Still persist that this is the hardest medley the Game Awards Orchestra have performed, always find myself coming back to this one in particular.
I've never even played The Last Of Us series but there's something really unique and magical to me about that subtle banjo compared to all the other grandiose soundtracks. They're all great of course, teary eyed over here over this beautiful celebration of people's creativity

ACNH saved quarantine for me when I lost my job it had the most impact for me and seeing it in this medley, man it just hit different. every other game deserved it of course but ACNH is unique
"Out of Tartarus" from Hades leading into the ACNH theme song is so funny to me just because of how intense the music in Hades is and how quaint and relaxing the music in ACNH is but other than that, this was a lovely arrangement (except for the fact that TLOU2 won, we stan Hades in this house)

Yeah but it could hve been a little bit long and the battle on the beach could have been as a flashback. Hence all of us would have had a better experience as we would have more abilities ,and It could also have had more weapons like sakai uchigatana and more stances.
Got the platinum trophy for it and although I enjoyed the game and its scenery...it wasn't close to my GOTY.

I'd personally put 2019 as the best worst, it's not bad by any means, it has the theme of Super Smash Ultimate for God's sake, but by just listening to the track selection, and the fact that the transitions aren't as smooth as the 2018/2020 orchestra, yes, 2019 is for me the worst

This is still my favorite piece. It's so masterful how they blend together. At 2:18, you can start to hear a crescendo build in the undertone of the Hades portion that is required to kick off the Animal Crossing tune at its high register at 2:23. The composer, thinking of that, and implementing it so subtly and perfectly is pure perfection in my opinion. You'd think the theme comes out of nowhere but it FEELS so right because of that perfect, prepared transition.
It also maintains continuity by layering the horn accompaniment from the Hades section back into the back end of the Animal Crossing, almost similar to the way it keeps continuity between the FFVII and Doom Eternal sections.
Just pure magic

My girlfriend got emotional when it transitioned to Animal Crossing. The game did so much for her this year. First time I've seen her feel so connected to a game, it got me emotional as well.
