    Page has that classic How The West Was Won tone here, with similar solo's from the Whole Lotta Love version. I'm jealous af.

      Yeah at 3:45 onwards, He still misses lots of notes - It’s Jimmy Page alright.

      @@chookvalve it's a style. He was London's top session guitarist for a reason. You don't get chosen to be a studio musician if you're sloppy. When you go from the other guitarists to Page, you can distinctly hear that his voice as a guitarist stands out leagues above, even if he is "missing notes."

    • @chookvalve
      @chookvalve Před 3 lety

      Damaged Heroes I guess you are right in one way. I went from ONLY Page to all the other guitarists though. I think his hooks and riffs are most definitely the best. His playing was almost perfect when he was young. Heroin destroyed all of that. 1975 onwards it’s pathetic. No excuses for him. With Jimmy though, Age or tiredness doesn’t wreck your talent. It’s the drugs.

      @@chookvalve Achilles Last Stand is an epic guitar song, with some of the best overdubs in history that becomes a guitar army, that he recorded in one night. Tea For One is a pretty good Since clone. Solo's like on Fool and The Rain and I'm Gonna Crawl may be a bit sloppy, but they are still great solo's.
      Not to mention Emerald Eyes has always been a personal favourite of mine by Jimmy Page, as well as Hummingbird.

    • @chookvalve
      @chookvalve Před 3 lety

      Damaged Heroes Archilies last stand is superb. Tea for on and im gonna crawl. Love them all. Pass on fool in the rain. Led Zep is the benchmark imo. I am just disappointed in page’s live playing direction post smack. But yes he’s the ultimate producer and writer.

    Jimmy page has INVENTED some of the most classic rock riffs ever. But be honest... as cool as he was and still is, he cannot play like he used to. I think the energy of his old friends is what helped make him great.
    He got older and lost a few steps is all. It’s not a great jam, but it’s still Page and there is only one Jimmy Page. Thank you sir for LED Zeppelin, most appreciated.

    damn, is Jimmy using Marc's stripped Les Paul?

    • @gsoltis29
      @gsoltis29 Před 3 lety +1

      If he is it had to be restrung. Jimmy uses .008s and I believe Marc used .010s. I can't picture jimmy being comfortable on .010s. Even moving up one level is quite different let alone 2.

    • @gsoltis29
      @gsoltis29 Před 3 lety

      B C cool didn't realize he moved up after the Zep days. Even 009s seem thin after using 10s. After I started playing slide I found a mix of 009s with a .012 and a .010 on the B and E to be a perfect mix. Enough sustain for slide but still gets a good hard rock tone for rhythm. Just hard to do the crazy 3 fret bends Jimmy is so fond of 😂

    guitar not quite loud enough.but it wasn't his best night. but everyone there can say they saw him. junk or no junk. he didn't play w/ them when I saw them. but I saw Led Zeppelin twice. when a touring band is up there, they are in the middle of playing every night. they're sharp..his 'Communication breakdown', 'Since I've been lovin' you' are just 2 classics extremely well played. playing softly, as well as forcefully, on the 2nd one. like BB ,and Stevie Ray did. he was born to play blues, and had nothing to prove.and the Black Crowes are no slouches. Page being Page, he probably didn't like the tape either.

    I never got Jimmy Page. I mean I’m not saying there’s not records that’s are brilliant but that super super sloppy stuff I just don’t get. Anyone I ever played with would laugh me out of the room for that. Anyway I took a lot of shit over the years for that opinion. But just imagine if Rich or Marc pulled that out.
