Make Your Own Senkos & Ned Baits for Pennies
Remelting used soft baits & making new ones
This video shows how to recycle your used soft plastic baits. I've been using recycled craws, senkos and swimbats for the last year. The $35 mold pays for itself after about a dozen packs. Making your own baits dose take a little work, but the most important thing is to not get hurt. Read safety instructions and wear proper protection.
Would you like to see how easy it is to recycle plastic baits and save money? Remelt those old baits. I took a little time to help teach you in this DIY Recycle old baits tutorial video to show you step by step on just how easy it can be.
We are remelting used plastic and mixing up one big pot of ugliness for today's video! Never let your old plastic go to waste! You can make some weird colors for your baits when blending old plastisol together.

Nice job. I have a ton of old bulldogs I need to melt down. Thanks
A single bull dawg would make quite a few bass baits?
You can make your own open pour molds with a little plaster of Paris, mix it up press some new baits in, let it dry and you have a mold, works pretty well
For sure, I have played around with that and resin molds. Not my jam.
I use to play around with re melting and hand pouring years ago. I used the hot plate heating method and open pour molds. I even got as far as making my own molds and creating new baits. Nothing as cool as catching fish on baits you made and poured. Good video.
It's a fun deal to play with over the winter for sure
I sold most of my hand pouring molds and supplies off a couple of years ago along with a lot of colorants and flake. I kept some of my original molds I made and some plastasol just in case I ever get the urge again.
I only do remelts and injection of a few basic shapes that I know I will use
awesome! not sure why i don't do this!
Cause you are too busy sleeping in ice shacks & cars with other dudes
First I've seen anything like reusing plastic baits and i am a cheap DYI bastard... right up my alley. Thanks
Love It!
Dig it! Might have to come by and borrow those molds lol
For sure
Keep up the good work

🤘🤘🤘
Free baits! I'm definitely going to start doing this in 2020.
More the merrier!
Ill give some a try if you want 👍🇺🇸
Nice!
Great idea! I'd love some senkos!
HELLLLLLA BASSSSSSS is back!
Might be Hella Crappie for a few weeks on the local lakes....
Genius
🤓🤓🤓🤓
Love it! I am afraid that I would get all the gear and it would turn out like the brewing equipment that I used a few times. But the senkos you made look legit! Keep up the good content!
For sure, that's why I mostly showed stuff you probably have around the house or you can get cheap at a garage sale outside of the mold it self. Here is an idea... share this video with a buddy, get him to do it & you can just donate your plastics to him in exchange for a few baits 😉
Sweet video.
If you look closely, you can see some of your old baits being brought back to life in the video
Jug was just sitting there. Hopefully I will be accumulating more for you in the very near future.
Love all of the baits that you've made so far.
Thanks!! Have you tried making any yourself?
Fuck, those sticks look goooood. I've been saving the $100's worth of plastics I've used this year. Will be doing this with them, this winter for sure.
Good way to kill time in the winter
Thanks for making this video! I've been wanting to start recycling baits and everyone else I watched always left out steps and recourses. I gave a sub!
Right on Man! Have fun, drop another comment when you catch some on your own baits bud
Yea they are good looking baits. I have been thinking about trying that. I'll have to save those old plastics this year.
Doesn't hurt to save them. If you don't use them, there are other anglers and companies that will take them and recycle them
Good stuff man! 👊
Looks solid! Pit boss baits look great!
Thnx. It has consistently gotten bit when I have used them
Those pre rap warts for sale?
I mean anything is for sale 🤑
Hell yeah come on
Have you tried it?
Cool stuff. I’d be interested in throwing some. Been wanting to get a Fat Ika mold for years or design my own jig trailer.
I think a fat ika mold with the tentacles is slightly more complicated with more moving parts and inserts. Getting a cheap mold and trying it with reused plastics is a good way to see if its for you before investing plastisol, colorants and glitter.
HellaBass i just need to shoot the body then bond the tentacles which you can purchase separate
@@Roboworm99 Sounds ez enuff
Did you take advantage of the dobyn sales?
Depends... is my wife reading this? 😬🤣😂
Look awesome . Have you done any with scent in them ??
Yes, one thing to consider is many of the used plastics have some kind of salt or scent baked into them so the baits have cocktail mix of scent already.
Secondly adding oil or scent during cooking process is tricky. I find it best to just add scent to the bag or container you store them in & let them marinate in that until you out them on the hook! Thnx for watxhing.
@@HellaBass Other than bags from existing soft plastics that you already have, do you have a preferred bag that you could recommend for storage so I can add scent and package into 8 or 10 pieces per bag?
I think it's a shitty deal fearing you can kill me when we both just want to go fishin. Nice mold stash. Around here really cold is 'Montana cold'. I'd bet that is a lot of fun to play with.
Great informative video. Do you add the salt & glitter or is it in the plastics that were melted?
Everything you saw was just from the reused baits. You definitely could add more, but I normally do not.
So I want to get the supplies and stuff for this I love fishing and I want to start making my own baits
If you need help finding any of it, look at links in the video's description below! Thanks for tuning in!
Yooo I’m just getting into bait making and recycling! I’d love to try some out if you have any left
The baits look awesome. I am a huge senko fan. I am actually getting my first ever mold next week. Do you find the injector molds easier than the hand pour molds?
The injection mold is faster and more consistent. But you often have to purge and clear ot between molds. If you really get into it, multiple injectors will help with productivity
@@HellaBass will do. Thanks for the advice. Starting out with a senko mold. Can't wait to try it out.
Received my first mold today. Now just waiting on the injector.
Send pics of your first baits
Lemme catch ol' momma on Hella Baits

In all seriousness, awesome video

How can I join your paper club?
Do you live in MN?
@@HellaBass yeah prior lake. I think I’m going to join the Bloomington club, but wanted to reach out to multiple clubs. Also thought it be cool to fish against someone with the experience that you have.
You talking about Sportsmen's? Good people there. Our club doesn't have many events, so less opportunity to fish and learn, they are probably a better fit
@@HellaBass yeah. When I found out what a paper club was, I decided the same thing. Maybe next year I will meet you at TOC. You fishing any opens this year? Trying to find possible travel partners. Split gas lodging and whatever else. Want to fish as a co-angler so I travel lite. Let me know, just trying to get more associated with the scene here in MN. I got classic dreams, and am ready to get to work.
At this time, not signing up for any Bassmaster Opens
