    Great review, you need to get your hands on the Lcd 2c

      Thank you for the kind words. I would love to have a listen to the LCD2C but my budget doesn't consider it an option at this point. Maybe someone would be willing to send a pair in for a review 🤔

    Yes, the amp's the thing with this headphone. The cable is also critical. It took me a long time to find the right ones for my taste. On most amps that I have tried the 700 sounded very different on each one but never really right on any of them. But on the Decware Taboo MK III with either the silver or all copper cable from GUCraftsman the 700 are a joy to listen to but not as good as the HE6SEV2 so I don't listen to the 700 as much as I once did. On my SMSL HO 200 amp running balanced they are darker sounding than with the Decware amp but they are still a treat to listen to. The timbre of solo and concerto classical piano music is overly lush with the SMSL but still enjoyable due to the "deep and wide" headstage presentation of a symphony orchestra by the 700 (mentioned in the Honest Audiophile's review). The mod from StefanAudioArt improved the 700 significantly in every way in case you are willing to give it a go. That mod is not listed on the SAA website as of now so send an email to them in case you are interested. I realize that adding the cable and the mod will be seen by many to be too much to spend but I think their cost was worth every penny. I love using the modded 700 for movies and tv and enjoy their comfort very much as well. And the lush midrange is a nice change from the more linear sound of my planars every now and then.

      Thank you for your recommendation!
      Could you also help me with an amp to pair them with? I suppose I won't know if I'll enjoy their signature or not till I hear them, but I have currently a Creative Sound BlasterX G6 dac/amp. I hear people saying these work amazing with tube amps and they create an organic, life-like sound, especially for live orchestral scores

    • @TheHonestAudiophile
      @TheHonestAudiophile  Před 4 lety

      @@Immortal__ If you want a tube amp I would look at a Dark Voice or a hybrid like the Cavalli CTH. If you want a solid state amp, I would look at something that has a little bit of warmth to it like an Aune X7s or Cavalli LCX.

      Thank you so much for the recommendation. Are there any other warm amps you could recommend me which will bring down the highs, perhaps raise the lows and still retain clarity and soundstage? (I live in the UK and the lcx seems impossible to find here)

    Just bought a pair of the HD700, A little nervous because of how they've been perceived. But I don't actually like heavy bass, and I am much more heavily into details, I'm very sensitive to bass though. I need it to be clean, not extremely punchy, but just the right amount. I don't like the shaking on my ear drum. that being said, are these headphones balanced capable? by the way love your review, I think it is amazing and detailed, I recently watched your meze empyrian video. You're so honest and open about how you feel about the headphones. I don't expect a reply, but I thank you for giving a review to these headphones. :D

      The HD700 are balanced capable with a replacement cable but the cables are expensive. Look forward to hearing your impressions. Thanks for the kind words, greatly appreciated ❤️

      @@TheHonestAudiophile The DX7 Pro i'd say is pretty good, It is only my second headphone amp/dac combo, as I was running the mayflower O2 before this. I'd say that it's a neutral sounding amp that brings out the details of a song fairly well, Listening to some of the Bloodborne soundtrack recently I never heard this very small sound of a chain being lightly dragged until I ran some headphones through the DX7 Pro. I say it really overall it's very crisp. however, going to Jeff Buckleys Hallejuah (probably just my own headphones) from the 990 pro's 250ohms , some of the highs were pretty harsh. I was using qobuz as I don't have it locally. but inversely, it was also the most beautiful version of Hallejuah I've ever listened too.
      Being so fresh to the hobby and knowing that beyer is good for reference, It actually got me teary eyed listening to Hallejuah, I felt I could hear very distinctly the emotion of the song, probably placebo. but also being so new, I never realized just how much of a difference hi-fi can make if you're listening.

    • @BaeKasma
      @BaeKasma Před 5 lety +1

      Elexs are more neutral while these have a spike in the highs. You cant listen to them for too long because they are too bright

    As a long term Sennheiser HD700 user, i can second this. Try to Eq your HD700 using this github.com/jaakkopasanen/AutoEq/tree/master/results/innerfidelity/sbaf-serious/Sennheiser%20HD%20700
    (eq with Equalizer APO)
    sourceforge.net/projects/equalizerapo/
    this makes the HD700 perfectly flat ish and it will sing more and more details by cutting that harsh 6-7K peak. you should try this. not many people know of this.
    i think you should do a follow up video to this after eqing it. because it makes a day & night of a difference
    Much love from sri lanka \m/

      I have a question, I made my HD 700 with APO Equalizer based on the Rtings measurement, and my question goes to the bass and high part. In the low it shows that I have to give furnishings of up to 6db (30hz) but this is so? The same question for the treble at the 13khz frequency (they have a huge 15db drop) I only increased 10db but does the treble drop that much?
      My question to ask you what kind of changes in the equalizer you have applied.
      I would appreciate if you could answer my questions.
