  • #Gravitas | The U.S. Coast Guard says that four Chinese military vessels were spotted near Alaska's Aleutian islands on July 10. Is China trying to widen the conflict with the U.S.? What else explains the spotting of Chinese military ships inside the U.S.' exclusive economic zone?

Vietnam, South Korea, Indonesia, Philippines, Taiwan, and Japan are all racing to build up their military's in the South and East China seas. They all support the U.S. military presence there because China has been pushing claims on territories of over a dozen neighboring Asian Nations. There is a reason why South East Asia supports the U.S. military presence, because China is trying to expand and undermine their territorial sovereignty.

A statement released by the US Navy’s 7th Fleet said, “On April 7, 2021 (local time) USS John Paul Jones (DDG 53) asserted navigational rights and freedoms approximately 130 nautical miles west of the Lakshadweep Islands, inside India’s exclusive economic zone, without requesting India’s prior consent, consistent with international law.”

China has been pushing to expand it's borders into over a dozen Asian nations, including the Himilayan region nations of India, Nepal, and Bhutan. The U.S. military presence in the China seas are justified to protect the nations territories there from being annexed by China.
