How come in 2000 the PBA did 8 men per telecast? Seems cool but clunky having three triple threat matches in a row.

That was back when the PBA was trying every gimmick they could think of when they were in danger of folding altogether. The constant crowd noise during the 1998 and 1999 seasons was another such gimmick.
