupid as the Kaiju, Onibaba, attacked Tokyo and was never even mentioned moving anywhere to Mount Fuji.
The first Pacific Rim was made by adults to bring out our inner 9 year olds. The sequel was straight up made by 9 year olds

FakhirRBX I honestly haven’t watched it but I did enjoy all the parts I’ve seen(mainly the jaeger parts) but I understand why it gets more negativity. Update : whatever you do do not click replies unless you do not value your sanity
I don't know why this film has a lot of hate because I'm one of the few people who likes it. I can understand that they didn't get all the old actors from the first film to reprise their roles like Raleigh but that's probably because the actor would want lots of money to come back. Like in the MCU the actors who played Rhodey and Bruce Banner in their debut were later replaced by different actors because the old actors wanted more money and yet nobody complains about them now. The other issue people have is the CGI saying it looks bad but the first movie was always in shown in the dark but if it was shown more during the day you wouldn't complain. The next issue people have is how the jaegers don't have weight to them and how you can't feel their hits like in the first film but you also have to remember that these are Mark 5 to 7 Jaegers and they're more advanced than the Mark 1 to 4 jaegers. They're not going to rebuild old jaegers to fight against newer kaiju that might have the advantage in battle. So they made newer models to keep up. And there's the issue that they look the same. I beg to differ, they look completely different to me. And people complain that kids are the ones piloting the jaegers. Are you serious I see nothing wrong with that, we've seen it done in hundreds of anime so why are you complaining now. The next issue is Stacker's son who was never mentioned in the first film. Maybe he was never mentioned was because his father probably disowned him after trying to pilot a jaeger by himself and failed. Next issue was killing off Mako and yes I will agree with that but remember what I said about actors needing money but it did serve as a good motivation for Jake to become a pilot and save the world. The next biggest issue was the kaiju were always heading for Mt. Fuji. Remember what Newton said in the first film the Precursors sent the Kaiju to attack cities to soften them up and then send the bigger threats. They were most likely trying to eliminate any threats that would interfere with their plans to take over the earth. The Kaiju's position of where they were at the time just happen to be towards the direction of Mt. Fuji.
@@TheToaprimezilla doesn't matter the fact thatthese are Mark 7 or whatever, they still look floaty and that breaks the imersion, the first movie make sure the robots feels heavy and grounded.

I still think this could've been a good movie if they had a decent script. The idea of Newton suffering consequences for drifting with a Kaiju, and the precursors readapting their plan to turn our own weapons into bio-horrors were really cool. Even the scrapyard jaeger was an interesting idea. Also they did Raleigh and Mako real dirty to insert new protagonists.

Something that really infuriated me about this movie is how Nate used the ejection pod. Couldn’t he just have detached himself from his rod? He clearly had the strength to survive it, climb all the way up those stairs to the top of the building and knock out the antagonist. He was already close to the ground and all the dramatic last moments of the main characters sequence could have been avoided.

Are we not going to talk about how Newt just suddenly pulled a whole army of kaiju re-assembling drone things out of his ass? This extremely convenient robot army hadn't been mentioned in the plot at all before this point, but suddenly there they are. Hell, they don't even tell us what they are so at first I thought they were tiny kaiju. like, even if you assume that they are some random Shao tech that he used in this situation, they serve a super-specific purpose. I mean what are the chances that Shao just happened to make an army of man-sized robots that specialize in taking apart and putting together kaiju? and there's no way Newt had them specifically designed for his plan because you have to assume that even if he got the plans for these robots greenlit someone along the Sao industries production line would think "huh, why are we making this legion of robots that re-assembles kaiju?" and immediately inform the CEO lady.
its such a shame that Pacific Rim never got a sequel.
Another sin, this cash-grab sequel creates plot-holes in the first movie that weren't originally there!
To explain, the first movie shown they only spawned from the pacific ocean, and travel across the world in different directions to level major cities; yet this movie throws that out the window, by saying they were all going straight to fuji to cause a global explosive event, instead of systematically ruining our infrastructure that was clearly portrayed from the first movie.
If they wanted a global explosive event from a Volcano then why aren’t they attacking Indonesia? Or hell If the kaiju wanted to attack Japan they could’ve attacked Sakurajima which has a literal super volcano underneath it!
Or Yellowstone seeing as it's a dormant super volcano.
Or anywhere along the "Ring of Fire", part of which is in the ocean.
(They literally could have opened a breach next to it and sent the world to hell within a few minutes.)
Just dig into the unstable areas and plant a mega bomb, or something...
I mean they had an EMP on one of the Kaiju in the first film, so why not a Bomb on another for this film.
Uprising really made no sense at all...
It's on par with that shitty independence day sequel.
Same concept with the heroes too.
Ragtag group of individuals that shouldn't be as good as the film makes them, yet they magically save the day anyway.
MtnD0 2.0 although Yellowstone is a massive supervolcano the problem with it is that it’s deep within the US whilst Krakatoa,Mount Tambora, Campi Flegrei, and the Volcano I mentioned are all close to the ocean or heck maybe lake Toba or Long Vally which are both more inland but not as far inland as Yellowstone
Josefie Krakowski yeah but still, it's not like they would expect it.
Also the underwater volcanoes
Your saying they pretty much stole the plot of godzilla because of the spawn locations?
I seriously can say this...
Pacific Rim: an excellent movie that is unique and without equal

