    Hi everyone - FYI: I changed the name of my channel to Cyclingskills to reflect more on what’s to come in the future. It’s all about how to become a better cyclist. (plus some product reviews)

    I like that you have drills included to progress in a skill. That sets your videos apart from most others.

    I came across your channel and started "chain-watching" videos so fast, I could hardly stop to subscribe! Luckily, I had to pause to hydrate. The thing that most impressed me is that at 69 years of age (and a lifelong cyclist) I've picked up some tips in just three videos! This is (IMHO) GREAT content. Thanks for your efforts. I very much appreciate what you've done here. SUBBED!

    Popping your front or rear wheel onto a skateboard then trying to control it as you roll along takes it to the next level! Great advice for new riders.

    This is a great video and an extremely important thing for all riders to learn.
    For me I learned as a kid riding a BMX bike. I started out with only a rear brake and it was on the right side. Then I got a front brake so I could learn brake endos, this was 1980...🙂 Then I did freestyle tricks for many years after that.
    So when I got my first mountain bike I was already extremely comfortable with what brake was front and what was rear.
    So this is simply something I never really realize I need to teach people who are newer riders. Now I have some new tools in my bag for teaching others. Thanks for this video...✌️

      Totally, I could make a whole other video on why I have my rear brake left and front brake right 😳 but that’s too much to pack in here for now. Another day another video.

      @@cyclingskills my road bike came from the UK so of course the front brake is on right. I've got new bar tape and cables hopefully I can correct this before 2027.

      Oh snap, I would have to correct this immediately. I remember lending out one of my bikes to a friend and he wanted to skid in the parking lot, but instead of a hand of rear brake, he grabbed the front brake. Well, it was an impressive skid that ended up with him on his chest sliding across the lot. Long story short, please change it ASAP - Cheers -Thanks for the comment

      @@cyclingskills I have a similar story where a fellow mountain biker let me try his bike. He didn't tell me that his bike was set up moto, rear brake on left, and I was still in the lot when I did a wheelie on it. Any time I get on a bike I do a wheelie and a couple of manuals so I have a feel for how the bike handles. Well, as I started to fall back I grabbed what I thought was the rear brake and I ended up looping out. I did manage to jump off the back but his bike flipped in front of me destroying his titanium seat.
      I was pissed he didn't warn me! He seemed upset about his seat but he knew it was his fault for not warming me.
      I will never run my rear brake on the left. I even rode motorcycles and never had a problem knowing what brake was what. The rear brake on my motorcycle is my right toe, so it's pretty easy to know your not on a bicycle and vice versa.

      Hi @cyclingskills, I’d really like to know how to breathe please. Breathing when rolling, climbing, approaching tech and turns

    • @cyclingskills
      @cyclingskills  Před rokem +2

      @@andrewsheedy hi there, interesting question. There is a big difference on how well you can ride tech sections depending on how tired and hard your breathing is. The best advice and training for this in my opinion is HIIT training. like 30 seconds on 30 seconds off - 10 reps. So that you can bring down your breathing and heart rate quickly before technical sections. I will try to incorporate some of these in future videos. Thanks
