MIKU is doing all the lyrics for Band-Maid and she is a little poet, let me tell you that! This song is an love letter to their masters and princesses, that they miss them, but that this tough times making the bond between us even stronger and they always gonna try to make us feel good like we always support them and giving them much love back. They are really precious especially their characters, you just have to fall in love with them and i don´t have to talk about their talent, it´s through the roof! Nice reaction and even if you couldn´t understand it, you felt it! That´s what music is about... Feelings! Greetings from Germany

I think it is a weird coincidence that someone starts chopping onions in the house whenever I start to listen to this song.
My favorite part of the song is the bass groove, and the accompanying drum beat. Oh and the sweet guitar melody. Plus the vocals. My other favorite part is the background vocals. I think that is what really enhances the emotion of this song.

Kanami has really done a brilliant job with the songwriting here. The instruments can fully play out their strengths thanks to the moderate tempo. Even the backing track with the violin and the piano fits the mood perfectly. But as good as the song is instrumentally, for me this song belongs to the voices of Miku and especially Saiki. Even in the audio-only version, and before I had the translated lyrics at hand, I was captivated by them. And now that I know the content, and was able to experience this live performance, the whole thing just gets under my skin every time. And I think you can tell in several scenes that the girls also had quite a lump in their throats in several places.
The song is meant as a thank you to the fans for their continued support in this crazy situation, but I think we should not forget that exactly this has also demanded a lot from the girls, and also taken away a lot from them. So I think we owe them at least as much.

Here’s a super fan (t-shinji) translation of Saiki’s heartfelt monologue / speech before this song was performed that day:
Saiki: We were supposed to meet you today. For the first time in a year, we thought we could meet you all, those of you who could come to see us, but we can’t meet you in the end. I’m sorry. Even though it’s not my fault.
We have been having days of turmoil for about a year. In the beginning, we were very surprised because we hadn’t experienced it before, and we had no experience of not being able to meet others in person. We were sad, but we found we shouldn’t be sad in this situation. When I saw you masters and princesses on social media, you were more depressed than us, and we thought that’s terrible.
We Band-Maid have been thinking about how to cheer up all of you in the last one year. We truly wanted to meet you at Nippon Budokan, but it’s impossible because of COVID, so let’s wait for the day when we can meet.
And in the last one year… or in the COVID pandemic, we have become more eager to cheer you up, and we Band-Maid realized again it’s important to give our songs to you.
That’s why we wrote this song for Budokan.
We made the album also in the pandemic, so it might have a little similar feel, but this song is planned for Nippon Budokan, and we really want to give it to you masters and princesses now.
Budokan is not our goal but just a stepping stone. We will perform at bigger venues, and we promise we will bring you there and give you even better songs, so let’s keep it up a little more.
This is our present for you masters and princesses. Please listen to it.

This is my favorite Misa bassline. Not because of the chops, we all know she can slap and use a pick, but because she's playing all finger style and perfectly holds all the other parts together.
This song is about us, not just in title. This is a love letter to the fans during the COVID shutdown. Sure it could also be applied to a romantic relationship too, but they have said that it's more about the fans.
There are English subtitles available on this song so you can get the full scope of what the song is about.

With this new album they are at the top of their game. Really, Really love this one. Miku and Saiki are in sync, MISA is right there with her lead bass. Akane is subtle as is Kanami letting Miku and Saiki's singing be the focus. MISA said in an interview that her bass lines are incorporated pretty much as is, this is her best work to date. Miku (?) said that one of the things they got from Tony Visconti was sometimes simpler was best.
This song sounds like they took it to heart. Miku Kobato is highly respected in Japan for her lyrics, she is a highly talented and very smart too.
As to acoustic guitar, checkout Puzzle acoustic. Just Kanami and Saki and Kanami sings!

Gorgeous song, brings tears every time.
For all the fans, but I feel it very personally just as I think every one of us does.
A reminder of how they much they, the rockstars, the brilliant musical artists, genuinely care for and appreciate you and me and our support, especially in this tough time.
In case you're interested, there is a neat story (there are a lot of neat stories with these ladies) about how a bottle of Jim Beam on the big Orange (both color and brand name) amp set became Misa's trademark.
It may be played up a bit, but Misa has said a drink before concerts helps her relax and play smoother.
But on to the Jim Beam: Band-Maid were in an early interview, and because the Maids of the Maid Cafe scene in Japan each have a "Charm Point" to help customers connect and remember them, they were asked theirs. Akane said hers was an endless appetite. Misa said, "I like to drink alcohol." Which prompted the question of what, and it was like, "everything, yeah beer, but also whiskey, on the rocks or straight." The hosts acted startled, the guest host was saying, "I'm in love!" and obviously impressed.
Okay, fast forward to their next European tour and they're in Germany. Misa approaches her amp and there is a full sealed bottle of Jim Beam sitting on top. Obviously placed there by a fan. Misa looks at the audience, who are clearly watching to see what she will do. She opens the bottle, smirks, takes a long swig and re-caps it and puts it in the same place, and puts on her bass, ready to rock.
They loved it. Misa the badass. And her Jim Beam on the amp legend was launched.
There are other reasons why Misa is badass, but that's another time...