Yes Charlie Hunnam couldn't do it because of his schedule, but they should have at least mentioned him more.
One thing I'm confused about... doesn't Del Toro say that at the end of the first film, the Kaiju's world is destroyed? Or was that just the breach? He said the world of the Kaiju was on the brink of collapse, and so they needed to overtake another in order to survive. So... did their world not actually collapse or something? (Maybe the movie explains this, I haven't actually seen it fully.)

You need to add another two sins because
a) Had they actually managed to grab the helicopter they would have simply crushed it and
b) Why did they not use the gravity sling thing they showed literally a minute ago to catch the goddamn helicopter?
Ya thats a point 🙄
More like “if they spent two more seconds taking two more steps they could’ve caught the helicopter” diving doesn’t make u necessarily faster
Brain stopped functioning
they would've lost her anyway
1. running wasnt fast enough
2. a crash landing that'll kill her anyway
3. the gravity sling would take too long to charge anyway
she's dead unless she dosent board the chopper
(or the jaegers kill he un-knowingly cuasing more property damage and killing a high value personal at the same time)
The jaegers neurological connection system gives them a connection between their nerve system and the jaegers damage system, thus they feel when they're damaged, hence when they git hit they yell out in pain, thus they can feel how much weight they're putting on objects. So they would be able to catch the helicopter without crushing it had they been able to move fast enough. Well that also depends on how much force they use on the copter.

Uprising was the Independence Day Resuregence of Pacific Rim
Kal-El fan 49 omg I was just thinking that
Not really, as this movie shares almost no similarities with those shitty ID4 movies, you're just comparing 2 random movies that look nothing alike
JurassicAvenger/Goji14 it was an unnecessary, shitty sequel, like Independence Day Resurgence
It's worse than just being a terrible sequel. Compare the movies: The main, cooler hero from the last movie dies before the movie began, because the actor looked at the script and said, "Naw." A secondary female character from the last movie dies to give the new protagonist some bullshit motivation beyond, "Save the world." There are two scientist characters from the last movie(s) that had very small roles given much grander significance in the sequel(s). The whole world thinks the problem is over until Bigger Alien comes in to wreck shit up. The new, untested force fails, then succeeds, though the problem is better developed in ID4:R, whereas here, it's summed up in 30 minutes.
Oh, and the main climax of both films is set to appeal to Asia, and the entire reason there will be sequels to these cinematic trainwrecks is because Asia loves Western action movies, making this piece of shit viable for a sequel.
Only difference is: Roland Emmerich directed both ID4 films, and Guillermo del Toro only directed the first Pacific Rim.
ADD A SIN!!! They take Scrapper just to use it whenever they think it’s convenient, they didn’t even have permission to use it, plus it was probably that lady’s first time using a Jeager and she somehow did parkour all throughout the city like it was nothing.

I’d seen ninja scroll, Trigun, Record of Lodoss war, Lupon the third, slayers, Ah my goddess, love heina, Exel Saga etc... long before I even saw my first episode of dragon ball or sailor moon 🤣 guess I kinda went backwards
*That's a lotta damage*
puts flex tape on movie
That Guy With Some Subs-that’s...better
Even Flex Tape could not fix this movie...
lol
It holds the plot together!
Nice profile pic
I don’t even know where to find it but the opening title clip has the best 3 seconds of audio I think I’ve ever heard and I need a full version
That evangelion bit is gold....
And accurate
17:36 Omg Hell yesss! I was waiting for any Evangelion reference
OVO._. Alex I know right lol. I'm still having flash backs of the 12 eating asuka.
Now I have to listen to the whole song thanks cinema sins
Steve Zimmerman You think that’s bad! The Japanese children are still traumatized from this Evangelion commercial: czcams.com/video/hsfPgtKstfc/video.html on a dinnertime slot.
OHHH SNAP I HAD LIKE NAM FLASHBACKS
i could not for the life of me remember the name thank you so so much 😭😭😭
Who else knows the whole song?
I’ve officially made this movie not cannon in my mind. This was a dissapointment
Same
Whats cannon
Black Paper it means real basically, like it means it actually happened, like “my birth is canon” like “my birth happened”
Something like it's part of the story, if it's non-canon it's a seperate story not partaking in the current one. Or a continuation/prequel not confirmed by the original author to be actually the story.
@@user-db8lj6wt7z Ohh alright thanks for explaining!! I always see that word in DC's site too been wondering what it is

Not to mention they all celebrate even though they’re friend died
they just fucking saved the world dude 1 death isnt a reason to not celebrate
@@kayruwijaya3901 but they totally ignored it as if it didn't happen. Not once did they mention it. Sure they should still be happy cause they saved the world but their friend died. Wouldn't you acknowledge their death.

This movie name should be evangelion
Cậu PVT Gear even evangelion was better
@ this heap doesn't even deserve to be named Evangelion.
The only real sin required is.....this film exists.
💯
should have added 100 sins for all the times they either definitely killed people in buildings or just plain old destroyed buildings for no reason
Definitely needed a bonus round there.
and they even destroyed the roads by running on them
17:40 hahaha i love envigelion
If you've read the comics, you'd know that this is NOT Amara's first time piloting a Jaeger, and actually participated in home-made Jaeger races.
Ok
Wait... Mako is the Secretary General so why is she in a normal helicopter and not a VTOL or super helicopter?
Gaming Time DING
TL. You just needed to write, "Why kill off Mako?"
Also why was she still airborne after the other thing arrived??
Or um I think you responded to the wrong person
@@crusaderchris5441 oops let me correct that
In the First Pacific Rim it says
"That neuronal thing was too much for one Pilot so it was Split to two"
She controlled the Jaeger full alone + did flips
It was a "Small" Jeager........
U need to watch the movie properly to understand, oh wait u probably hate it so u didnt watch it, so do research b4 commenting
Uhh it’s small enough to be controlled by one person.
@@benjamintan5399 i watched on the day it came out on the theater and ngl i was disappointed
Ah yes they made it with exactly the same fucking technology as the first ones "bUt iT wAS SmALlEr" so ez pz.
Do you people take in consideration that this movie was actually shit?
That "Evangelion" scene at the end is *smooch*... perfect.
You forgot about the unnoticed Gundam statue.
This movie was tragic. They took their own science and tossed it out. They ignored the actions of over half the Kaiju in the first film. The addition of the young pilots killed most of the tone set by the previous film and prevented them from obtaining any seriousness for this one. It would have been fine if it wasn't for every single pilot seemingly acting as if it was there first day in training.
The strangest part is this though: For every error and oddity, there is a awesome thing. We see Jaegers 1 and 2 Marks newer than Striker Eureka (a jaeger that was wrecking a cat 5 by itself) and then its ruined by the apparent inability to injure cat 4r Kaiju. We see a vastly upgraded version of Gypsy that goes toe to toe with (IMO) one of the best designed jaegers in the movies and then when fighting a cat 5 kaiju seemingly forgets all those weapons in favor of tipping bldg's over onto kaiju(who have been seen smashing through said bldg without harm).
There were so many better plot hooks, and the one they went with they seemed determined to trash.
Ryokkeno actually the jaegers were either Mk5 and Mk6, so the same Mark or only one up from Striker Eureka. But yeah still a good point...
also, in the simulator when we're being introduced to the cadets, we see the Bracer Pheonix team fail to take down onibaba, a CATEGORY TWO that was taken down in minutes by Coyote Tango, a mark 1, in a jaeger that probably moves twice as fast as it and was made literal decades after it. at that point, they're not untrained, they're just fucking hopeless.
When Obsidian Fury and Gipsy Avenger we’re fighting, you forgot to mention how the thin ice didn’t break when they stood on it or fell on it
Why would you use precious memory space to remember their names....
Ok, Obsidian fury is a badass name no matter how much you hate this movie
LOL did anyone else not see that 100 movie sin counter reached 100 at 8:12 minutes in the video
17:35: I've been waiting for this one!
"Second movie is always worse than the first movie" cliché.
Not when that second movie is the Godfather Part 2.