    Song: BAND-MAID
    Lyrics: MIKU KOBATO
    Composition: BAND-MAID
I wonder how they're doing now.
    In a dream
    It makes me feel nostalgic.
    Even far away
My heart will always be with you.
Even if you are far away
Drowning in anxiety that I can't see tomorrow
    I can't do anything
Just cut off, just cut off
    Wishing "everyday"
It changes every day with dimness
    This wide world
    But we live
It ’s okay, you ’re here
    It's not Hitori.
    Cries ...
I did. Good old days, Ooh ...
    "I'm back"
    "Please wait"
    Whatever happens,
    Don't feel the distance.
    At that time
    It makes me feel nostalgic.
    For example now
Accept someone for who they are.
Even in the days when I can't meet
    I just scream. But i can't move
Whereabouts of the heart that can not be hit
    Just please, just please
    Don't block
The flowers will bloom and will be born again
    This unknown world
    To the new dawn
It ’s okay, you ’re here
    It's not Hitori.
    Cries ...
I did. Good old days, Ooh ...
    "Welcome back"
    "see you later"
I dream in the corner of the world
    Flow
    Believe
I will light your life up with my voice.
    Even if you hate it
    Still all the time
    More from now on
I'm sure there is still more
    Encounter farewell
    Repeatedly screaming
    Not "meaning"
    Continued from that time
    I'm here
(Yeah, We won't forget this day. Draw love)
Even in the days when I can't meet
    We are growing up
Feeling the same, wrap it up properly
    Just forward, just forward
    I'll reach out
    Let's smile in the dark
    This blue world
    Make the future
    All right, everyone is here
    It's not Hitori.
    Fly more ...
I did. Good old days, Ooh ...
    "Thank you"
    From now on.

I agree and love the production that brings the bass so thick and strong in the mix, they have it much more like a three piece or actually a prog rock band. Her playing is so brilliant it would be a travesty to not have it mixed like this so it punches. It seems to me that it is an aspect of Japanese rock and metal that they mix production wise to have everything very audible, American and British in particular are willing to lose something to the background. Japanese and Scandinavian want to hear everything more individually, they do also seem to be the more virtuousic in style by which I mean they pursue very technical skills and will put them in simple songs as well as complex.

It's written from them to their fans, and how they feel. Saikei gave a monologue before this song, saying how their sad, not being able to play live, and folks not being able to enjoy shows. Kanami does Puzzle acoustic, just Kanami and Saikei. But yes Kanami does acoustic. This song allows Saikei vocals shine.
Kanami is a bit shy by nature, then opens up. And she did a brief interview, where she is sad, not being able to play for fans. It's on tbeirdiscord, someone posted it. Kanami is so beautiful as a person, and put a guitar in her hands, she can create beautiful masterpeices. Try their live song Puzzle, Kanami shines. Moratorium, great crowd interaction.

Great emotional reaction Jen. It is a beautiful song and it's guaranteed that you're not the only 1 tearing up at this 1. Saiki has the unique quality of reaching amazing crescendos and often at the end of songs such as Manners. The final pinnacle in the Unseen World vocal is oh so good. Lot of additional layered backing vocals here but it so makes this song. Miku adds such a beautiful backing vocal. Its a real cool soothing song. One you can definitely close your eyes and just absolutely soak up.

Absolutely agree with all of your comments Jen, this was my first time hearing this tonight and wow--just completely gobsmacked! And to do some reading afterward about how this is a song for all of us BandMaid fans, how very touching! These ladies really have such top-notch musicianship that there probably isn't anything that they can't do. And they have no shortage of creativity, such songwriting prowess...amazing...Yes, interesting to see them play an acoustic guitar and you were totally on point, she is so precise. Then there's the bassist, those beautiful lines she was playing just flowed through it--most of the time it's not necessarily great to play that much in a slower song, but it completely fit in the music! Thoroughly genius bass playing. Sheer magic. The drummer is just so strong and killer, great great great. Add in the guitars (I'm a guitarist myself and appreciate excellent playing) and her lovely soaring voice and it's perfection. In the choruses they reach that intensity that U2 gets and it just cascades over the audience so powerfully. I think I'm adding them to my favorite band list too! Very good eye to see the Jim Beam bottle on the bassist's amp, ahh yeah they've got the rock n roll vibe all the way around-nice! And you pointed out the important part, everything they do is straight from the heart, it's easy to tell. Love it love it!