The dark knight:
I love this job
Pacific Rim is a well made, visually interesting, and well written with developed characters; main characters Raleigh and Mako and supporting Stacker, Herc, Chuck and Tendo. The fact they worked together to seal the breach was great. It shows how different races of people worked so hard to end the kaiju threat with their jaegers The sequel is a badly made, dull mess with young characters who can't get along when they meet. Meanwhile, Jake and Nate are both trying to get Jules to notice them as possible romantic partners. Amara is too intelligent for a 15 year old. NO ADULT has attempted to build a jaeger right? She is the Rey of Pacific Rim.
LMAO, they both suck, kid
the entire movie is just stupid
My only complaint with this is you saying Amara is to smart for a 15 year old is wrong. Age doesn’t really matter when it comes to how smart someone can be.
@@giantenemycrab1192 Jeager program is like a pilot for air force, and Amara is 15, and last i check child soldiers are banned by international treaties.
The thing I really hate about Amara is HOW THE FUCK DID SHE BUILT THAT. Like she just magically just knows how to build a small Jaeger, how to build a one person drift, how to pilot it and how to power it. At an age of 15 with lack of manpower, lack of tools that would bring cables around and the Jaeger technology for sure is complex enough that a civilian won’t know how to reverse engineer nor make a small scale model of it.
Yet she still somehow does all of that and within a shorter timeframe as she lacked manpower and how the fuck can she haul metal and tools without being caught making it?
The Jager Meister joke got me! 💀
The existence of this movie itself adds up to a 1000 sins
This truly is an unworthy successor to Del Toro's movie.
Del Toro made a love letter to all Kaiju and Giant Robot fans everywhere, Steven Deknight made a shlockfest aimed at the lowest common denominator, thinking that because he's a fanboy of the movie that he can make a good sequel.
Disagree with alot of things actually. I think the director for uprising the best he could given the material and I think the direction they took it in was a decent one
You're free to have your opinion on that as long as you respect mine.
I do XD
gojira4life
Except Guillermo himself actually chose Steven to direct Uprising.
And he chose poorly... evident by the result of his trust in him.
You didn't point out that Mako's heli could've been saved by the Gravity Sling. I feel like that would earn the movie at least 10 sins.
Dr. DJ Savato I hadn't thought of that until re-watching the scene again in this video but yeah I thought about that very solution.
I guess she just needed to die for no reason and so logic was ignored.
director killed one and only good character in his fucked up film
Shit, she could have been saved if gypsy took ONE more step before reaching out to catch the helicopter.
He dun goofed. Also, I'm pretty sure that tht gravity sling is a fancy name for a tractor beam.
As a pilot I can tell you that yes pilots and mechanics will have “beef” in every possible universe.
Which is completely stupid. Like do they not know that mechanics hold the pilots' lives in their hands? They can just act like there's a mistake in construction and boom, you're dead during deployment. Hell, they can give the pilots experimental gears, that "coincidentally" malfunctioned during testing, which meant the pilots once again died.
The fact they made a second movie and it turn out very disappointing, I just wish they kept the first one and only the first one
Surprised you guys missed the "salt bae" meme reference with the sprinkles.
Asa Thompson Oh YOu MeAn THe fOrTNiTe EmoTE???
Don't forget her claim of "it's small enough to run on a single neural load" then proceeds to pilot her small jaeger without any kind of helmet or neural interface.
Kenazzle I didn’t even notice that, wow huge plot hole missed
Guillermo should come back to this franchise & do a prequel.
